More of my "Just Imagine" marvel world... Black Panther

T'Challa T'Chaka was an orphan from New York City. He grew up with his grandmother reading about his father, who had been a political activist, in the family album. T'Challa was a smart kid, especially in geology. He quickly graduated from Empire State's pre-grad program and was on his way to a doctorate in Geology. his minor in political sciences was because of his father.

He took a trip one summer to Africa to study geological findings in the nation of Niganda, where there is a mine of Vibranium, one of the most mysterious metals in the world. There are only two known sources of Vibrainium, asteroids and the mines of Niganda. However, due to unstable leadership and constant tribal warring, the mines of Niganda remain closed, because whoever controls the mines, controls the region.

Traveling there T'Challa attempts to study the mines, however he finds himself distracted by the plight of the people surrounding the mines. For miles and miles around the mines tribes and villages have been subjugated and put under. The war is tearing them all apart. T'Challa, an expert martial artist (his grandmother's way of ensure he never joined a gang), puts down a small convoy of Nigandan soldiers. The villagers begin to regard him as a hero. soon more tales of his bravery and speed spread. They begin to call him "The Black Panther" for his stealth and ferocity. They appoint him the leader of their people. They beg for the right to mine the precious Vibranium ore, and he of course gives no objection. While almost all the men are in the mines, T'Challa teaches the women to fight, so that there is no such thing as "Defenseless".

The years slip by quickly, despite the constant battle to keep the mines running. T'Challa has been named King of a very small nation, which he has named "Wakanda" after the near by mountains. The military is made almost entirely of women, and the Men have become experts at mining, forging, and working Vibranium. The nation is now becoming a major supplier for armor. But the fight is constant, no one wishes this fledgling nation to survive... lead by a man who wanted only to study, and found himself King.

Hmm..it has potential if only for the idea of BlackPanther being a sort of warlord/Rebel. Yet I think he should simply be an African schooled in America.

Hmm..it has potential if only for the idea of BlackPanther being a sort of warlord/Rebel. Yet I think he should simply be an African schooled in America.
That's a fair point. I made him an American because I wanted him used to a land of freedom and opportunity so that when he went to the land that would one day be "Wakanda" And saw their strife, it would be inconceivable to him that goverments treat people this way. Also his lack of desire to be their leader, I didn't emphasize this enough. the people pretty much railroad him into being their king by constantly asking him how things should be done, if they can do things, all he wants to do is study Vibranium... you know, I'm starting to think you're right... Okay, he was born in Niganda... He was born to the "President" of Niganda and sent to learn in America. He learned to like the values of the Americans and developed a love for geology. Going back to his home nation he saw with new eyes the tribulations his father heaped upon the people, so he organized those who lived around the mines, taught the women to fight while the men mined. Better?

Anyway, my Just Imagine Deadpool

My name is "Wade Wilson". That much, I'm absolutely postive about. I'm from Toronto, Canada, I'm pretty damn sure about that too. I was a soldier in the Canadian Forces Land Force, that I think is right. You see two years ago, I woke up in New York City, a place I always wanted to visit. The only problem was, it wasn't the New York City I knew; There were super-people all over, like some damn comic book. Actually, according to the voice in my head, That's what all this is: A damn comic book. He, I think it's a "He", tells me I'm "Deadpool", a ruthless mercenary. Oh, You think I'm crazy too. Everyone thinks I'm crazy, I think I'm crazy.

Now people keep comin' after me because they think I did something. The only person I recognize in this new life is Althea Alfred Blinks, my Mother's best friend. She swears she doesn't know me, but I'm going to keep that blind old bat near by until she remembers!

SPIDER-MAN, SPIDER-MAN, DOES WHATEVER A SPIDER CAN

So, a while back, I gave you all my views on Spider-Man. In various threads on the Hype! I've already disclosed some of those views. For one, I like my Spider-Man with a secret identity. Then there's all of the changes that have been made to Spidey's life lately. Lost his job at the Bugle, lost his job as a teacher, joined the (New) Avengers, lost a few friends, became an outlaw, and he's on the verge of losing his Aunt May, AGAIN. Obviously, it's time for some changes.

spidermancj5.jpg

Of course, you can't just turn the clock. Skrulls, reality punches, you name it, they're getting beyond clichéd, and I don't think we need to saddle Spidey with another clone (even though I loved Ben Reilly). How do we get that genie back into his bottle though? I have no idea right now, but in my little universe, nobody but a select few know that Peter Parker is actually Spider-Man. Work with me here.

