Annihilation Conquest

Yeah, it's on the Xbox. I plan on getting a 360 eventually, and it's backwards-compatible for Shenmue II, so I'm set.

Sweet. Has anyone played that game that Adam Sandler's character was addicted to in Reign Over Me, and if so, how is it?

Dude, that's Shadow of the Colossus for the PS2. It's a spiritual prequel to the adventure game Ico (the events aren't directly related, but there's a connection). It's also one of the best games ever. You basically just run around and slay giant monsters, but it somehow manages to be a lot deeper and more interesting than it sounds. Rent it if you haven't played it yet. It rules.

It looked awesome. I wasn't sure if it was a real game or not. So is it an action game, or a puzzle game, or what?

A bit of both. It's action in that you ride around on a horse, shoot arrows, stab things, etc. It's a puzzle game in that you have to figure out how to kill the colossi. In some cases that just means getting close enough for your sword to make their weak spots glow, in others it involves having to perform crazy stunts just to get on the colossus.

Yeah. You're basically this little kid who's imprisoned. There's an accident that releases you and you find this girl. You decide to help the girl get free from the place you're in, so she basically follows you around for the whole game as a crutch. But it's a fun dynamic because you always have to be conscious of where she is and stuff.

Easy. Just shell out 200 bucks. Or borrow one from one of ******ed friends who's convinced himself that the PS3 is gonna get over. Like me.

SoTC was great and honestly, outside of the GameCube or Wii, no other console can capture that feel. Downloaded the whole soundtrack too. Great stuff.

I never played Shenmue 2...I wanted to see if you settled things with Lan Di. Yakuza (spiritual successor to Shenmue) was pretty okay but heavily linear and repetitive. A very good story though.

SotC was one of the first games I played on my 40" LCD TV, and it still looked phenomenal for a PS2 game, even at that scale.

I'll have to give Yakuza a look. I'd never heard of it until now.

I've played maybe 3 video games in the past 10 years :(

Atari, Nintendo, Sega... 2 games on Playstation... and that's about it.

I miss video games :(

I don't consider myself a gamer, but if the right game comes along, I can totally get down with it.

I got myself to play X-Men Legends a while ago. It was okay. Before that I played Final Fantasy 7 and 8 (and 8 is one of the best games I've ever played by the way). And before that was all Sega goodness.

I just can't get into games.

My wife can't either but she made me sneak my brother's game system out to play 'that guitar game' and now everyone in my family is addicted to it save me.

I've been pretty much addicted to the Bioware/Obsidian unholy love-hate orgy for a good few months now.

I wouldn't have access to all this new shiny next-gen hardware if my brother didn't have a steady, high-paying job and a desperate need to fill the void in his life that it has caused. God bless you, Silicon Valley. God bless.
