Annihilation

If Hulk doesn't beat him to it... :cwink:

Speaking of which, there has been a sudden shift to the cosmic element of the MU across the board.

Annihilation, Planet Hulk (very sci-fi based), Astonishing X-men (they're on an alien world currently), Captain Marvel's return, and all of the Annihilation spin-offs are bound to spread into other titles. Maybe the cosmic element of Marvel will become bigger than we all thought.

Being a big cosmic fan, I'd love to see that happen. I just don't think it will get that much attention is all. Even if it does I doubt it'd last longer than a year, max. :o :(

Uncanny X-Men, as well. Silver Surfer and Galactus are also appearing in Fantastic Four.

Don't forget Uncanny X-Men. That's why the Shi'ar were left out of Annihilation.

Edit: Curse you, Apprentice. :(

The Shi'ar stayed out of Annihilation because the Wave didn't pose any specific threat to them at the time. Or at least, that's what they said.

I'm betting Uncanny X-Men is why they said it. They've stepped in to mediate major intergalactic problems before, like with the Kree and Skrull when they got too out of hand. I'd hope Lilandra wouldn't be so much of a *****e that she'd withhold troops when nearly every other culture in the universe is being wiped out.

Well, she may not have wanted to provoke the wave into coming her way either.

Mediating between the Kree and Skrulls is one thing.

Trying to take on something that not only destroyed the Crunch, devastated the Kree and Skrull empires, and countless other worlds, is another altogether.

The wave isn't headed in her direction, and she probably doesn't want to give it a reason to.

But maybe I could see the whole Uncanny X-Men thing too.

I don't know, given the Shi'ar's fairly noble history under Lilandra's rule, I imagine they would've at least lent troops to the United Front, when it looked like the remaining Kree, Skrull, and other forces looked like they stood at least a tiny chance against the Wave.

Well, they would've known that a bunch of Skrulls, a huge Kree deployment, and all known heralds of Galactus sans the Silver Surfer were barely holding off the Wave. And the Nova of course.

Then word definitely would've gotten around that they smashed the Silver Surfer and Galactus, without any specifics being leaked really. And even if they were, they would think the Wave had two Galactus level beings on their side.

And that would trigger the memory of when they had to "kill" Galactus with the help of everybody else, and remember how that was almost a dismal failure.

If the wave commanded THAT much power, and all the United Front was doing was holding on to a single planet, I doubt they would've put much faith into it.

True, the fall of Galactus and the Surfer would probably have been enough to make them think twice, even if they wanted to send troops. I hadn't thought of that.

Yeah. But I'm also sure some of Uncanny X-Men might have had something to do with it.

But with the whole Galactus thing, where they had trouble, needing Kree and Skrull to just disarm Galactus for a while, and this wave just rolled up and just imprisoned him seemingly no problem, they probably just wouldn't want to take the chance.

I only read the Nova mini so far. What mini is next? I wanna read it in order so I can read the main series.

The Nova, Silver Surfer, Super-Skrull, and Ronan minis all overlap. Some begin earlier, some end later, but for the most part they're all in the same time frame.

Thank you. Ronan is next for me then. I regret reading Nova first. It was so good. You know, save the best for last, or second to last since I heard the main series was "teh s***."

Best to worst for me was Nova, Super-Skrull, Silver Surfer, Ronan. I liked them all, though, so maybe "worst" isn't the best choice of words.

That's what I would've chosen if I only knew how kool Rider was.

Worst to best, and reasons (Where have I seen this before, and I really feel this happened before. O well.)

1. Ronan - never heard of.

2. Silver Surfer - usually find boring... No, all around boring. He did own cable, though, but I like cable, so

3. Super Skrull - I wanted see what he was up to after Young Avengers (It's only one of him, right?)

4. Nova- Wasn't he in the Prologue? been so long since I've read it. Never read anything with him in it before reading the Prologue. (Edit: He was in the MTU when they were fighting that guy. Forgot his name, but the guy broke She-hulk's arm.)

The cool thing was that Uncanny mentioned the Annihilation wave...and the War Skrulls they fought in Uncanny were deserters when the skrull worlds were being destroyed.

This is the order I place the mini's also...what killed the Ronan book for me was the art was atrocious. I love how they took Nova, who nobody ever took seriously, and made him into one of the most selfless heroes of the Marvel universe.

I don't know if "selfless" is the right word. He saw a huge part of what he cared about be destroyed before his eyes by a seemingly unstoppable force. I think his motivation for fighting back was equal parts revenge for Xandar and fear for the rest of the universe.

I almost want to read the Uncanny arc now. But I still won't. It's the principle of the thing, you understand.

I wish I could quit you!(Marvel)

Principle of not being anything X? But of course AXM and X factor don't count, because they are actually great. The rest are tripe.

X-factor is the smartest X-book out right now.

Don't think many people liked Ronan much. Not that I blame them.

When it started it was my favorite of all of them. Later on it lost some steam but I still preferred it over Super Skrull and it somewhat tied with Silver Surfer. Nova was the best.

Ronan is a badass :csad:, his mini was ok.. it's just the fact that the rest of them varied from good - awesome. He was cool in the main book though, smacked Ravenous' face off :woot:

I did enjoy the beating the ****e out of ravenous. Still, can't seem to like the big guy.
