Annihilation

Hey everyone I am trying to get the annihilation book 1 hardcover edition but cannot seem to find it anywhere for less then like 150 bucks(which is ludicrous). I have book 2 and 3 in HC and without the book 1 HC it will just look stupid on my shelf. does anyone have or know where I can get a copy of it? new or used doesnt matter to me just as long as a decent price is asked for it. if you do then just either reply on here or message me

thank you

It's not too hard to find. There's several of them on eBay right now ranging from $8 to $40. And you could pick it up from an Amazon affiliate for about $60. If you go to a comic store near you (find one at this site http://csls.diamondcomics.com/ ) you can probably pick up one at cover price or they may even be able to order one for you from a back order wholesaler.

$150 is too much for it especially when they are so easy to find for cheaper.

I did enjoy the beating the ****e out of ravenous. Still, can't seem to like the big guy.

You are on your own! I love Ronan! Especially when he's about to beat someone's a$$ and goes off into his speech. "know that you are being judged............." Freaking love it! :woot:

Too bad he's been kinda really lame in Conquest.

Your actually right! Surprisingly................I just noticed it to. In the original series, he was tight but now..........meh. I was hoping that he would be a part of the new GOG series but I guess not.

He's a disgraced leader who's failed his people. He's bound to be a little mopey. I think he'll step up and be badass in the final battle, though.

If he stays alive long enough. Maybe Ronan killed Wraith's family and is going to get the same treatment eventually.

That would be an odd twist. I'd prefer to just see Ronan go back to ruling the Kree, though.

Is this Annihilation series really worth reading? I'm trying to get my hands on a lot of Silver Surfer stuff at the moment and i know he is in this series, but the series itself sounds interesting also. Is it worth a read?

The first Annihilation is truly epic, one of the best Marvel stories of the past decade.

The sequel, Annihilation Conquest, was terrible. Don't bother.

^There are 3 Annihilation books though, are they the ones worth reading?

Read it all. But you'll def love the first most

You'll need to read Conquest in order to understand Guardians of The Galaxy, which you'll be wanting to read afterward, no doubt :D

Oh, sorry, I misunderstood your post.

Here's what you need:

It's one story broken down into three TPBs.

Conquest is another story, also broken into three books. But don't bother with it.

Conquest wasn't bad. It wasn't as good as the original Annihilation, but it wasn't a terrible story. It started strong and sputtered out a bit toward the end. The prequel mini-series to it were mostly good, though, especially the Star-Lord mini. I think books 1 and 2 of the Annihilation: Conquest trades covers those minis, so I'd recommend getting those, at least.

^Thanks, just ordered book 1 along with Planet Hulk, its a shame i have to get these books to read a bit more Silver Surfer, but both books are meant to be brilliant so i cant wait to read them.

So is the Nova solo arc worth a read? Also, is Conquest really that bad?

Annihilation was top notch.
The Mini's leading to it were less so, but still good overall.
The mini's leading to Annihilation : Conquest (Which is for all intentive purposes is Annihilation II) were good.
Annihilation : Conquest was good as well.

The problem with Conquest was that the scope and storytelling was no where near that of the original Annihilation, which everyone compared it to. Not that it's a bad thing, because it pretty much is a direct sequel to the first.

Nova, which spun out of Annihilation, has had a very solid first 15 issues, and is definatly worth it.
Guardians of the Galaxy, which spun out of Annihilation : Conquest, is kicking more ass than most books and it's only at it's 4th issue. The only thing I can see wrong with Guardians of the Galaxy is that if you didnt read through Annihilation:Conquest, you might be a little confused and lost.

I definatly suggest the entire "Annihilation" saga to anyone that hasn't read it. The mini's leading up to the original, the original, Nova spinning out, the mini's / tie-ins leading up to Conquest, Conquest itself, and Guardians. Marvel really did bring their cosmic game back with a bang with Annihilation, and Conquest kept it moving along. I wish they'd do a third one, as a trilogy of sorts, but they're running with War of the Kings instead next season.

Hope that helps you.

Yeah, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as the first one.
