Is the Ant-Man theme really evocative of Ant-Man? While I like it, I feel like it was written with the heist elements of the movie in mind, rather than for the character.

Captain America's theme from First Avenger is probably the only theme that instantly captures everything about the character; even after Taking A Stand in Winter Soldier and Cap's Promise in Civil War, the First Avenger theme is still the one I think of in regards to Cap.

Big Cap fan here and I agree with everything you posted. :up:Cap's trilogy is by far the best out of the. ..well...Iron Man trilogy. Lol.

I think so, yes. He is an old school character, even the outfit is vintage. I would very much like to see a young Hank Pym in the 70's or 80's with the suit.

I'd say the Ant-Man theme fits with the character and fits the idea of the miniature spy.

The Ant-Man theme fits the character. If you listen you notice that the theme goes from very light and steady to large and bombastic. You could argue the change in tempo and scope mirrors the changes in size of Ant-Man/Giant-Man which works thematically.

There is a touch of the old Mission Impossible theme in the Ant-Man theme as well.

Nah. I don't think it reflects that. The theme was composed for Ant-Man. For a micro hero. It wasn't composed as a theme for a giant.

I see it more as the opening flutes where the music is quiet is more like a zoomed out perspective of the action, where Ant-Man appears microscopic and we can't see what is going on, allowing him to sneak around without detection.

When the brass kicks in, I see that more like the camera suddenly zooms in with a macro shot and we see things from his perspective. Everything suddenly appears on a much larger scale and gigantic around him like the train set battle or the bath with the rush of water, etc - hence the more bombastic feel. It's suddenly an epic adventure from his point of view, but the melodic theme is the same because from our perspective everything still looks normal.

The early part is like a micro perspective while the latter part is macro.

The first set pictures are online. It is funny how the only real indication that any time has past between the movies is that Hope/Lilly has long hair now. Rudd and Douglas outfits are slight variations on what they wore in the last movie.

sure that's not a creepy van at all

I remember a couple of months after Ant-Man was released there were rumours about Michael Douglas' health, that he wasn't very well and stuff like that. I thought he wasn't gonna make it, so it makes me very happy to see him shooting this one. I think he brought A LOT to the first film, seeing him again is a joy.

He was just wonderful in the first movie. One of my favorite performances in MCU

Yes, and not just that, in interviews he sounded genuinely interested in being part of the MCU, he even made that weird tv spot with Rudd where they were singing just "ants! ants!... ants!" LOL. He could've easily said "no, thank you, not that again" so it is great to see him back.

I remember that, that was surreal :funny:

Despite my disappointment regarding the way Marvel Studios treated Edgar Wright, Ant-Man ended up being one of my fav movies of theirs (except for the scene feat. Falcon, I can't stand it). I hope that the sequel will live up to the original, and wonder what Peyton Reed can cook up without the advantage of working on a script by Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish.

P.S.: Evangeline Lilly looks great in the suit!

Looks nice. And thankfully they got rid of that god-awful haircut from the first film.

That's a very generic costume. What happened to the cool yellow one they had?

Yeah I'm disappointed, this was clearly so much better

Yeah, what happened to this? So much better. Its like they took that, got rid of the color and placed it on a black suit.
