This was the only bad pub DC was getting last night at the IMAX event. Fans in line were bashing him being cast and said he is nothing like Barry Allen. Saying he will need to bulk up, Yada Yada yada!

I'm down for a Jesus like arc for Superman. The JL movies have the potential to be epic on an almost biblical level. The JL is comprised of gods basically.

I totally agree here! I mean, IMO, that's the biggest difference between DC and Marvel (and no, I'm not "going there") - DC is full of god-like (or sometimes actual god) characters. More epic, mythological-type, storylines can totally work and shouldn't be looked down upon. I just remember how much flak Snyder got for all the "Christ-like" imagery in MoS...uh, yeah, so. I think it works for the character, especially in that particular film.

I wonder if the fight between the two won't end with one over the other, but in a draw where both are exhausted, and from the fight physically, and the fight verbally, they realize they are equal and no different. I mean, if not that then there would have to be something because that won't be the final fight in the movie, because that would have to be the second or third to last final fight before both (and WW) fighting the real baddie.

I feel it will end mutually. You cant have Superman get beat, degrades him as leader of JL. Something will end the fight and we won't know who would win and it wont matter because they will shake hands

True, but I still think Bats would have trouble physically striking MoS Supes if he was at full power (even with the armored suit). It seems he needs to be weakened somehow.

Snyder Supes' combination of strength and Flashesque super speed would make Batman's armor and tech irrelevant. Superman could dropkick him into orbit before Bruce knew what hit him. I'm guessing a combination of deception and a weakened Supes makes it a semi fair fight. Hopefully they don't go down the kryptonite route.

No I saw it your right it was all about the controversy and the fallout of the Metropolis battle. It at least for me didn't highlight the character in a good way.

It's not supposed to. Superman is an alien. The people of earth have NO clue how to deal with this. That's the point of the movie. However, its a teaser for the plot. They'll be tons of good guy Superman in this movie, especially towards the end and going forward.

the Death and Return of Superman is the most popular/well known Superman story of all time.

Cavill keeps saying how Death of Superman is his favorite Superman story and how Doomsday is his favorite villain.

They already set up the Jesus parallels in MOS. I'm expecting to see a loose adaptation of DOS at some point.

I also wanted to add: I do like this take on Batman, as a man who is paranoid, most likely haunted by demons based on his actions, may have drones b/c he's semi-retired if that rumor is to be believed, and have that set up Batman in the DCCU. Heck, I could see him having problems and have moved on thanks to Superman in BvS , or the team in general in JL, kinda like a Infinite Crisis moment. I just don't like the idea of the fallen Robin be Dick Grayson if that is true; Jason Todd is better, and if they do a Batman solo prequel series, we can see Batman & Robin (Todd) evoling into Red Hood, and why maybe Batman is the why he is in BvS. But Grayson? Hell no. I still hope that's false.

I think we're likely to see that in the beginning as well, before the backlash against him (probably due to some incident orchestrated by Lex).

Is your agenda to see Superman die?? Snyder already said you can't form the JLA without Superman. No way Snyder kills him off right before they form and then have him brought back in JL. It's not a very good plot line and sorry to say it would hurt the BO of this movie.

Could you imagine how the critics would pan this movie if they killed him?? Snyder would be crucified and Marvel fan boys would own the world. Killing Superman worked in the 90's to make the comic relevant again. They can use Doomsday, even though I think it's dumb but the Trinity need to come together and destroy him.

If Nolan hadn't already done it, I'd say fake kill batman like in dkreturns then have him come back. But instead have him meet the other heros at the fortress of solitude and have him say something to cap the movie off like "...where do we begin?"

But like I said, Nolan did the fake your death thing So that won't work.

There is going to be a diner scene. Maybe instead of it being a scene about Lex, they filmed the last scene in the movie involving Clark and Bruce at that diner. Also went to that diner recently and I noticed that they put up a Superman plush toy above the counter.

I don't wish to be mean, but while figuring out a thematically satisfying solution in defeating/hindering a character that's basically a god, you've just pinpointed the one thing that's even less cinematically interesting than shoving a green rock in the guy's face.

The fight will end when Batman realizes there's no chance in hell of making Superman bleed and then he has to run away like a little schoolgirl.

either that or Batman distracts Superman with his collection of nude pictures of Ernest Borgnine, causing Superman severe psychological damage.
