Looks like Tobey Maguire.

Is it confirmed that there are screenings tomorrow?

Yes. There are industry screenings tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday. I have confirmed that through a friend in the industry.

These are either at the Warners Lot in their screening room or at IMAX headquarters depending on the day.

J.K.: My God Parker... You look like a mess. And what are you doing toadying for that money bags Wayne when you should be out there getting me pictures of this Batman!?

Nah, that's not what it's about at all. That's just what Chris Rock made it about. It really is just about women and minorities getting more quality roles.

Which I accept in concept, I just don't see it carried over in terms of how people talk about it.

Or maybe it's as simple as black people want to see more black characters, and are more inclined to mention black representation before any other race, just as I'm sure women or other ethnic groups are more inclined to trump representation of their own, if the mood arises.

But don't let me stop the casual dismissal of the representation of one group because it's believe to be nullified by the lack of representation of other groups. Not like that's an easy way to dismiss any concern at all.

Except that's not what I was doing. If we're going by statistical representation according to the USA's demographics I see more discussions about black characters than any other minority, which I find odd if forums like SHH follow those demographic distributions, or even more odd if global demographic distributions are looked at. However, I will concede that people of specific identity categories are likely to focus on those categories, but I find it strange that black representation is the most discussed, because I'm not sure what to attribute that prevalence to. Perhaps comic book properties are just more popular with black audiences than they are statistically with a lot of other demographics? I'm not sure.

Also, as cute as your snarky second paragraph is, I wasn't basing my point of view on attempting to dismiss one group to the benefit of another. I was using pure statistical reference to infer that black representation discussions seem to be occurring more frequently than the black demographic's prevalence would suggest it should. Either that's because the amount of black users is disproportionately higher than actual distribution, or there's another reason. I'm not making an actual call on which it is, I'm stating what I see.

I find it interesting that the Hispanic distribution is the highest ethnic minority in the USA, but it's quite low in terms of how many posts I see discussing the likelihood or desire of a Hispanic character appearing.

I do believe my favorite part of that IMDB thread is the guy who tried to discredit him because it's a positive review and "the movie has bad buzz from ppl in the industry who saw it already".

TBH hispanics identify easier with white characters and same could be said about Arabs and, stretching it, asians, while Black people have a very defined cultural identity that, understandably, shields them away from self-emphaty with whites.

I take it one of the black guys is the one poaying Killer Croc? Who's the other one and ehat character does he play?

He is Will Smith. He's done a tv show, some music, couple of films that have done okay. Hopefully Suicide Squad will be a stepping stone to greater visibility.

I so want the haters to be proven wrong.

Just not true. While Latin and Hispanic nationalities don't have racism per se we have "shade-ism". And while a good portion certainly like to front like they're white and there are certainly some that are more than others; some of us are conscious of our African and Amerindian roots and find it easier to identify with black folks. So yeah, generalizations=/=reality.

I'm one of "us" :yay: and I'd say we have far more in common with whites than blacks, it's not about sin color, culture is just too far removed, as I said, understandably so.

Well, you may have far more in common with whites than blacks, but don't speak for hispanics everywhere, because this hispanic says you're wrong.

Without ridiculous amounts of qualitative data this is one of the most speculative (I'm being kind) statements I've ever seen in my life, and in fact all you're doing is reproducing the far too popular black vs white dichotomy that's taken over popular discourse in the last several years.

Here's the fact of the matter, each of the racial categories you mentioned is separate, distinct, and equal in terms of how much people of those categories value them because that's how human beings work; they always favor the identity categories they fall into. To make a statement about how Arabs/Hispanics/Asians identify more easily with white characters without some kind of data to back it up with sounds inane at best, and absolutely laughable at worst.

You're also conflating race and culture for some bizarre reason.
