Well he's an idiot. He's complaining about Wonder Woman being a warrior, which she's been for a long time. Somehow, according to Morrison it seems, if you're a woman you should be a peace-loving person who shouldn't be seen engaging in combat. I guess only men do that in his view. Also, I guess he's not familiar with the Amazonians of Greek myth.

lol at all of that. i take it you know nothing about grant morrison.

Exactly. Or Wonder Woman as a matter of fact.

Morrison is right in all things, but one - he is judging Snyder's version prematurely.

You guys seen this?

Awesome. If BvS were an animated movie, it'd probably be Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly/George Newbern and Susan Eisenberg doing the voices.

The two shots of Wonder Woman in the trailer are of her fighting something, is she supposed to look cute and peaceful while fighting?

Listen for all I know Wonder Woman sucks in the film and is a two-dimensional warrior woman (she isn't the star so I don't expect her to be too fleshed out) but that trailer is not going to tell us that. What Morrison said is just as ridiculous as someone on the positive side saying that they know what her personality is going to be like from that trailer.

Gal Gadot (during comic con panel) : "Wonder Woman has all the strength of a superhero, but she's very sophisticated, loving, and has a lot of emotional intelligence"

As long as this is how she comes across in the movie, I'm not worried.

If Gal had stated somthing like - "WW is always ready for a fight, she is a warrior princess after all", I might have been worried.

Agreed.

Girls are only supposed to look cute and peaceful, ISS

If Snyder stuck to Marston's original vision of Wonder Woman there'd be lots and lots of BDSM imagery and the internet would explode in outrage.

Morrison got alot from those two scenes apparently lol

I really hate this crap about women having to look cute at all times and not look as tough as guys during fights even!

Believe me if the only Wonder Woman shots were of her making a pouty model face people would make the assumption that she is horrible in the role...not that they aren't already making that assumption but it would add fuel to the fire.

It's not what Morrison was saying though.

What is he even saying then?

From what I gathered, he jumped the gun and deduced that Gadot will be playing a straight-up warrior devoid of all pacific and altruistic traits of the character, because he saw her making a straining expression in a fight (which is natural, of course).

I know... as I said he jumped the gun.

GM said nothing wrong as far as I'm concerned. A lot would agree with him on it as well.

I don't think he was talking specifically about BvS. ScreenRant quoted him out of context (how surprising :whatever:).

N: One more thing I need to ask about is the status of Wonder Woman: Earth One for DC, which you are writing and Yanick Paquette is illustrating. She’s easily my favorite character, and I’m dying to see your interpretation of her. What’s the status of that graphic novel?

GM: It’s finished now and it’ll be coming out soon. I sat down and I thought, “I don’t want to do this warrior woman thing.” I can understand why they’re doing it, I get all that, but that’s not what [Wonder Woman creator] William Marston wanted, that’s not what he wanted at all! His original concept for Wonder Woman was an answer to comics that he thought were filled with images of blood-curdling masculinity, and you see the latest shots of Gal Gadot in the costume, and it’s all sword and shield and her snarling at the camera. Marston’s Diana was a doctor, a healer, a scientist. So I went back to those roots and just built it up again.

So instead of going with a title like "Morrison doesn't like 'warrior princess WW', they went with click-bait 'Morrison hates Gadot's WW'. :o

Guy who wrote Screenrant article: Should I post this as an article stating how Grant Morrison's Earth One Wonder Woman will be or should I edit it so it looks like he's bashing the Gal Gadot Wonder Woman?

I can't get past him implying that he knows the characterization based on two out of context shots. He might be correct for all I know but right now he has jumped the gun big time.

Yeah, it's and idiotic edit as well. I guess they got to earn those five more clicks somehow.

He wasn't talking about Gal Gadot, he was talking about the Earth One Wonder Woman comic he's writing and Screenrant decided that editing it so it looks like he's bashing Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman would get more clicks.

Anyway I'm going to drop it, it doesn't matter. Okay I'll see it as Screenrant trying to start ****.

On this I do agree. Though, as geetard pointed it out, he just mentioned her as a side note while he was talking about Wonder Woman: Earth One and edit of the article made his comment look much more *****ier:

To be fair, he did say Gadot's WW was "all sword and shield and her snarling at the camera." So it's not like they're making a connection that isn't there. He explicitly mentioned the BvS Wonder Woman, though he was very clearly only talking about the shots we've seen.

What is he even saying then?

This is what he says, starting out by talking about his Earth One graphic novel:

It’s finished now and it’ll be coming out soon. I sat down and I thought, “I don’t want to do this warrior woman thing.” I can understand why they’re doing it, I get all that, but that’s not what [Wonder Woman creator] William Marston wanted, that’s not what he wanted at all! What would a society of immortal women that’s been around for 7,000 years have done? They wouldn’t still be chopping men’s head’s off; they’ve got art and architecture and philosophy and poetry and it’s got nothing to do with men. So Yanick Paquette did this amazing design job, where there are no phallic objects. The only phallic objects are like these Greek towers that are almost like this haunting echo of the culture they came from.

Wonder Woman’s Invisible Plane is now shaped like a vagina, it’s the most incredible thing. It opens up in the back and it has a little clitoris hood, everything is a female-based design. It’s all based on shells and natural stuff. He’s created this entire newly designed world for the Amazons. And for the first 48 pages, there are no men — it’s just women talking to each other. And then halfway through the book, we’re building up to this big fight, and then I thought, “No, I’m not.” This book isn’t about fights, there’s not going to be any fights. So we threw out the rules of traditional boy’s adventure fiction. It’s the most exciting book I’ve done in years, it changed everything I’m thinking about the future.
