Anubis' "How would you do it?" Thread.

Anubis, my man, MORE WORDS! I don't care if it's negative, JUST EXPAND!

Noodles.

Boobs.

Incontinence.

Porn.

Those words good enough for you?

Anyway, not bad. Reminds me of the Lightning Saga currently going on in JSofA and JLofA. With the Silver Age Legion of Superheroes finding themselves in the modern era. All you need is for the Martian Manhunter to be out of his gourd and it would be a perfect allegory.

And that Batman/Wolvie scene was pretty funny. "I'm the Goddamn Wolverine." Ha, you crazy.

well, I constantly see "I'm the Goddamn Batman" over in the old Mondo Funky thread... and of course every one knows "I'm the best there is at what I do." I was trying to transpose them. They are somewhat similar in how they are handled. I'm thinking of doing a Spidey Vs. Supes where Spidey comes out on top (good ol' Nick has found out about them and Tony has already come up with artificial Kryptonite... not that supes knows this). Pete, being the big brain o' the group makes some in the high school science lab, and mixes it in with his webbing.

...

and for the record, none of those words was any good except for Boobs.

Don't bother, that would be f**king stupid.

And come on, everybody loves incontinence.

How about this: Coprophilia

Look it up. Greatest-word-ever!

I think I already know what it means (thank you Dr. Huang), and I think you must be beaten with a thousand blazing ferrets for bringing it up.

The problem is they are all so damn powerful. I was thinking they might send Supes to the Inhumans and try and open up relations, but that's even dumber. Plus I have NO idea what to do with the other four.

First of all, they are not that much more powerful than Marvel characters. Second, we're talking about the DCAU version of the JLA. Significantly watered down. Truth is, you'd have to handicap the Marvel Characters for it to be a proper match.

well who would you have against Superman then? And I'm not writing Sentry, so you can forget it. Maybe he turns against Iron Man? Green Lantern takes on Dr. Doom (because I friggin' feel like it)? Supergirl vs... oh, yes, Supergirl Vs. Deadpool! Flash Vs. Guantlet? Wonder Woman Vs. Ms. Marvel?... actually... actually.... *droolz*

Does this really have to digress into a one on one battle thing? I mean, that's so....cliche.

Plus, why not write Sentry? You wanna be a good writer, you have to be able to take on the hard stuff. Powerful characters can be compelling, if you know what you're doing.

I hate the Sentry because... well it's a crappy character. written in to supposedly have been there the entire thirty years of continuity. He's the biggest retcon-screw-over I've ever seen. I've looked him up, tried to friggin' understand him. I STILL DON'T GET IT! Pluse I'm not to fond of Bendis (luckily I'm not into noir)

F**k Bendis. Bendis doesn't have anything to do with the core of he character. He's doing his best to follow suit, but some people just don't have it in them to balance the scales. The guy doesnt know how to write him as good as he can and has been written by his creator, Jenkins. The Sentry is a character who has to hold back because his dark side counter acts all the good he does, and as a result, he can be rather indecisive, and lets face it, a bit of a *****. (ANd that's all Bendis tends to see, though this last issue of Migthy shows some improvement.) He can beat the s**t outta just about everybody. He used to be the greatest hero of all time. He knows this. Which makes it worse for him. To have been, THE guy, and now he's gotta be watched for the rest of his days like a guy who gets convicted for messing around with seventeen year old jail bait who told him she was twenty when he met her. But he's still out there, trying to do good, all the while knowing that for every life he saves, the Void will take away that exact same amount. Think about having to live like that. You can't sit on your ass and do nothing when you know people need help, and you can save them. Easily. But by doing so, someone else will pay the price later on down the line. That's what makes him one of the most facinating superheroes i've ever read. I mean, what do you do? It all seems so pointless, but you still have to do something. And thats just the tip of the iceburg with him.

It's the with greater power comes even greater responsibility factor. It's one of the things that makes Supes so damn cool.

whoa... major mind-****. I didn't know that the Void was still operating. the Wiki made it seem like they had succefully merged all three together...

Hey, can I get some commentary on my Pym-Wasp stuff, or my Spider-Girl stuff?

