the main reason why I dont care for this film as much as the other 2 SM movies bc I hate Doc Ock. Ive never found him to be an interesting villian. So what he has 4 mechanical arms? Thats just lame. He was the least appealing out of the villians used in the series and wish they had gone a different route for this title

Sucks for you then, doesn't it.

Ock is awesome. Molina rocked.

I've never found him to be all that interesting in the comics, but loved him in the movie...same goes for Sandman in 3

Ock in the movie was great. I haven't read the comics, though I may start.

Ock is a fantastic villain. My fav of Spidey's enemies [never guess, would you? ;)]

In the comics, he's like the Peter Parker gone bad. The loner geek who takes out his anger on the world. In the movie, he was what Peter was aspiring to be. Great scientist living his dream with the woman he loves.

So, in both the comic and movie universe, they were a parallel of some kind to eachother. Which I loved.

And, his tentacles are the perfect foil for Spidey. There's not much Spidey can do that Ock cannot counteract in some way. Plus, they allow Ock to fight Spidey virtually anywhere, as shown in SM-2.

My favorite villain of the comics is Goblin. But Doc Ock is far and away the best Spidey villain on screen, his tentacles are so incredibly awesome, they put the simplistic comic tentacles to shame. I also liked his backstory, his fightscenes were awesome, and who doesn't love the scientist gone bad. And Molina completely brought it all to life. Why an Oscar nomination for best supporting was not given to him is beyond me. Oh, that's right, The Academy doesn't hold comic book movies in any esteem.

I second that.

That right there is what bothered me about movie Ock. The great scientist living his dream with the woman he loves IS DR. CONNORS not Ock! :cmad: So, I guess when they introduce Lizard in SM4 he'll just be Peter Parker gone bad.

Same here...I thought he was a lame villian in the comics but like Sandman they gave him an interesting backstory and you actually had a bit of sympathy for them.

It's all opinion, of course, but I love Ock as both a character and as a "supervillain." In fact, I think he's a big part of the reason Spider-Man 2 is considered by most to be the best of the series. He's funny, cool, interesting, and his look/fighting style translates extremely well to film.

My favorite villian from the comics, I also thought his screen representation was great. :otto:

Its more than just 4 arms in the comics. He has a personal body shield for Spider-mans attacks. He has various weaponry and tricks hidden in his arms. Not to mention his arms are all stronger than Spider-man and have a reach that can extend several feet.

for some reason this was always my fav line if his in the comic.

"You have no chance at victory Spider-man. You have but two arms while I have six!"

Doc Ock is great. I liked him as a powerful supervillain in the comics and the cartoon, and the movie made him even more interesting as a character. Plus, Alfred Molina played him.

well, yeah connors and doc ock basically serve as that same emotional foil for pete, the only difference is cinematic possibility. Lizard-...basically a velociraptor in a lab jacket. Ock on the other hand has 4 mechanical arms in adition to his body that have minds of their own. thats something we haven't seen before at the movies.
