Justice League The Bruce Wayne/Batman Thread

I disagree. I can see Gosling nailing the playboy billionaire, and the serious Bruce but Batman? It all depends.

Fassbender might be the equivalent to Bale in all 3 categories. Then again as dark and serious Bale got, he had a likeability and a warmth that Fassbender may not be able to pull off. It would be more along the lines of Keaton. Where it's just a cold Bruce Wayne. I never felt bad for Keaton once, while Bale won me over completely. Now Fassy would give a different Bat performance than Christian, but it wouldnt necessarily be better. Just different.

There's a bunch of actors that could nail the playboy Wayne but butcher Batman. And some actors would be the other way around.

Im not sure it's gonna be easy to find an actor who can do the 3 personas as well as Bale. A HUGE challenge.

Agreed.

I have yet to see an actor who has the combination of right looks, acting talent and likeability that Bale had.

Richard Armitage is one such candidate but then his age is not right.

just seen the hobbit cast Richard Armitage immediately :o

I've only seen him in Captain America and I enjoyed him in that. I'd be on board. Has the look.

He definitely does. Just the age... 40 is probably as far as I'm willing to go. Though, TBH, if there were someone I'd make an exception for, if would be Armitage! He has that regal charm of Bruce and if Hobbit was any indication, he'd do a damn well Batman.

Oh f%$k...

I think I confused his age with Patrick Dempsey's!

I can support him as Batman in Justice League movie, if they want an experienced Batman, he could even be in the solo Batman restart, I mean if Robert Downey Jr.(who is 47 year old now) can act as a hero in two Sherlock Holmes movies and Three Iron Man movies and two Avengers movies then,

There is no reason why Richard Armitage can't be Batman in one Justice League movie and one solo Batman restart movie, after that we will see if he still looks the part or a replacement is needed.

Yeah, that could work. Especially if they decide to bring Robin and Nightwing into the fold. If they do, an older Batman works best. Armitage does really have the look, and he's a great actor. I'd be down with it.

Richard Madden, plays Robb in GOT, would be a pretty awesome Bruce/Batman. right age, look, and can act.

I like his look. Never seen him act but if he can, I'm all for it. Looks like Fassbender and Cavill mixed together to me.

WB couldn't go wrong with Gyllenhaal or Gosling for Batman.

Or Sam Witwer, if they wanted someone relatively less known.

He's slightly too baby-faced for my tastes.

I'm tempted to officially change my Batman choice in my signature to Richard Armitage!

Yeah, there are moments on Game of Thrones when he looks like Cavill's twin.

Yes but Clark and Bruce have always kinda looked like each other anyways so is it really that big of a issue?

But, isn't that more of an issue with the artists?

Are there times when Bruce Wayne was accused of being Superman because of how similar they look?

I don't see why people are afraid of an older actor getting cast as Batman in the movie. I'd rather see a 40 year old Batman than one in his 20s. Young Batman would be a colossal mistake... I can't see Bruce being at his "roll with the League" level in his first few years of being Batman. He'd need at least 10 minimum. That would put him in his mid thirties at the youngest so it wouldn't be a problem to have him portrayed by someone that age or older. He doesn't have to be the male eye candy which will inevitably come with the movie... Hal, Barry, or even Clark could fill that better than Bruce would anyway.

That Richard Madden guy (from that pic im looking at) looks like a weasel. Looks nothing like a Bruce Wayne or Batman to me. So i say NO to him.

baby goose as aquaman would be good. i can't see him as batman though. his voice is so high. i can see flash and aquaman, but not batman or gl.

No, I get our point. They are similar looking in comics. But I don't think the character looks matter as much in comics as they will do in film.

I don't think the movie audience is going to appreciate that. For them Batman/ Bruce Wayne is different from Superman/ Clark Kent. They couldn't care less if some artist (and I don't mean it in a negative way- I respect all my comic writers and illustrators) decided it would save him time if he drew Superman and Batman similarly and at the same time preserve their iconic looks in the fist place which pro'lly could have been with the intention they never see each other.

It is also my understanding that DC have been trying to make give batman a less square face in recent times!

And though I love Richard Madden in GoT, IMO, Cavill-lite is just not gonna cut it with the GA. Last thing you want are people complaining about how similar the Batman looked to Superman. Just take that out of the window altogether.

Here are my current picks in order. Posting from my phone so sorry for any typos

1. Jack Huston
2. Jake Gyllenhaal
3. Matt Bomer
4. Ian Somerhalder
5. Sam Witwer
6. Tyler Hoechlin

Will post pics later

For me, I'm definitely vibing on Joel Edgerton.

Ever since Warrior (where he kicked Bane's arse lol), he's proven that he's not only tough but can act too. And starring in one of this year's Oscar faves (Zero Dark Thirty) doesn't hurt either. Plus he's got Great Gatsby coming up; Edgerton is a rising star. WB should lock him into a contract for JL films and the inevitable Batman reboot
