for anyone that's got it ...how long is the stan lee dlc ?

Like 30 minutes. You have the script mission which is practically like a minute long. But you can roam around the city and play some side missions, and I'm pretty sure the side missions respawn, so I guess it's actually kinda never ending.

I just really hope we get a 616 game with this games formula. I want them to work with the comic lore again and give us bosses with actual personalities. Not just a bunch of gnarling, grotesque monsters. As much as I enjoy this game, I had way more fun with the bosses in Shattered Dimensions.
Yet to play TASm, and this point seems pretty understandable

Because all they make are thug games right?
Alright, they make a lot of gun totting games

This Manhattan is awful. I work in Manhattan and it is barely recognizable to me. It's no where near as easy to navigate by landmarks and recognizable buildings as the previous games and the city seems, all together, dead.
Hunh, what? Maybe I need to play this game ASAP
There are no cars, no people, nothing. This game is pretty awful -- I am tremendously disappointed in it.
Can't be

The camera should be pulled back as well. It's a cross between 1st and 3rd person and it stinks. You can't navigate nearly as easily while swinging in games past because you can't see ANYTHING because you only see Spidey's back and what is immediately in front of you.
Camera view from Beenox is understandable, and before playing the game I believe I won't like the system, but since everything I expect goes the other way around I will possibly enjoy it a lot

The story has let me down -- It wasn't even bad -- just poorly utilized in the execution. "Web Of Shadows" did a better "quarantine New York" story line and we actually saw the affect on the people and the city outside of that stupid "twitter" feed.
Story in WoS is all around terrible

The city is very important in open world game. There is no life in it.
Why is it that important to have a Spidey city full of life? Swing and swing and ignore civilians

I want Bruce Campbell to have a bigger role next game.
From his video interview, his character sounds exactly like Mysterio from the PS2 version of SM2 the game

I play every game on the hardest difficulty to give myself a challenge, but this game just has the easiest bosses I ever faced.
It's punch punch punch, dodge, dodge, dodge and maybe retreat from time to time only to come back with a webstrike and it's punch, punch, punch again.
I want some variation like that robo-snake battle. That was easily the best boss by far!
Aw well... maybe it's because I'm still at chapter 7

If you never played CA:SS you should, it's very easy even on higher difficulties

Yes, the bosses are quite easy. Until you get to Black Cat, that is quite challenging. I don't know if I played it wrong but it also felt like it lasted forever

I don't really like easy games. Challenge is a must! Makes them last longer too.
But hey, what's CA: SS? Is it any good?

Whoa, Black Cat is difficult?
I would've thought that with all these beasts running around she'd be the last of my worries. Oh well... bring it!

So I managed to find all of the costumes with the exception of the new black suit tha has to be acquired at 100% completion of the game, but I noticed at peter's apartment there are still 4 extra hangars in the wardrobe area. Which ones am I missing? I have the regular spidey suit, mutate costume, old trilogy costume, black trilogy costume, scarlet spider 2012, reverse future foundation, big time, negative zone and thats it.

the game 2 days ago. I must say I really like it so far. The bosses was pretty easy and I really like the snake robot battle the most cinematico ne that I really like. I thought the game was gonna be really really short due to that by like chapter 5. You rescue the scientist and Gwen. But I realized htat it's not over and there is still people affected by the virus. The free roaming is okay. It wasn't really what i expected but it's different. I guess thats what differentiate this game from others. I have yet to beat the game. As I have just defeated black cat at the st. Gabriel bank. I'm playing this on hero difficulty. Like I said the free roaming is okay. but i must say this is the worst representation of NYC i have ever seen. It is more detailed and more realistic looking but I've been to NYC enough times to know that this is not NYC. There's like probably about 3 landmarks in all. A fictional city is more like it. but I'm not complaining. Great game overall 8/10

Is black cat like pretty much every Spidey game where you have to chase her across rooftops?

I'm a bit disappointed that there weren't really any chases, except for those car missions. Some wasted opportunities there. Rhino would have been a fantastic chase boss. Chase after him as he runs amok in the city, catch cars in the air with your webs before they land on innocent bystanders, jump on his back to web his eyes and steer him into the nearest wall, stuff like that.

Yes, but at the cost of good graphics. Sorry, but GTA looks like garbage, even when compared to other open world games.

(and I'm not certainly saying ASM has stellar graphics, but they're certainly better than GTA).

Oh yeah they are better but that's the sad trade off for current gen. GTA has an amazing city with so much detail and life but the graphics aren't amazeballs. It's an ok trade off for me. GTA still looks good, just not great. The great looking games are the linear games like Halo or Bioshock.

