I don't know why, but looking at this immediately made me think of.

Apollo was primarily the God of Light...GL makes green light constructs

It feels a bit like a stretch to me, he's mostly referred to as god of sun, with his twin sister Artemis being the godess of moon (which also provides light, though the light still comes from the sun) as well as hunting. I prefer GL as Hephaestus, but you have a point.

Who'd be Hephaestus then?

it's more about aspects than perfect matching up.
Apollo is primarily the God of Light.

Very interesting, thanks! But absolutely not Hera for Wonder Woman!

It's very obviously Athena. Even Demeter would be somewhat befitting because of the earth and nature aspects, but certainly not the goddess of marriage and birth and spitefully jealous wife of Zeus.

Gaia would also fit Wonder Woman because of her ties to earth in pre-New 52 comics, but Gaia is not Olympian.

You go to the same high school as Marty McFly?

:pal:

Good one!

Yeah & your point being? Until you made that remark, I had completely even forgot Stevenson being in Thor. And he's an Asgardian, big deal. Same thing with Elba. They played 3rd tier supporting characters in a set of films that more than likely will be a trilogy anyway. It's not like people have suggested two major characters (with the exception of Tom Hardy), its suggesting an actor that has been in many genre films (Punisher, GI Joe) & wanting him in a role that fits like a glove. You're saying it like it's Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool & GL. So wait, actors can only portray characters in Marvel films & DC films if its not at the same time? Like Chris Evans or (gulp) Ben Affleck. It's ridiculous. I think people can tell the difference in this day & age of people playing multiple genre roles.

none of those actors played those roles at the same time. so your logic is worthless. they're likely under contract so it's irrelevant. cry more.

This reminds me, am I just looking too much into it or did the AoU trailer really resemble the Man of Steel trailers?

It's not a literal match up. What does Batman have to do with death and the underworld?

Well it certainly seemed "dark", especially for Marvel, though I don't trust that trailer at all. It's probably a bit more serious than first Avengers, but I don't expect any big change in the overall tone.

But besides that, can't say that it seemed very MOSish to me, though I've only seen it once, so...

Well yea I did see it a couple of times. Mainly the last 15 seconds with Ultron :hrt: But Revlver's gifs just reminded me of a couple of similarities I saw between it and MoS.

Shadows? Darkness? Horror aspect? Brooding? Certainly much more than Diana has with Hera.

I got you the first time when you said that it's not a literal match up, but Diana as Hera is a huge miss. She was tied to Hera only because Hera is the Goddess of Olympus.

Yeah, Alan Shore... I mean James Spader might be the reason that will get me to see that movie after all.

And those gifs are definitely way too similar.

I honestly didn't think of MOS while watching the AOU trailer. I'll agree that it's certainly Marvel's moodiest trailer to date.

They make so many comicbook movies that I see it as coincidence when I see similar shots.

Could be an instance where these trailers have the same editors.

Yeah, I wasn't implying it was intentional

I was kind of implying myself, well more being suspicious than implying... on the other hand there are only so many ways to shoot a draping cape and this is the standard "Sergio Leone's western" camera work from behind.

It's probably a coincidence.

Also Ultron's look was a bit "ehhh" in the trailer. I hope he upgrades to look like this ultimately.
