As a Puerto Rican related to many Dominicans... Yeah I don't know what to say about this current debate. Go to a Klan meeting or your local Stormfront watering hole. No matter how light your skin is, a Hispanic American is still just another "mud race" to them. And Hispanic culture in the new world is chock full of African influence so I don't know what anyone means by saying there are too deep cultural differences between African Americans and Hispanic Americans, especially with the two groups living in the same inner city neighborhood for decades.

TBH hispanics identify easier with white characters and same could be said about Arabs and, stretching it, asians, while Black people have a very defined cultural identity that, understandably, shields them away from self-emphaty with whites.
:nuhu: Having moved around and living in all white communities, this wasn't true for me. A lot of things I missed. I have a definite culture. It's not the same as white people. I may be light skinned but I need my music and food :woot:

throws Barbara's wheelchair at the joker

"Why do you suppose I just hurled a wheelchair at your head"?

"Were you Joking or were you Riddling?"

"...Joking."

"THEN WHY THE F*** DIDN'T YOU SAY SO!!"

"SO YOU DO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE!"

"If you deliberately sabotage my Justice League, I will **** you like a pig!"

Gotta love Reddit at times. :hehe:

Looks like our heroes all chose the same place to have a stare off contest.

Which I accept in concept, I just don't see it carried over in terms of how people talk about it.

Except that's not what I was doing. If we're going by statistical representation according to the USA's demographics I see more discussions about black characters than any other minority, which I find odd if forums like SHH follow those demographic distributions, or even more odd if global demographic distributions are looked at. However, I will concede that people of specific identity categories are likely to focus on those categories, but I find it strange that black representation is the most discussed, because I'm not sure what to attribute that prevalence to. Perhaps comic book properties are just more popular with black audiences than they are statistically with a lot of other demographics? I'm not sure.

Also, as cute as your snarky second paragraph is, I wasn't basing my point of view on attempting to dismiss one group to the benefit of another. I was using pure statistical reference to infer that black representation discussions seem to be occurring more frequently than the black demographic's prevalence would suggest it should. Either that's because the amount of black users is disproportionately higher than actual distribution, or there's another reason. I'm not making an actual call on which it is, I'm stating what I see.

I find it interesting that the Hispanic distribution is the highest ethnic minority in the USA, but it's quite low in terms of how many posts I see discussing the likelihood or desire of a Hispanic character appearing.

You're reconciling anecdotal evidence with factual demographics, of course you're going to see a discrepancy. I mean, just look at the context. You're on a site about superheroes where one of the biggest talking points is the DCEU. A major player in that DCEU is Green Lantern and one of the most famous characters to hold that title is a black guy. And he was the first introduction to that character for a lot of people. So when people think diversity on the JL, they tend to lean toward Stewart.

Just go to the Iron Fist board to see how the dialogue shifts within context.

Batman, Superman and Lois Lane will be on The Graham Norton Show

The Graham Norton Show has got a heroic lineup for its return on March 25.

Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams will be taking their place on Graham's sofa, which, hopefully, can cope with the might of
Batman, Superman and Lois Lane all at the same time.

In case things get a bit heated, The Pet Shop Boys will also be popping by to calm proceedings down with their new single 'The Pop Kids'.

He's not in this.

All fair points