~*~

By God I hate Newton. Maybe it's because he so clearly defined my life. I can violate every law written down except one... For every action there will be an equal, but opposite reaction. For every Push, a pull. for every jump, a fall. For every Sentry... a Void. Can you know what it is to be the monster you fight against every day? To have to live, forever, in fear of destroying everything you love? To fight in futillity against your self?

I can't stop though. I can hear them, see them, feel them. These powers give me that. I know what is happening to them and... I must do something. They called me their golden guardian. I want to guard them. I'm not even sure anymore if it's because I am that good person... or if it's to spite the Void. My mind is so fragmented... I can't...

Stranger to myself, stranger to the world, stranger... but not to C.L.O.C. He remembers. Maybe that's why I created him, so someone would be able to remember those good things I did, even if I wiped myself from the face of the earth. Maybe that's selfish, but... when I can't even remember my own creation... I want someone to remember. Maybe he's a warning system for others, so that they'll know I've broken. But how could they stop me. Most of them still think I'm being poetic when I say I have the power of a million exploding suns. I'm not. That power is within every cell of my body. How could they stop me... him... it... us... the Void.

I know why I called myself the Sentry, I wanted to be the lookout. I wanted to guard the world, protect them. The Void... why did I call myself that. Why did the monster...

What page is the Wasp/Pym stuff on? Your Spidey-Girl is always entertaining. I've yet to have to tell you it sucks. When it does, don't worry, I will.

And nice Sentry monologue. I think you're starting to get it. There is a question of whether or not the Void is the by product of the serum, or the Sentry is. Is Bob Reynolds really a monster, and the Sentry is the universe trying to balance out his carnage? It's pretty effin interesting. Which is why I think Sentry should have had a solo on-going and not be apart of the Avengers. Not just to delve so much into his f**ked up psyche, but to read about some untold adventures from his past, other off springs of the Weapon Plus program, and see some actual Invincible level character growth over here. You just aren't gonna get that in a team book written by a guy who only really writes street level and solo heroes well.

The Pym/Wasp stuff was last page. and I really like to hear what I did right... I'm an attention ****e. plus as I'm trying to insert a character into the civil war, I want to make sure she doesn't become a Deus Ex Machina. so please read and opinionate.

Hmm... The Solitary Sentry

a solo book the Sentry who makes a decision that he thinks will finally save the world from him. He exiles himself. he takes off into space and just keeps flying. Out here he finds real tests of his strength. His existance with the Void becomes more and more seperate. he comes to realize he was both, but he finds times where he is physically seperate from the Void, able to actually fight it hand to hand, but still unable to stop it's balancing force. His journey takes him all the way to the ends of the Marvel Universe and beyond. those he meets include, the Skrulls (he recreates their homeworld... only to have the Void destroy Tarnax VII), the Living Tribunal where he begs to be judged, and even... The One Above All (who takes on the shape of a cheery old man with glasses) when he asks for the purpose of his existance.

all through out each issue is in two parts: the Now and the Then. Just like him, it is in two parts, only ours are not good an evil, they are present and past. thusly we learn the stories that he erased from the world, and the heroes who hide among the population, the other results of the Weapons Pluse Program which include Weapon 5.1: the son of a former participant. His mother, Weapon V, was supposed to have been given omega level telekinesis, however the experiment apparently failed. she was saved from termination by a lab tech and smuggled away. she married a horrible man due to low self esteem and bore him a son. the son showed no signs of his latent powers until seven years after his mother's death (Officially a hit and run, but most know the husband had something to do with it) when his father is wailing on him. He launched his father through a pole, killing his father.

DizzZam!

That is a lot of reading and critiqueing I gotta do! Alright fellas, give me a couple ours to read this so if I don't respond to convo it's because I'm engrossed in catching up and eating a meal so DEEMAR on Pause!

John T. Smith was supposed to just fade away, become lost in the crowd. Those who wanted him to do this knew that there was no better place to lose an individual than Japan. John T. Smith was sent to live an ordinary urban life in Tokyo Japan doing graphic design for an advertisment firm. However John T. Smith had a secret.