My perfect Spidey game:

Rocksteady, Sucker Punch, or Rockstar take the helm and make an amazing sandbox campaign with an immersive city and great swinging mechanics and a great leveling system.

I also want free roam multiplayer. I want 24 of Spidey's villains, allies, and Spidey himself (with a couple of alternate costumes) to just go at it in the city in a big brawl. You can have death match or missions like capture the flag or rob the bank...whatever. Each character has unique weapons and powers.

Then...I could die happy.

Agreed. THAT would have made for something interesting. Instead they went with same old "dodge rhino til he gets stuck on something/exposes his weak spot"

Can't wait for the PC version.

Also, 2 years should be enough for Beenox to develop another good Spidey (movie tie-in) game. I mean, they already have the engine developed.

This has probably been already answered, but where can I take a picture of a seeker bot?

Yeah, I'm a stickler for graphics. I could never get into GTA because of it. But look how big and immerse Red Dead was, and the graphics for that were pretty good (awesome in some parts). It's a tough, and not consistent at all trade off.

I'm not the biggest fan of Beenox (like, at all - only reason I bought this was because of the free roam), but I do think they gave this a game a pretty good shot. From a mechanics point of view, I'm actually interested in seeing where they go with it, now that they've popped their free roam cherry. They really do need to get better artists and animators though. And one thing I noticed in this game - which I've seen in EVERY spidey free roam, is that during cut scenes, and Spidey is standing and talking to people, his arms are straight and stiff as boards and just stick out awkwardly...its so freaking annoying. As an animator, I want to hunt down the guys who do it and smack them.

That could either be really cool, or really bad. I'd be interested in seeing how something like that could pan out.

I don't know what game you guys are playing but the graphics and city aren't as good as say GTA 4. The graphics may not be super realistic in GTA 4 but it's still more polished than this. The city in GTA 4 actually seems like a living city with a TON of detail and things to interact with. This game suffers from spotty texture pop in and the city feels dull at times. And you can't really interact with much in the city besides dumpsters.

I love spidey too and I think this game is decent ( not great) but I wouldn't compare it to a triple A game like GTA. But for a movie based game it's serviceable.

I love these ideas some poster posted on the HeroHQ boards:

  • Boss Battles: use the City - This just really felt like a wasted opportunity. You created this big, free-roaming city, but did too little with it. Someone like Rhino, would have been a fantastic chase boss, involving the entire city. For example, Rhino charges through the city, doing his usual schtick, you chase after him and get some quick-time prompts, as he flings cars into the air and you have to catch them with a Spider-Web, before they come crashing down on innocent bystanders. Or web-rush to civilians, who fell as they were running from Rhino, and swing them out of his path and into safety. Then you swing on Rhino's back, to web his eyes and steer him into the nearest wall or armored truck. When he finally comes to a halt, the regular battle would continue, but because of his thick skin, you again would have to rely on making him crash into things or use objects in the environment like the giant trash containers.
This is what I basically envision a Rhino boss battle in a free-roaming environment to be like.

And with someone like Scorpion, you could have turned it around and have him chase you, as you try to lure him into a secluded area, only with someone to open fire from a helicopter, attracting Scorpion's attention. Scorpion would shoot acid at the rotor blades, causing the Helicopter to fall, you rush to it, catch it with a web and try to aid the passengers to get out and down on the ground. Only for Scorpion to jump on the giant Spider-web as well, and to engage into combat with you. The struggle and acid continue to weaken the web and you have to hurry to defeat Scorpion, before the helicopter falls again.

That's because in GTA you spend almost the entire game on the ground. You're either running around town or driving around for the most part but nearly everything happens at ground level. It's easier for a developer to make better details in the environment and render more people, cars, buses, etc., when the main character is moving at a generally slow pace. Yeah, I mean you can get some of the cars to do over a 100 mph but for the majority of the game you're not going very fast around the city. The developer doesn't have to worry too much about framerate issues and glitching and what not because the speed at which you are moving is relatively slow or human.

For Spider-man you have a whole different ballgame. Not only can he be at the ground level, but also 100 stories up in the air. Then there's the case of Spidey's mobility. He's not limited by a car driving around on the ground...he can flip, twist, and zip off in any direction at almost any time. Spidey can swing at speeds close to 160 mph and the web rush manuever can have him moving at speeds in excess of 500 mph, according to an interview with Dee Brown. That's crazy fast! Because of Spidey's incredible speed, mobility and range, there's less detail that can be thrown into the environment and less people and cars and stuff rendered in as well. There's only so much they can do before it starts affecting the framerate and smoothness of the gameplay. IMO, I'd rather have a glitch-less experience controlling Spider-man, than a ton of peeps walking around.
