Anubis' "How would you do it?" Thread.

thanks. The New Warriors have had some great characters over the years, they really need to get a decent writer on that, and get them a new series. and a decent artists. maybe a Kirkman/Alphona combo?

I don't know..He's the Big werewolf Blackguy in UNDERWORLD so he gets points for that and the movie was his concept and wrote the screenplay so, we'll see how NW goes.

I liked it. Plus dude is like a walking talking breathing Luke Cage! I'll give him a chance.

I was thinking of a story, and I'm sorry if this is supremely lame and cheesey, but it's about a group of people who know each other from on line. they get pulled into a world where most of them are granted amazing abilities. Descar is a human cannon. he can channel blasts through his body, usually out his hands, that can anihilate tanks in a single blast. you have Ezekial who gains speed, Inspire who gainst technopathy...

It's not a bad idea. The names could use some help, not very character has to have a funny sounding name.

Unless it's their names on the NET.

I guess those names weren't as easy to figure out as I thought...

Scar is another way of saying "Mar"

Ezekial is as biblical a name as Elijah

Inspiriation was originally the job of the muses.

rephrase... Inspiration was the job of a Muze... Elijya... Deemar... are you geting the pattern here?

Anubis would of course change into "Reaper" with a decay touch.

I just thought of this, how about a retired superhero is looking to pass on his mantle too another person and he decides to troll chatrooms and sites like SHH to find a person of certain qualities to replace him. Your character is chosen, but the superguy accidentilly sends his powers to several different people.

Oh yeah the retired superguy's power is Alien/tech based so that kinda explains how he can send powers online..or it's a bad idea and I'm useless.

Spitballin'

hmm... The guy is part of a long line of heroes by the same nam. and like you said he's ready to pass on his powers, and he does so by chosing someone on line. as he talks to these people he begins to realize many of them are good canidates... and that his powers are far too vast. he gathers them together and grants them ALL portions of his powers, somehow though, one is left without power, the one that, if pressed, the older hero would have chosen to inheirit it all.

Good stuff Harle
Harekin that's pretty cool I'd read it.
Very cool. I had an idea for a Suicide Squad team and storyline. If memory serves, you said that the team wasn't too good, and in retrospect I agree with you. I'm thinking of revising the idea a bit and reposting it.

Thanks guys. :D And if it concerns that team with the Joker and Lady Shiva, then that was me. I'd like to see it revised though.

And hey guys, do you think we could keep it to one of the two "How would you do it?" threads? Having two only clutters the board.

INVINCIBLE: GUARDIANS OF THE GLOBE

guardianszn1.jpg

WARNING! Spoilers for those who have not read past Invincible #8!

They are not the Justice League. They are not the Justice Society. They are not the Avengers. They are not the X-Men. No, they are not even the Defenders, Champions, Teen Titans or Outsiders, they are the Guardians of the Globe! The Immortal! War Woman! The Red Rush! Darkwing! Aquarius! The Martian Man! The Green Ghost!

Ever since these guys showed up for their rather... short debut, I've loved them, especially Aquarius. It's why I thought a mini-series about these guys and the adventures they had before their... untimely end, would be awesome to see. Just like the Suicide Squad, these guys would mostly (with the exception of the Immortal) be blank slates.

The Immortal
The Immortal's original name is known only to a select few, the Immortal being one of them. His origin stretches back quite a few decades, and under the alias of Abraham Lincoln, he was even the president of the United States! The guy's so old, he even served under King Arthur, and it's thus not surprising that the Immortal is the first superhero, operating since the second World War. It's also made him arrogant and bitter however, and it makes him a tough guy to be around, but the Guardians gradually come to accept him.

War Woman
The incredibly strong and durable lesbian warrior from another, Amazonian realm. War Woman, in essence, is just a spoiled child trying to rebel against mommy. Her attitude brings her into conflict with most of the males on the team, and she even had a very brief sexual relationship with Darkwing. But didn't I just say she was a lesbian? She is, as she finds out after she sleeps with Darkwing. Having lived all her life in a dimension that only has women, she figured an experiment was in other. War Woman telling Darkwing that she has learned of her true sexuality in front of the other Guardians is something Darkwing never heard the end of.

