Annihilation

I still think it would be interesting to see his reaction to losing all his old teammates.
So do I. I get that he's the top dog in the Xandarian heirarchy now, but come on, the guy's probably gonna want to return home to Earth after Annihilation is over. I don't think it would be very hard at all to work the story in. Hell, he could be so distraught over the state he finds the USA in that he decides to just ditch Earth altogether and seek comfort in the rebuilding of Xandar, where he'll undoubtedly be named one of their greatest heroes of all time after all's said and done (even though he technically already was one of their greatest heroes before Annihilation even started :o).

Also, if they're gonna make a new Nova comic, I'd definitely want Firelord and maybe a rebuilt Air-Walker to be supporters. They're both Xandarians, damn it, and ex-Nova Corps officers to boot. I don't believe that just because they played herald to Galactus for a while, they'd suddenly stop caring about the possible extinction of their entire civilization. Well, Firelord, at least. Air-Walker gets a pass because he's kind of dead.

ANNIHILATION is looking good. DiVito is a great artist for all that over-the-top space goodness. I read PRELUDE and NOVA from ANNIHILATION and have been pleased so far, especially since I've rarely read space-opera comics.

I really want to see a post-Annihilation story where the newly hardcore Nova returns to Earth to find his fellow New Warriors persecuted in the midst of Civil War. Knowing Marvel, however, it's probably too much to hope for. :(
Indeed, it would be incredible, especially considering Nova's power level. He could easily toss around Iron Man or Nitro if he really wanted to. We do need to see some reaction from him for losing some of his close friends.

Yeah, he decides to come back after Annihilation for a "vacation" of sorts. It works perfectly in my mind.

This mini looks really neat I enjoy space things and sense I have money now I can pick it up. So could anyone fill me in on what happened in the other minis.
Nova: The Xandarian civilization is wiped out in the Annihilation Wave's opening attack. Richard Rider is the only surviving Nova Corps officer within range of the Worldmind, so it contacts him and downloads itself into his mind with the intent to have Rider keep it safe until Xandar can be rebuilt. The only problem is that the Worldmind is too powerful for one mind to contain safely, so Rich teeters on the brink of insanity. Despite that, Richard can't quit being the hero that he is, so he keeps courting danger to try and help others. Two of the first people he helps are Drax and Cammie, who become his traveling companions after Drax tells Richard that he can help him control the Worldmind. While traveling, they come upon a system beset by the Annihilation Wave and find Quasar trying to help the people of the system escape. Nova decides to help too, and he and Quasar soon find themselves in a standoff with thousands of Annihilation Wave ships. The power that Nova and the Worldmind are expending is so great that it draws Annihilus himself to the battle. He kills Quasar, but Nova, Drax, and Cammie manage to escape before Annihilus can get to them.

Silver Surfer: The Silver Surfer is minding his own business when the Annihilation Wave hits. Soon he finds himself hunted by Seekers, Annihilus' elite soldiers who wield the Negative Zone's counterpart to the Power Cosmic. The Surfer escapes Ravenous, the leader of the Seekers, and finds other ex-heralds who have also been hunted. Firelord tells the Surfer that Air-Walker, Morg, and Terrax have all been killed or captured, so Firelord, Red Shift, and the Surfer form an alliance. They help an alien get to safety and take on the Annihilation Wave, but eventually Red Shift is killed and Firelord and the Surfer find themselves hunted again. Galactus' current herald Stardust is also apparently killed by Annihilus' forces. Meanwhile, the Kyln, a space prison that Thanos was being held at, is destroyed. Thanos sends the Fallen One, the first herald, to investigate while he and Annihilus talk. The Fallen One finds that the destruction of the Kyln has released two powerful cosmic beings called Tenebrous and Aegis, who have some prior connection to Galactus. Galactus and the Surfer, both desperate thanks to Annihilus, decide to reforge their old bond and the Silver Surfer becomes Galactus' herald again. More powerful than before thanks to his renewed connection with Galactus, the Surfer defeats Ravenous after realizing that the currs, the dog-like creatures that all of the Seekers traveled with, were the actual source of the Seekers' cosmic powers.

Super-Skrull: Skrull space is attacked by the Annihilation Wave and Super-Skrull encounters the Harvester of Sorrows, a giant machine that converts planets into food for the enormous Annihilation Wave armies. He finds a young Skrull named R'kin who apparently worships him and they set off towards the planet where Super-Skrull's son lives to try and save him from the Harvester. Along the way, they liberate a bunch of the Annihilation Wave's prisoners and Super-Skrull fashions them into an army. When they finally reach the Harvester, Super-Skrull sets his plan to destroy it in motion, with R'kin set to deliver the final blow. But R'kin betrays Super-Skrull and reveals that he was working with the Annihilation Wave all along. Super-Skrull is captured and made to watch while the planet and his son are destroyed. Super-Skrull then frees himself, kills R'kin, and destroys the Harvester of Sorrows in a kamikaze attack. Praxagora, a female prisoner who joined Super-Skrull's army and later fell in love with him, is the only survivor left to recount Super-Skrull's heroic deeds in service to the Skrull Empire.