It was the kind of secret that beat at his chest, begging to be let free. It was the kind of secret that was hard to keep because of his very nature. Which is why a little of that secret escaped one day when he saw a mugging. without hesitating he rushed in, disarmed the gunman, and bound him with some cable that was lying near by. the tourists who had seen him do it, hadn't gotten a good look at him because of his speed. all they knew was a handsome white guy with brown hair.

John fled, but the rumors grew. In Tokyo, there is a propensity for idolizing. And so, when John couldn't control his need to help people, he would wear a mask. The fact that they knew he was American from his accent, lead the newspapers to give John his name. He was known as "The Cowboy". Seeing no reason to try and play this down, John, instead, decided to play into it. He created a costume, which included a long white trench coat and stetson. blue shirt, red neckcheif and mask, jeans and boots. He carried a lasso, whip, and six-shooters. he would show up suddenly, leave faster, and never use his guns on the badguys. He was "The Cowboy".

John T. Smith lived in fear that someone would realize who he was. that someone would connect the dots. His powers, his voice, his spirit. John had sworn that he would never again be known as he once was, that from the day he set foot in Japan, he would forever be John T. Smith... but would someone know? could someone guess that an Iconic hero the world was currently grieving for was in fact alive and fighting crime in Tokyo, Japan?

Wild Spirit

Totemistic magic is generally considered a weak branch due to the fact that even when done properly, the caster must still fight their own battle and is still in signifigant danger. There is a singular exception to this: the Wild Spirit. It is an amalgamation of the essence of every animal and plant to have ever called our world home. It rarely takes a host, but when it does... the results are nothing short of a bomb.

Into our generation was born a host for the Wild Spirit, Montgomery Danvers. He scrawny, intellectual, rich boy. on his seventeenth birthday, as his parents began to berate him for wanting to be a computer programmer (rather than a lawyer like his father), he felt threatened... the Wild Spirit took over. when he came too several hours later, his family was dead. Torn to shreads.

Now he has only once companion, Nihls, a Being who exists for the express purpose of teaching him to harness and control the Wild Spirit. Nihls can force a transformation, or turn one off. He takes the form of a 35 year old british man. He is mortal now.

Basically this kid is Hulk Level without such a dramatic change. his nails lengthen into claws, his teeth sharpen, and his eyes slit, but that is the only difference asside from how he carries himself.

From the guy who brought you:

IBAE-Verse

Marvel-Knock-Off-Verse

Cursed-Verse

Hell has risen, making it's attacks on the world more prominent. God has sent blessings across the world.

Moses and the Plagues

Mark believe he is normal. he believes he has no special abilities, but when ten people show up on his door step saying God told them he was in charge, he has to question.

Dana is a 27 year old farmer from Ireland, but He finds he can transmute water into whatever liquid he wishes.

Kyle is a 16 year old athlete who can take on the characteristics of reptiles and amphibians, including monsterous strength

Fran and Jan, a pair of 32 year old twin nuns, both able to command insects

Mike and Michelle, a pair of 25 year old twins (respectively a banker and drug dealer). Mike could cast a lethal disease on animals, while Michelle could strike those around her with horrible boils.

Vera, a 64 year old nurse, was able to expell locust from her mouth to devour anything not animal.

James, a 29 year old USN sailor, was able to project fire and ice from his hands.

Naiomi, a 17 year old girl from South Africa, was able to deprive any area of light.

Johnny, an 8 year old boy from Australia, has the ability to kill men with his hands.

Devil Man

There once was a demon named Peril. His job was to kill those of valor and courage, those we call "heroes". He was very good at his job. So good in fact that he screwed up the balance. And so Peril was reassigned to work with "The Other Side", with the assurance of Satan that if and when Hell won, he would be welcomed back with open arms.

Now he is stripped of his powers and forced to live as a mortal, earning back his powers one by one through good deeds. God was kind enough to make sure he had a job set up (911 operator) however nothing he does for that job counts as a good deed. It's a story of living life and finding those little good deeds that we can all do. figuring out the real difference between good and evil, and choosing a side.