Now, controversial point number two: Mary Jane and the wedding. Well, a controversial point according to Joey Q anyway. It's not so controversial with me. Pete's about thirty now, so he should be settling down. He's been married to MJ for the last twenty years real-time, and well, it's become a part of the mythos. When I became a fan of Spidey's, he had long since settled down with MJ. When used right, she's a nice asset to Spidey's personal life, something that not every writer has been able to do successfully. As for her being a supermodel, I'd push that aspect to the background. It can be used to great comedic effect, but usually, it hinders the story. As a retired supermodel, there's less public interest, but still enough to keep Mary Jane a viable character in her own right. Besides, most supermodels kinda stop being supermodels after the age of thirty. Look at folks like Tyra Banks. They've move into other areas of life and work. Mary Jane's that kind of person. Stunningly gorgeous, but she's able to blend into the world just a little bit more.

Then there's Spidey's primary foe. The Green Goblin. Norman Osborn. The man I would kill in my very first story arc. Dead, deader than dead. The man sorely needs to go. Heck, he should've never been brought back. Let Norman Osborn die and continue the legacy of the Green Goblin in some other way. Heck, I'd disconnect it from the Osbornes all together for a while. Have an unknown on the scene for a while, as we re-introduce one of Spidey's old foes, the Black Tarantula. He's smart, ruthless and physically superior to Spidey, all hallmarks of a great nemesis.

Now we've established the two primary supporting characters of Spidey's "new" life, MJ and the Black Tarantula. What about Aunt May? It's time for a natural death. No grand supervillain schemes, no grand nothing, May just doesn't wake up one day, which is more devastating than any other way I can think of. Spidey literally can't/couldn't do anything to stop this. You'd have the obvious arc in which Spidey desperately tries to find the villain responsible, only to learn at the end that the only one responsible is life itself.

There's two areas of Spider-Man's life left to discuss. His supporting cast as both Peter Parker and as Spider-Man. First off, I'd make Peter a high school teacher again, one of the better developments of the last few years. Unlike what some may think, that doesn't exclude the Daily Bugle cast at all. It actually allows for a far more flexible portrayal of Pete's personal life. In one arc, we could focus on his troubles as a teacher, and have him interact with his fellow teachers and the principals. Basically, Spider-Man meets "Boston Public". Other, but less frequent, arcs could focus more on the photography work, and we'd see JJ, Robbie and Betty.

Finally, there are the other heroes. While New Avengers focusses on Spidey with the Avengers, I'd have the main books show some more team-ups with his other friends. Daredevil, and of course, the Human Torch. Something that's sadly been abandoned were the Richards/Parker family dinners we saw in Spider-Man/Human Torch. Time to bring that, along with a little more Marvel interconnectivity back into the title.

Nice. And I definately agree about May. Not that I dislike the character, but her death in the 90s was a great story. Pete can beat up bank robbers and masked psychos, but you can never punch a disease.

The teaching / photography aren't even hard to mesh. "Oh hey look at me, I'm a teacher! Oh hey look, teachers get paid ****. I wonder if the Bugle needs some freelance photos? Oh snap, they do!" I mean hell they were able to write him as a student / photographer, there's no good reason they can't write him as a teacher / photographer.

I'm not as down with the dead-aunt-may thing, if only because it's pretty much inevitable that someone's going to bring her back, and it's not like it hurts anything having her around.

On the other hand, totally agreed on the Norman thing, with the precondition that before he dies, Peter needs to beat him into admitting he never knocked up Gwen.

Civil War or How I see it going down.
In reading Civil War as imagined by Millar it seemed that the story was written just to get the heroes to fight each other. Guys who were friends one minute were trying to kill each other the next. Heroes became villains way too quick.
However in writting my Civil War i realized I wasnt comfortable with everything that had gone on before. So I changed the past of the Marvel Universe. Disassembled didnt happen the way Bendis wrote it. Wanda in that story was a Space Phantom that lost itself in the role of the Scarlett Witch. Hawkeye dies when he takes a blast that was meant for Cap(Much more heroic that the suicide run on the Kree battle ship with a quiver full of smoldering arrows). In the aftermath they never disband as they realize that the world needs the Avengers. A new team is formed: Captain America, Iron Man, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Spider-Woman, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel and Wonderman.
House of M never happened. Mutants are still at levels where in a few generations they will out number humanity. Scott has taken all the fragment teams and forged them into one team with Storm and himself as team leaders.

Civil War....
I changed the Stamford Heroes from the New Warriors to the Young Avengers.
I dont see the NW being that stupid or making rookie mistakes like that. The YA i see making that mistake as they have been in the business of costumed heroeing only a year at the most amybe more. However I am not killing off any of them but the Stamford disaster is what pushes them to be better heroes....and even giving them someone to avenge.

Villians. No matter what anyone tells me Tony Stark was the villain of Civil War. Since this was a political attack there are a few villians who'll use this method...Red Skull, Hydra but I like to use a villain no one has heard from in a while and fit into the new background that I gave him which will lead into next summers big miniseries event. So the villain of this piece is the Hatemonger. Using his Hate weapon he stirs up the public against the heroes.

Stratagy. Cap's big plan was to just keep on fighting crime???? This guy was in France during the occupation...he knows how to run a guerrilla campaign.

