I don't think it would have worked with someone else instead of Superman. It is tragic if you think about it. The most powerful being on earth, a God being manipulated by the government while a human with all the faults of our race standing up for true justice.

With Miller's Superman, it's like he let his ideals for servitude go too far, letting him play second fiddle to Uncle Sam.

With Batman, he doesn't have such ideals, so he does pretty much anything within his moral conscience. Which kind of erodes (IMHO) if the scene in which he tortures Superman with missles is any indication.

Funny because the first issue had always been my favourite. I love the whole thing (and i'm surprised that since the announcment at Comic Con many people have turned against it, hypocrites) but that first issue was all the money for me. The most complete, the most well written, that issue defined Batman.

Do you want it to feel like it takes place in the real world (like MOS), or do you prefer something more fantastical?

Of Dark Knight Returns? I agree with you.

You know I was listening to the Batman ion Film podcast and some of the stuff they were talking about got me a little worried.

Mark Hughes made a good point that the fight will most likely happen at the end of the film. Which I really hope doesn't happen as I want to see them inevitably team up to take on the villain(s).

They all seemed pretty sure that Batman is gonna give Superman an ass kicking in this too, which could just be Batman bias. I wanted to smack El Mayimbe when he said something along the lines if Batman would be able to kick Superman's butt cause he's supposedly smarter etc. I'm really worried that by having this happen (if it does) it'll just make Superman look weak. Also if this does happen at the end of the film how much I'd a downer is that for Superman? Mak Hughes said something like he thinks Bats will kick hs ass then tell him to stay out of his way etc. the thought of that makes me cringe.

All in all I guess I just don't want Superman been made to look a fool at the expensive of Batman. WBs could piss off alot of people if they don't handle the fight with care.

Being outsmarted by batman doesn't make anyone look like a fool, however being outsmarted by Nolan bats would def be that the expense of Superman, no doubt.

Not necessarily fussed about him being outsmarted as such its more the thought of Batman giving Superman a total ass whooping, I mean didn't we see enough of that in Superman Returns? I just think it could be totally ridiculous especially after what Superman dealt with in MOS. I'm just worried about it all and admittedly as a Superman first I don't want a situation like that.

Batman is one of the top five most brilliant men of the planet, there is no shame in being outsmarted by him at least once. Nolan's Batman wasn't stupid, quite the opposite actually. He just wasn't a Batgod who can seemingly do anything to anyone.

if they ever did that in this movie, it would be the dumbest, most illogical & certainly the most suicidal stunt pulled in the history of modern cinema ..

i really have a very hard time believing WB could be THAT fantastically stupid .. there would be riots, tsunamis, volcanoes erupting in ur crapper, felines & canines having relations, ur dad becoming ur mother, ur mother becoming ur brother, mass hysteria & confusion, the resurgence of communism and North Korea declaring nuclear disarmament ..

seriously, this would kill off the most iconic cb character for .. life

i don't care how smart u are, but no-one wearing kevlar & chucking about a bat shaped ninja star is EVER gonna dent a ridiculously hyper powered alien .. just accidentally farting in Bats' direction is gonna dislocate his pelvis ( i like Bats btw) .. & u gotta be some dumb a.ss alien if u don't super peep some green K from across a 100 miles away .. i can't see how they sell this ****e without it seeming comical & ridiculous

Again it's not been outsmarted that bothers me so much it's when they make Superman look an idiot at his expense and its happened far too often. Also I don't want to see Superman getting a total ass whooping off Batman. It just doesn't sit we'll with me as I'm sure it won't for other Superman fans and it wouldn't for Batman fans if Superman kicked Batman's ass either. The fight needs to be fair to both sides.

I think it will be, I doubt that Snyder is stupid enough to make Superman look like a punk in his own sequel.

I think Mark Hughes is right when he says the fight will be built up to and most likely take place toward the end of the film. Anything else would simply be a waste of potential for suspense, tension, etc. You can't shoot your wad too soon. It's hard to get more dramatic and potentially epic than the two most iconic superheroes of all time facing off.

I'm a Batman fan first, but for the sake of Superman fans I hope it's handled with care and that both get their moments to shine.

I have a feeling they're going to play it out in such a way that it causes people to argue over who really won and keep the debate going. Superman's not going to look like a chump. There might be a moment where he clearly has the upper hand, shows mercy and then Batman takes advantage, etc. I don't think we'll be done arguing over who would actually win in a fight after the movie comes out. That argument will never end and Goyer and Snyder should know that. :funny:

Ha ha, it certainly would not go down well. Tbh it was only Mark Hughes who thought the film would end with the fight. I think Sean was the one who said he can't see them waiting 2 hours to se them fight.

I don't see it ending with the fight, I think by the ed they'll team up. That would be one serious downer in my opinion if it ended with them fighting at the end. Also as this is a Superman sequel so it shouldn't end with him getting best down that would be one massive mistake.

Well I'd prefer a draw as such rather than one snack downing the other. I want them to be at a point by the end of the film where they might not agree on how each others methods work but understand they have the sane goals and ultimately respect each other.

They could still potentially team up after the fight or come to an understanding. And that's basically what I'm saying, you can have it play out so there's no clear victor. Or so that the Superman fans will be claiming Supes won and the Bat fans will be claiming Bats won. It's possible to do that.

And I think it should only happen once in the film. It's something that should be built up to. They should be on a collision course. I just think we should be prepared to embrace the concept of a Vs. movie a little more because all the signs are pointing that way. WB has registered the domains for BatmanvsSuperman.com. If it ends up just being a teamup movie that's called a "vs" movie, that's false advertising.

We should be rooting for a good and compelling VS. movie, not a movie that calls itself a VS. movie but is too afraid to actually go there.

I'm not saying there can't be a teamup or reconciliation by the end either. I just think if you're marketing the thing as "the world's greatest superheroes face off" then they need to not like each other for at least 80% of the movie.

Might seem abit rushed if they do that though.

I think they should only fight once but about just over halfway through.

I see your points

Cool, I agree too. It could potentially be done in the middle of Act 2, but then there has to be a very compelling villain plot that will carry the rest of the film.

Which, with Lex in the mix, hopefully would be the case.

i can roll with that ..

million $ question .. how does Bats get hold of Kryptonite ?? definitely not Donner-Lex style .. over simplistic .. cause that's the ONLY way the Bat has an outside chance against Supes

Or he can simulate the Red Sun effects, or find some way of tweaking the atmosphere in his favor.. and..

Yep, options are running out ;)

OOH! New idea, Batman finds out that Kryptonite is Superman's weakness (by witnessing the Metallo fight from a distance), and informs Luthor, who gives him a small chunk as a reward.

This would make Batman emotionally invested in stopping Luthor when he finds out.

Yeah I'd be down for that.

It's have to be tweaking the atmosphere cause Kryptons sun wasn't red :woot:
