The thing is Courtney has been in some awful movies. Maybe with a really good movie/ director there is some hope?

I mean, look at Channing Tatum recently...

David Ayer strikes me as an actor's director. Maybe there could be some hope (assuming he signs on)?

I personally thought it was Zodiac that did that, but End of Watch did help to enhance that.

I'd say that end of watch was maybe a little more "adventurous" for jack Gyllenhaal, but he was great in Zodiac indeed.

I'm thinking that report may be off. I'm still thinking that Smith is likely in talks for either Deadshot or Rick Flag. I'm not in love with the idea of Smith as Deadshot, but I think it could work. He's good at wisecracks and he's certainly charismatic. Only trouble I have with it is I think he'd want to make Deadshot a little "too" good. I want Lawton to be really amoral and a bit of a sleaze with a code. Not sure if Will would want to play a character like that.

Will Smith as Lawton makes way more sense to me than Courtney's boring ass in the role. They just need to completely scrap Courtney all together. He's another one of those actors that's being rammed down our throats.

I'm watching him on Live with Jimmy Kimmel, he sure isn't funny there.

I'm willing to believe that Variety has it mixed up. They say Courtney is being looked at for Deadshot and Smith is being looked at for Boomerang (WTF?!) whereas I think it could be the other way around. Deadline and THR are saying their roles aren't finalized yet with the former saying Courtney may not even join.

BUT....Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, and Tom Hardy are looking more likely now.

i'm hoping that's the case because that's what makes the most sense.

I don't know if Captain Boomerang is the kind of character the studio would bother getting precious over. Having Will Smith in the movie kind of outweighs nailing the nationality. I think he'd be a cool Deadshot, though. He's talky, funny and charismatic, and it's actually an interesting role: bad guy with a death wish.

I haven't seen him act so I'm not judging him. I do hate when Hollywood tries to force people on everyone though. It's unnatural and obnoxious.

He is a generic bland muscular dude who plays angry meat heads in lots of movies. Perhaps he has a great untapped performance in him but I've yet to see it in any of his previous performances.

I don't mind if Hollywood pushes actors who are actually talented or charismatic but when they try pushing guys who can't really carry a movie it comes across as a bit desperate.

Will Smith does not take roles which are not the lead. If he is in negotiations, then it is one of Rick Flagg or Deadshot who are normally the leads in Suicide Squad. If he took Captain Boomerang, he would be 4th lead behind Flagg, Deadshot and Harley Quinn. He turned down Django because he didn't get to kill the bad guy, no way would he agree for Boomerang unless that role is punched up to a great degree.

Unless it's a Winter's Tale situation. But yeah, Deadshot or Flagg would be solid fits for him, but I still hope he's Black Manta.

This is a great point, but at the same time, people change. I hope you're right though because i would rather see Will play a lead character.