The Red Rush
Russia's fastest man, and consequently, the fastest man alive. He resembles Barry Allen in a way, in that he's an easy-going, handsome and social kind of guy. However, he also has that JLU Wally to him in that, most of the time, he either doesn't know what he's doing, or he knows what he's doing but messes up. As the most powerful member of the Guardians, the Red Rush is the proverbial and literal red shirt. No matter the adventure, no matter the case, he is the first one to get taken down, and mostly in some stupid roundabout way to. You start to wonder why they even keep this guy around.

Darkwing
Dark, brooding vigilante that patrols the street of his hometown, Darkwing is Batman, but a little different. He's grim, he's gritty, but he's also surprisingly upbeat while he's with the Guardians. Darkwing suffers from what can only be described as a split personality. At home, he's Frank Miller's Batman, with the Guardians, he's Adam West, which is the real reason why he doesn't want any superheroes to come to his town.

Aquarius
And we come to my favourite member of the Guardians. Aquarius is what Aquaman would actually be. A fish guy. No half-human, half-Atlantean crap, full on Atlantean, full on fish guy in spandex. You want to make it worse? He's the king of the seas, and he probably has the most boring job of all of the Guardians. This is a world where Atlantis isn't thrown into strife every other week, and the creatures of the sea actually obey this guy. He's the most understated badass of them all because everybody thinks he's useless, but he actually does control 3/4th of the world, and none of his subjects complain about it. If I had my way, every issue would end with Aquarius just nodding off on his throne after the issue's adventure is completed.

The Martian Man
Think J'onn J'onnz. Now, think J'onn being a snarky, relatively sarcastic sonuvagun. You've got yourselves the Martian Man, who is just... I don't know how to describe him. He's the most boring of the Guardians, in sharp contrast with the Martian Manhunter, leaves the Guardians at the end of every issue, only to return as if nothing happened in the next.

"I thought you'd left?"
"Didn't have anything better to do."

The Green Ghost
We've finally come to the last member of the Guardians, who's a spoof of the Green Lantern, as you can probably infer. Of course, he didn't get his powers through some cosmic police force giving him a ring. No, this guy has to swallow this alien gem to get his powers to work (enveloping him in this icky green stuff) and puke it out if he wants to return to normal. I don't think this guy needs anything more to be said about him. He pretty much has the most impractical transformation process of any hero!

Of course, in perfect parody style, they would involve stories that eerily resemble those of the early Justice League. As a five-issue series, each of them would focus on one specific adventure, and work their way backwards JLofA timeline wise:
Issue #1 - Origin of the Guardians of the Globe! (spoofing JLofA #9, where they fight the Appelaxians).
Issue #2 - Slaves of Life! (spoofing JLofA #3, where they fight Kanjar Ro)
Issue #3 - Desperate Measures! (spoofing JLofA #1, where they fight Despero)
Issue #4 - The Superpower Thief! (spoofing Brave and the Bold #30, where they fight Amazo)
Issue #5 - Starring the Conqueror! (spoofing BaB #28, the first app of the JLofA and Starro)

Of course, the focus wouldn't be on the villains, but on these guys interacting.

I love your depictions of all the characters, omit the Red Rush. I don't know why. War Woman would have been awesome.

Thanks Mistress. I do owe the lesbian angle to Kirkman though.

That, I know already. lol I collect Invincible. I DO kind of wish they'd bring her back.

Thanks guys. :D And if it concerns that team with the Joker and Lady Shiva, then that was me. I'd like to see it revised though.

Yeah. I think you're right, the Squad should be a veneiw for lesser known/less popular characters to get some screen time. And the roles that the popular characters on my team could easily be filled by lesser known characters who embody similar archtypes.

