Why wouldn't MurderMan be happy? He got to spend the whole third act of MOS dropping buildings on those pesky civilians and snapping the neck of the hero who was trying to stop him.

You're not reading correctly into "people's" opinion's, then, at all. Believe it or not, people don't complain just for the sake of complaining. You seem to think MOS's way of doing things was the one and only perfect way to go about it. Nuh uh.

It's my favourite movie, I knew I was gonna love it from day one just had a feeling (had the same feeling for Batman Begins too). Of course I know it has its flaws (what film doesn't?) but to me it's pretty much beat for beat perfection. I think the reason the film has been like marmite us that people hold Superman up to their own preconceived notions and different standards to the rest.
