Nah, i think he just grew up real nicely. I really couldn't believe that the little gay kid from Honey I shrunk the kid grew up into this...

So weirder things HAVE happened.

here he is in that bill gates movie

He was about 31 in that one and you can see he's kinda transitioning from how he used to look to how he looks now.

I've been meaning to see that film for a while, John Di Maggio (voice of Bender on Futurama) plays Steve Ballmer

yea i suppose he really has grown up nicely, cuz he was probly the skinniest kid alive at one point. now i suppose he is what the ladies call a "hunk".

imo, the riddler's "look" is the least important part of the character.

to me, the riddler is the most SERIOUS of all of batman's foes. thats where batman forever got him so wrong. he isn't over the top, he's a genius of the mind.

if i was nolan, i would give riddler ties to maroni's mob. when they are trying to figure out a way to bring down the batman, they call him in for his expertise....and he cunjours up various plans for them.

he could be right in the middle of things, having dialogue with both batman and the mob.. nobody really sure of who's side he's on.

thinking about it, this would be the one character that i would bet my house on nolan getting exactly right.

no. riddler shouldn't be some two bit middle man for the mob.

i hate his characterization in a lot of the comics where he's some smart, but scared of a lot of other characters, like tlh and dark victory and just works to further their plot. he is a mastermind and should be in the movie.

As opposed to a domino mask that has no point.

1. it's his classic look
2. if gotham is a setting where clowns run around murdering people, some shrink is wearing a burlap bag over his head and scaring people, a genius with a domino mask only makes sense.

only case i can see him not wearing it if it's edward nigma, not the riddler.

and i still hope to a higher power that riddler is not in the film.

1. it's his classic look
Elements of his classic look can still be used. The bowl hat and question marks for example.

2. if gotham is a setting where clowns run around murdering people, some shrink is wearing a burlap bag over his head and scaring people, a genius with a domino mask only makes sense.
Things like the scarecrow mask make up the persona though. The domino mask provides nothing. The question marks are more important I'd say.

So, is it definite that AMH is Riddler or is it still all rumor and hear-say?

can anyone try a manip of AMH as the riddler? I know there are some very talented Manip people on these boards (me not being one)

there are quite a couple floating around, check the sequel art thread

I think the thing about AMH is that he knows "his role" so to speak. Actors like Law, Goldblum, they tend to have personalities that usurp the scenes they are in and usurp the "movie moment." Suddenly you're saying "that's Jeff Goldblum playing the Riddler..." AMH is a good enough actor to be invisible as a perosn in his role, and be more the character.

That's the problem when you get these big-time actors in films, they have the potential to make them character their celebrity, and not the other way around. It's a dangerous thing.

Also, the scaring probably takes place right before the court hearing. I'd imagine that Dent's hurt, then he'll reappear in bandages during the climax to help Batman out, only to get blown up or what not, presumed dead, and then return in the final scene.

the mask has been part of nearly every incarnation of the riddler in history.

i'd say that's pretty effin' important.

ed norton would give the riddler justice on screen.

lol at jeff goldblum being a "big-time" actor.

and nothing has shown me that AMH is a good actor.

The circular bat logo has also been used for a significant time, but I don't see people missing that too much.

Bottom line, the domino mask is a very pointless addition to his look. If they want to allude to it, ala sunglasses, by all means. Personally, I see no reason why he'd want to put a mask on in the first place. He wants people to know who he is.

The Lazarus Pit was in every incarnation of Ra's al Ghul.

Get over it.
and it still can be, you moron. why introduce it in the first flick if it didn't fit with the storyline.

a mask does not have that problem; it's either there or it isn't since it doesn't play a role in the story. i prefer that it is.

why don't you get over that i won't get over it? or better yet, why don't you get over the fact that not every person on this board shares the same asinine opinion with you.

Goldblum is highly, highly recognizable. I'm not saying he's an amazing or academy award winner. I'm just saying "big-time" in that he's a character so ingrained in our culture that he can be parodied for comedic sake (SNL, Family Guy) or guest-star on an issue to drum ratings (Will & Grace), and starred in two of the biggest movies in the 90s (Independence Day and Jurassica Park).

So why don't you just hop right off your little "I got The Riddler SN first" high horse and realize that other people are right sometimes too.

I agree with you on Norton, but then again...what's his price, and he's on Hulk now anyway, and he's also dangerousl close to being an actor that usurps a role by his celebrity, not his acting ability.

Jack Nicholson or Johnny Depp are perfect examples of this tendency. The Pirates of the Carribean franchise is basically one large Johnny Depp *********ion session.

not necessarily. not many people know riddler = nigma besides batman and his villainous peers.

in addition, i believe the original batman didn't have the oval so it would just be like going back to the original look.

Well not at first. But he gains his fame through time, which is the point of all his riddles. To be the best, and he wants everyone to know that.

Again, to me, it just comes back to functionality. The cane and question marks I can see as Nigma embracing his newfound persona, but the domino mask...I just don't see what that adds.

other people are right when they're right; they aren't right when they're wrong.

norton does not "usurp a role"; he's a great character actor.

anyway, nicholson i agree with, though more now than before. depp to some extent, however i don't agree the POTC franchise was all about depp. the movies were entertaining in a one time viewing sort of way.

One Year Later, everyone knows who Edward Nigma is. Don't they?
I like the bowler, but can live without it. Green suit, purple shirt, and a cane, and we're set.
No Norton - he's already Bruce Banner.

if we were going based on functionality, the riddler wouldn't need a cane or question marks or a green suit.

what it adds is the completion of the look.

From BOF:

There are rumors floating around that 3 classic Bat-Rogues -- not counting The Joker (Heath Ledger) -- will appear in TDK. Oh "REE-AH-LEE." Look -- trust me on this one -- Mr. Nolan's got his Bat-Stuff down and none of us are going to be disappointed. Well, maybe some of us, but there's always a spoilsport somewhere...

What the **** is Jett talking about?