Alright, here's my Suicide Squad:

Wild Dog:

12520163_l.jpg

Role: Field leader, weapons expert.

His deal: After being arrested for murder one, Jack Wheeler struck the same deal with the Feds that so many before him have. He is by far the most moral and genuinely good member of the Squad, his biggest flaw being his anger, which is what got him in jail in the first place. He constantly struggles to keep his teammates in check. As the Squad is a black ops team, and Wheeler has a known history of vigilante activity towards organized crime and terrorist groups, he's the perfect candidate for field leader, as all responsibility for the Squad's actions would be shifted to him if they're ever caught.

Prometheus:

Prometheshock.jpg

Role: Tactitian and technitian.

His deal: Being a psychotically genius anarchist terrorist/serial killer, he is by far the biggest risk for the team. While he seems faily polite and sociable most of the time, a few members of the team and several higher ups are wary of him. Naturally, the government thinks they can control him. Naturally, they're wrong.

Onomatopoeia

GREEN_ARROW_13.jpg

Role: Interrogations and assasinations.

His deal: His purpose in the book is to flesh him out as a character a bit, although still keep him fairly mysterious. Some hints will be given as to his past, mostly through the higher ups discussing his files. At the least, it will be said that he has a history in the military. Because they share very similar world veiws and psychosese, he and Promeutheus quickly form their own clique.

Plastique:

Capatom8.jpg

Role: Demolitions.

Her deal: The only Squad "alum" on the team, she helps keep the loose cannons in line. Most see her as the de facto second in command.

Lady Flash:

chris3.jpg

Role: Recon and "tank" (I/E: High powered meta).

Her dea: One of the more psychologically damaged members, she's a bit hard to control or keep stable. Her mentality is very childlike, and as such she is prone to the expected irrational and overly emotional behaivior that most children have. She looks to Plastique as a sort of mentor and mother figure.

Bloodsport:

bloodsport1.jpg

Role: Transportation.

His deal: Since almost nothing is known about the third Bloodsport, he's pretty much a clean slate with which to work. His real name is Thomas Mayhew. He's a prepetual thrill seaker and adrenaline junkie, and overall the living definition of a hooligan. He was incarcerated in Stryker's for assault and battery after starting a barroom brawl. When the second Bloodsport was killed by the Aryan Brotherhood, Thomas was able to get his hands on his teleporter. Figuring out what it really was, he was able to activate it and escape. Once on the outside, he became a mercenary. After failing to fill out a contract to kill Superman, he was arrested. Some time later, he joined the squad. Being almost completely amoral, he is prone to ruffle the feathers of his fellow teamates. He is especiall spiteful towards Plastique, and is prone to take advantage of Lady Flash.

Lady Vic:

LadyVic01.jpg

Role: Stealth/assassinations.

Her deal: She's a pompous, cold blooded aristocrat who thinks far too highly of herself. Her huge ego and stuborn nature make her a poor team player, although other members of the team can usually force her into going along with the plan. She regularly tries to seduce Wild Dog, most like in an atempt to manipulate him so she'll have more influence over the team. This usually makes him very uncomfortable.

Now that's a pretty dang awesome team. Of course, I have to ask, who dies?

Way I see it, in the story I'd be doing, most of the deaths would come from back stabbing within the team rather than the enemy getting the better of them. The last story arc would have Prometheus and Onomatopoeia going rogue, stealing nuclear defense codes, and holding the world ransom in an atempt to dissovle all governmental powers. Through this, Promethues kills Lady Flash, Plastique blows up Onomatopoeia, and Wild Dog becomes cripples fighting Prometheus. I was thinking that maybe there'd be a mission involving the New Gods, and Lady Vic would get left behind, and Dessad would then capture her for "play time." Leaves her fate vaguely ambiguous, but implies a terribly painful death. Though, Lady Vic would probably die in an earlier mission. I'll also probably add a few more members later on, since it seems like a kind of smallish team, and a few of them would probablet bite it aswell.
