Annihilation Conquest

Gay confessions are hard to take. My mom still hasn't gotten over the George Michael thing since the 60s.

You should save her.

PhotoJones = Captain Save-A-Hoe?

High Evolutionary...the Savior??? Moondragon...dead??? Nova...Still in Knowhere?! After reading the preview of Nova Annual #1, I think it was premature to think that the Human Rocket is gonna sit out this cosmic ***kfest. He might just pull off a Han Solo in the closing issues after all.

Ultron rocked some ass this issue. I'm glad he's getting into the action early. Annihilus didn't really fight anyone for a long time in Annihilation.

This issue was a major improvement over the first one. My only real complaint is that Raney should never be allowed to draw Rocket ever again.

He drew Rocket's whimsical expressions fairly well in a couple of panels. Honestly, I think Raney should just get someone to draw heads for him. A head co-artist, if you will. Because it's apparently impossible for him to keep any head consistent between two panels, ever.

His Rocket had more in common with a German shepherd or an anteater then it did with a raccoon. Tim Green III's design was pretty simple, too. If Raney was going to draw Groot in exactly the same way, why not do the same for Rocket?

Because he needs to flex his creative muscles, and a tree is a tree is a tree, goddamnit. :o

He doesn't suck anywhere near as bad as you want him to suck. Inconsistent heads or not, the man is a solid storyteller.

I know. His work in AC so far has actually impressed me quite a bit. He draws a pretty good Star Lord and he did a good job on Blastaar. Of course, D'Armata's beautiful colors don't hurt. Raney just seems to have a habit of ****ing up a panel or something so much that it's distracting from the rest of the page.

I like his Adam Warlock, Phyla, and Super-Skrull. The Star-Lord squad's (they really need a Howling Commandos-esque name if they're gonna stick together for a while) uniforms looked great too, and Star-Lord himself looked really good (when his visor was down). I wasn't too sure about DnA's writing for Star-Lord, though. He seemed really upbeat and quippy, which isn't something I really got from him in Giffen's mini or Annihilation. He'll crack the occasional joke or two, but he seemed almost up to Spider-Man-level jackassery here.

He didn't seem that off to me. Groot was the only one who seemed mischaracterized, with his one line. He's never been a humble tree, but he's never been a stupid one, either. His, "I am Groot!" line that came out of nowhere just made him seem ******ed.

Knowing one's own identity is never ******ed. :o

Okay, yeah, that line was kind of ******ed.

On a side note, now that Rucka is done with DC, he's going to be writing a Star Lord and the Rebels ongoing for Marvel.

If anything he should write a Nick Fury/SHIELD ongoing. It's long overdue.

Beards are the best thing ever.

Not when they're scratchy. You can always tell a married lady has a bearded husband when after the wedding she's constantly broke out in the face. :oldrazz:

Some guys look AWFUL with beards...and some guys don't know how to shape them. Of course, good bone structure makes up for a lot.

Everyone I care about does.

Dude, the child molester look is in right now. You missed the gravy train, man. :(

Well, there's always glue on beards. You can even change the color every day and freak friends out! From black to blonde, to red, to...

Black hair + black beard = good
Black hair + white beard = terrible
White hair + black beard = cool
White hair + white beard = old
