I haven't seen it, but hasn't Whedon been getting flack for ignoring most of the plot advancements in Phase Two?

I enjoyed AoU a lot. Solid 8/10 for me. But yeah, he kinda ignored a lot of the important stuff that happened in IM3, Thor 2 and The Winter Soldier.

I felt like the only logical conclusion to that story was the end of the Avengers. The end of SHIELD in TWS, Tony building Ultron and screwing with the scepter (he stopped being paranoid in IM3 and then went back to being paranoid in AoU), Hulk leaving... The logical ending was the end of the Avengers. It was also the best setup for Civil War and Avengers 3.
