Ant-Man and the Wasp: $120M - $130M?

Just under $2M away from passing Solo now. This upcoming holiday/4-day weekend could see that done by Monday. On a side note, The Incredibles 2 should just about cross the $600M DOM mark around the same time(within a week of each other) as it's only got $2.75M to go.

Sounds about right. Apparently it’s getting good numbers this week because it’s still summer break, but school kicks back in next week. And MI6 opens in China this weekend. Homecoming had War for the Planet of the Apes open its second weekend in China and it fell like 85%. I think AM&tW will hold up a bit better but I’m still figuring on a big drop. All that said it’s not hard to see 130-140 if things go a little less gloomily.

Will be great if it can beat IM3 to get 4th on that list.

Paul Rudd/Giant-Man should be front and center on the Chinese posters/trailers for Avengers 4. Sorry, RDJ.
:oldrazz: :hehe: .

In the end the box office turned out just fine for Ant-Man and the Wasp. A good thing since I would like to see one more film at least for this duo. One of those properties that won't bring in an insane amount, but if you budget it properly it can be more than successful.

Honestly they probably should. They don't mind Ant-Man over there so hey go for it :).

I wonder why they love AM so much? :funny:

Guess delaying it for the World Cup didn’t hurt it after all.

It definitely hurt the film in the UK.

It was a smart business decision in some respects, but they definitely left ALOT of money on the table over here.

It should cross $212M DOM by end of day today(which we'll get the report on tomorrow @ BOM) and so heading into this long weekend we should have about $1.4-1.5M to go to beat Solo(which I figure is the last real milestone of any real significance this'll get domestically) and given that it's last weekend was almost $1.8M I feel confident Solo is toast by end of Monday. Going back to just last December, who'd have thought the Lucasfilm movie for this year would lose to all 3 MCU films both DOM and WW. I mean Lucasfilm made 3 billion $ movies in a row, something even the MCU has never done.

I know some people were saying this movie is a failure for not opening big like BP or IW but it's $30+ million over the first one's domestic take and is likely to have a similar increase in the foreign markets. With how low its budget was, this is going to make an amount of money that many studios would kill for.

Yup. If the AM films are just 500-600 million-ish WW movies that cost circa 150 and introduce character that help goose team up movies to a billion-plus every few years, they’ll keep making them until the sun eats the earth.

It's a nice feeder-system they've got going there.

Yep, Feige said he likes the family theme of the Ant-Man franchise and the lower stakes. Like Spider-Man Homecoming, not every movie has to be about saving the world.

I imagine the third film will be Ant-Man and The Wasp followed by a one word. I doubt Marvel want a super long title on their movies.

I suggested Astonishing Ant-Man and The Wasp in the threequel title thread.

Doesn't that make Wasp sound a bit lame in comparison?

Like The Amazing Awesome Iceman and...chamber-music. ;)

62.3M left to get to 4B.
I'm pretty confident China alone will get us there.

Per BOT AM&TW was at $91 million in China through Wednesday.
