Annihilation Conquest

as cool as most of kirby's stuff is, there's a lot of horrendous looking designs he came up with.

Yeah I laughed at that to! I was hoping that StarLord and his gang would get a ongoing. I really enjoyed their mini!

Well, they're forming a big part of the new Guardians of the Galaxy. Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon, and Groot are all members.

After the last two issues of Nova, I wish they would add Warlock to the GotG too. :(

Maybe they will. Groot and Starhawk are both on the team, but they weren't shown on the first issue's cover.

If they did, that would be awesome.

Personally they should take the whole team of Starlord's and add in Cosmo and Warlock, and you have a great GotG.

With Groot on the team and Nova's writers on the book, he'll finally start saying more than "I am Groot" which was getting tiring in Annihilation.

So far the known line-up is Star-Lord, Groot, Rocket Raccoon, Quasar, Drax, Gamora, Adam Warlock, and Starhawk. So it's kind of like half Star-Lord's dirty half-dozen, half Infinity Watch.

Yeah I know but still.......................they were just a great gang together. I can't imagine RR making a comment and Drax....not wanting to kill him.

Haha, well, DnA will find a way, I think. I'm only worried about Groot, really, since they seem to think all he ever says is his own name. I don't want to see PokeGroot.

What we need now is a Silver Surfer ongoing and I will be one happy cosmic person.

Why would you want an ongoing when we've got all these great, inconsequential Silver Surfer minis all over?

As excited as I am about this series, does anyone else have fears that it won't last very long? It just doesn't seem like a comic that the average comic fan would pick up, even moreso than Nova.

Seems to me Marvel ATM considers Surfer and Galactus so "holy" that they've turned them back to their roots and avoided involving them in main 616 stories.

Either that or they are thinking they were overdone in the 90s.

The stand alones aren't bad, but these characters need development still, just like everybody.

I think it's mostly that they're afraid to commit to another ongoing when their formulas for recent other attempts at Silver Surfer ongoings have fallen flat. The minis are probably a way of testing the waters to see whether another try at an ongoing is even warranted after the Marvel Knights series.

Conquest is selling well, so I imagine GotG would draw in the crowds who enjoyed that. I could definitely see it selling pretty terribly, but it's a cosmic book so the people at Marvel probably aren't expecting huge numbers from it anyway. If it settles in around the 50s or 60s on the top 100, I think it'd be fine. Those aren't hard numbers to reach for a Marvel book with a major crossover as its launchpad.

The reason the SS books haven't been selling well is becuase of the writers. JMS did a good job on Requiem which I thought was masterfully done. The other story In thy name, I don't even know who wrote it but it was horrible. I think if they put JMS or a talented writer on it just to get him back in the spotlight, then you'd see a SS take off. The dude had his own cartoon, appeared in movies and will soon have his own solo movie but yet doesn't even have a ongoing. Samething with Blade who had a trilogy and tv show for crying out loud! Just put the right writers on it and watch it take off.