Mortal Flesh

Rigel was an Angel of light. His greatest claim to fame was being the star of Bethlehem. lately his jobs were more routine; Guardian Angel. however, he made the wrong joke to the wrong being. He offended the Angel of Death, and displayed Pride unbecoming of an Angel. and thusly he was struck to earth. the only power stripped from him was his immortality. He was bound forever to the family he formerly served. However the people he was charged to protect are dead. Now he lives with their children. their 22 year old daughter who was in seminary to become a nun when her parents were killed. a crisis of faith caused her to give up the church, desperation made her take up stripping. Also, their son, a moody 16 year old... okay, so he's just a teenager.

Rigel is trying to change his ways and show that he deserves to be in heaven again, however his pride keeps making him screw up. He does manage to get a job in a fashion designer's office to help pay his part of the rent. He is still a guardian angel, with all the instincts that come with, however he is bound by his prison... his Mortal Flesh.

Paradox

The Devil believes he has the ability to goad God into doing things. Read the book of Job and you'll know what I mean. But what isn't mentioned is what happens at the end of the book Job. The Devil accuses God of cheating, as the Man was mortal and made by god and would have to prepare for the next world. So god gave him a comprimise. They would, together, make a being, and immortal being of great power. they would release it into the world and see what it became. and so the Paradox was created.

He walked the earth, though he was not man. He held powers of both angels and demons, yet he was neither. he lived, yet he did not die. Now, in this turbulent time, as the Devil sends his legions across the earth, the Paradox has settled down in chicago with a beautiful woman whom he has began to fall in love with. Who's call will he answer? Who will the Paradox side with?
Guest starring Jesus.

Angels...

a group of teenagers died in Hell's first strike. becaue of this fact, God offers them a chance: return to earth as soldiers, or continue on to the great unknown. In fear they agree to be his soldiers.

Chorus: formerly a girl who prided herself on her voice is struck mute, and granted the ability to do the same to others. she can also understand any language spoke to her.

Vegan: he acted as a predator among his classmates, and so he is stripped of that ability; he can change into any Herbivore

Trumpet: a gossip was was quite sadistic with her words, is stripped of the ability to lie, granted the ability to know the truth behind lies, and a voice that can be heard from a mile away.

Diamond: She was actually a good person with no outsanding sins (she was goth, but that doesn't preclude goodness), she was granted a healing ability both for herself and for those she could lay her hands upon.

Arch: He was too consumed with himself to care for others, so he is charged with caring for his team. he can hear their thoughts in his head constantly. he is also strong and fast and bears the Sword of St. Joan.

The Godsends...

When we first detected them, we thought they were the worst recorded meteor shower in history. then they hit the atmosphere. 600 of them rained down all over the planet. They were people. more than half of them fell in the United states, with the rest scattered across the globe. They were checked every way possible: DNA, Finger prints, even dental records. they didn't exist. These strangers were just that: Strangers to everyone: including themselves. They had no memories. They all had a full working command of at least one language, though many of them have multiple languages. With one of the strangers, there was a metallic plate with strange symbols. after months of trying, it is finally deciphered into binary. it's words... "You will Require Champions"

The American strangers are all gathered in a facility that becomes known jokingly as "The Tank". They eventually take names from geographic locations. Then the more bizarre things begin to happen, before they can be released into the public, they begin display super-human abilities. Each with different powers. Eventually, Homeland security admits to itself that the only reason these "Strangers" as they are now called, remain in the Tank is that they don't yet realize HomeSec can't keep them there. and so they are allowed to leave and make their way on their own. the ones who hang back are the ones we focus on.

Beale Street: Flight, strength, and invulnerabilty. he has a strong sense of right and wrong, and an instinct to protect. He is the first to volunteer to help HomeSec with their new department to police and protect Strangers

Thames River: She can unleash any number of effects from her eyes, including the abilty to see in different ways. She is laid back and quite easy going. her closest confidant is Mississippi River. the two have declared themselves sisters.

Mississippi River: She has the ability to move through solid objects. She has a dark, and somewhat macabre nature (Think Wednesday Addams). She is feircely loyal to Thames River

Manhattan Island: Cursed with the ability to heal from any form of attack (He has been crushed by a cement block. when his body healed he re-attatched his own head), however not with a desensitization to pain. He is very introspective and quiet. Very perceptive.