Ronan: Ronan is falsely accused of treason, stripped of his Accuser rank, and exiled. Not one to go quietly into the night, however, Ronan decides he must hunt down the witness who accused him, a Rigellian named Tana Nile, and force her to recant her testimony and clear his name. He finds himself on a backwater planet called Godthab Omega with ex-comrades of his, all of whom were also dishonored and/or exiled. While there, he encounters the Annihilation Wave and Gamora, who has apparently taken to the warlord lifestyle after leaving Adam Warlock's Infinity Watch. She has a group of loyal followers, including Cerise, a Shi'ar who used to be a member of Excalibur. Anyway, she finds herself drawn into battle with Ronan. They fight while the Annihilation Wave begins to tear through the planet's defenses, but soon they realize that they have no reason to fight. They return to their comrades and help them drive off the Annihilation Wave, then investigate. Soon they find Glorian, ex-apprentice to the cosmic cube the Shaper of Worlds, behind their manipulation. He wanted to refashion the planet they were on into a masterpiece beautiful enough to impress his former mentor, but after realizing that all he's done is destroy it, he goes crazy (he's supposed to be a creator). Ronan finally finds Tana Nile on her deathbed (she was nearly killed in the Annihilation Wave attack), who reveals that Fiyero House, a Kree political body, paid her to accuse Ronan. They wanted to take over the Kree rulership, and they knew Ronan, who was completely loyal to the old order, would create big problems for them. After all's said and done, Ronan and Gamora become allies and they set off to fight Annihilus, Ronan to redeem himself in the eyes of his fellow Kree and Gamora to avenge her followers who died at the Wave's hands while Glorian forced her to fight Ronan.

All of the stories (except, I guess, Super-Skrull's) will continue in the Annihilation mini-series.

Of course were assuming Nova survives this. The only character I think is safe is Silver Surfer.

I think Super-Skrull will be back at some point. Maybe Praxagora just didn't know about his return. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ronan, Firelord, Gamora, and maybe Nova die, though.

No problem. deathshead asked for it, and I figured others could probably use a reminder on some of the major points of each story too. I had to look up a few things myself while I was writing them.

I think they probably had Nova die in Annihilation but I think sales of his mini might make Marvel think twice about getting rid of him.

I doubt Nova dies, like Darth said this mini has boosted his popularity.

I was reading the marvel homepage. It says two heroes have fallen... who has fallen? I know that Air walker has but who else?

I strongly doubt Nova dies.

Giffen has been very vocal about his ultimate goal of "fixing" characters instead of killing them..and this seems like "case and point" with Nova .

You can tell when a character is being used with enthusiasm and a want to make the character connect...and this is my take on NOVA right now. I'd say he has some big pro supporters at the house of ideas right now..and that makes me feel good.

Nova just needed to break away from that "peter parker" archetype..which he was on his way towards, until Erik Larsen relegated him back to Marvel burger. In some ways, Nova should have been like this 5 years ago..he is already a veteran of several interstellar "wars" such as the Xandar/skrull war and Nebula's destruction of Xandar...he has already seen casulties in wars (champions of Xandar, Turbo II, etc) and he's already seen Xandar destroyed and re-forged anew.

The difference is , that instead of witnessing this as an off panel revelation, the annhilation is putting these kind of experiences front and center and the reader has ringside seats to NOVA's mind. Its brilliant IMO, and really helps the reader connect to NOVA.

After reading the Nova mini, and this preview from annhilation..i give Marvel props when it is due. I'd really , strongly doubt marvel would kill off Nova in this one. I think, if annhilation is anything to build on...that NOVA is the most logical cornerstone to forge a new Marvel cosmic scene.

Nova doesnt die IMO..

Quasar

Yeah, just read that issue. I'm gutted that he bought the big one. I remember buying his book since #1.

I'm hoping it's a comicbook death in the truest sense of the word and he makes a comeback soon.

Annihilus sucked him up through energy, my guess he'll come back in some Wonder Man type form.

are ya crying 4 quasar again? geez, let the fool die in peace. he is probably playing vollyball with hawkeyes soul (until he comes back) somewhere in purgatory.

Maybe he downloaded himself into the quantum bands before his body was destroyed, like Kyle once did with his ring in JLA.

Wasn't that Raab's run not JLA?

Not that it matters.

Yeah, Apachie Cheif ripped his freakin heart out.

Ohh then, yeah I remember.

Well he also did kind of the same thing at the end of Raab's run and start of Marz's 'Homecoming'.

I think Marz wrote it not sure if it was him or Raab though.

Weird. I don't remember that, and I read Marz's arc. Maybe Raab wrote it.