Parthenon Temple: A girl granted hightend senses and reactions and a natural ability to fight. She is dark and brooding. She prays to Athena, as a goddess of war.

Grand Canyon: possesses super-speed. She is the most intelligent of the group as her speed grants her more study time and patience than the rest. The world moves slow to her, she sees no reason to speed things up faster than they need to be. She is very patient.

I don't know why this came to me.

She walked into the office, which was buried deep in the heart of Camp Hammond. He was asleep at his desk. She almost laughed. She could remember when he was always like this. She looked at the papers on his desk, all about different recruits and their powers. There was one on top that had two red words written across it; "WHY? MAGIC?" She looked at the top. It was labeled "Trama"

She tapped him on the back of the neck, giving him only the lightest of "stings"

He sat bolt up right, looking around. When he spotted her, he relaxed, giving her an exaspirated grin.

"Hey," she greeted him softly.

"Hey you," he returned.

She gave him a warm smile. He still felt so damn guilty. It had been years, almost a decade, but he still hadn't forgiven himself. "Working hard?" she asked.

"yeah," he yawned. when he finally closed his mouth he looked at her with a cocked head. "Why are you here?" he asked curiously. She was extremely busy these days. She had a team to lead, a label to run, and a show to host.

"I gotta check on you from time to time," she replied softly. She ran her hands through his hair playfully. She looked at the floor. "So, how's things with Tigra," she asked mockingly.

he chuckled, covering his face with his palm. "I can't believe they ran that story."

"I know," she agreed smiling broadly. "Like you and she..." she started, but giggled too much to finish.

"I hear she's more into Ares anyway," He replied as he stood and stretched.

"Good luck with that," she chuckled. "Is there anyone?" she asked seriously.

"Bonita, but it's tough with her living out in Texas. I visit from time to time but..." he trailed off.

"Work at it," she encouraged. "Don't let distance be your excuse."

"I-I-"

"You're afraid," She replied sternly. "You've been afraid for so long. You haven't made a real effort on a relationship since..." she trailed off.

"It's not like it's unreasonable," he responded sadly. "Studies show that..."

"It wasn't you," she pleaded. "Your head was being messed with. Haven't you been in the desert long enough?" she asked him. "And besides, at least Bonita knows all of this. She understands where you're coming from. I think the fact that she is making an effort, knowing all of this, is a good sign."

"I just... I won't be that again. I won't hurt people like that again," he swore, like he did every day.

"that's why you're working here," She surmised, finally knowing the answer to a question that had been plaguing her.

he nodded silently. he picked up the profile marked "Trauma". "This kid... I don't know if he's the next Vision... or Ultron. I have to make sure."

Jan nodded. she sat on his desk as he fell back into his chair. "Speaking of your 'Kids,'" she said. "Have you gone to L.A. like you promised?"

Hank continued his silence.

"He'd probably like to meet you," she said. "They say his name is Victor... you always did like that name."

He was silent for a few moments longer. she opened her mouth to speak, but he cut her off. "You're busy," he said quietly. "You should probably go."

"You can always talk to me, you know," she said quietly.

"I know," he said, looking her in the eyes for the first time since she woke him. "I thank god for that."

She brushed his cheek. "I may never be in love with you again, but I will always love you."

"I guess there's no getting rid of you," he smiled as he walked her to the door.

"Nope, you're stuck with me," she replied with a smirk.

they exchanged kisses on the cheek as they parted.

He returned to his desk and looked at the document on top. He made several decisions. First, he would fax the profile to Crimson, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s sorcerer, then he would put in for time off, then he would catch the first plane for Houston.

I don't know man. Pym's got enough problems with people constantly dragging out the wife beater thing, now he's a dead beat dad to boot? Oh well, so, whose the baby momma?

Not a deadbeat, they're talking about Victor Mancha, Ultron's latest scion. Ultron considers Pym his father, so I assumed Pym considers Ultron his son. thusly Vision and Victor are his grandsons.

Why the names of geographic locations?

I just liked the idea. I mean six hundred people just showing up need names. not many people are named so directly after geographic locations. there's also, one more twist. They discover that they can find genetic matches... but only through mitochondrial DNA... they have mothers here on earth.