No choice. To turn up the heat on things the Government doesnt offer a choice on quitting or working for them. They are told to quit or be arrested. The government begins putting their own heroes on the streets as a federal hero team. Since the US has been making superhumans since 1941 I am sure they still are. This will give our heroes someone to fight. However the Government also has their top secret Weapon H. Weapon H turns out to be the Hulk but under control of the US Government. What do you think he'll do when he gets free...lead into WWH.

more to come....

Some stuff I like, some stuff I find kinda meh. Better than normal Civil War though.

Thanks.
What were you "meh" about???

I found in writing this it got me excited about the Marvel superheroes again.
I have written the first issue and am in the middle of the second. I'll get the first one up as soon as I get a good internet signal(out to sea right now)

Nice art work you did that?

more to come....

Very good Roach very good indeed. :word:

Trust me more is to come including the next event it leads into...lol

I welcome it.

Just keep it short and sweet, no need to go into Zoken porportions or written dialogue.

I have a short attention span.

that hurts Dee, I've been being good lately.

Just Imagine--- Iron Man

Tony Stark is one of the world's most brilliant inventors and electronics and robotics engineers. It was no surprise to anyone when he built the world's first, self sustaining artificial heart. Though, most did not know it was for himself. Tony Stark has a debilitating disease that is slowly causing parts of his body to die. He's already replaced several internal organs and now he finds that his limbs are next on the list. However, his prosthetics can't blend in with his body. The bright red and yellow material he's built them from, not to mention their bulkiness, will identify him straight off as a cyborg.

More stress comes in the form of "Mandrin Tech" a tech firm rising overnight in Bejing. the leader seems to have his eyes set on taking Tony Stark out of the buisness spotlight.

With Tony rapidly becoming more man than machine, his financial troubles, and the departure of his girlfriend, Tony finds the only things he has left in his life are the people he believed below him: His secretary, chaufer, body guard, and butler. will their support be enough to keep his Iron heart Human?

ok them I'll just post the synopsis...but the stuff I do with Moon Knight and Dr Strange I really love

Not bad.

I'm working on an idea for a Dynamite Entertainment series based on The Greatest American Hero. I'm not entirely sure about the specifics, but it would introduce a new ally, a vigilante akin to a low budget Batman, and some villains, including a young, rich computer whiz who becomes a super villain for the thrill of it.

Ok dude I'm so feeling this, it a no brainer but yeah its good.

Nah man, that's Adam Hughes.

What were you "meh" about???
- The Avengers feel a little oddly assembled.
- Moon Knight seems out of place.
- Would've preferred complete rookie heroes, but the YA are better than the NW.
- There's really no reason to mess with Planet Hulk/World War Hulk.

Can I get an opinion on Powering a non-powered hero/character?

I've got a character and I'm torn about giving her powers, despite that they would be right up her alley. Here's the thing: She's a Zombie Killer. She has Alice's demeanor (From Resident Evil) but Ash Williams' Style (from Evil Dead). I pretty much seller her as "Killing Zombies the old fashioned way: With a chainsaw, a shotgun, and high explosives." and through her "creation" and her adventures she really has no powers, just a strange ability to survive Zombie outbreaks and exterminate the undead-bastards.

I'm considering giving her control over the Zombies. They would, from that point on, be an extension of her being, like extra limbs. Opinions?

They are pretty much the New Avengers but without Spider-man or Wolverine. I added Iron Fist because I really dont see Luke Cage making it to the big leagues without bringing his biy with him. I removed Sentry and replaced him with Wonderman because I think he could fit the job of the heavy bruiser that the team needs. I added Ms. Marvel because they need the added muscle. I found a really cool use for Moon Knight and thought it would fit nicely in the Avengers. Without giving away too much I made him a little like the Question from Justice League Unlimited.
I wanted to use the Young Avengers because then it gives them a reason once the dust clears to be heroes. It gives them a reason to avenge. They made a mistake and are out there making sure it doesnt happen again.
As mush as I didnt want to mess with Planet Hulk/WWH I wanted a hero to be controlled by the Government that as soon as the heroes saw him they knew they were in trouble. I used Hulk but I may switch it to the Sentry.

The Mighty Marvel

I don't know why but I had this idea for a guy, absolutely no powers, no tech, no magic, no super-hightened skills, just a guy. It might involve some Retconning, but I want to make him old friends with someone in the 616. The thing about him is that he keeps running into supervillians and manages to stop them. sort of like Forbush-Man, but he actually made it. A for-instance: He's fighting the Shocker, the Vulture, and the Rhino. He manages to dodge them each in turn, no amazing acrobatics, he just runs his ass off. He manages to get the Shocker to accidently blast the Vulture, Rhino runs over the Shocker, and then he gets the Rhino to imbed his horn in a thick steel wall. When asked how he manages this he replies "I had a lot of bullies growing up." Kinda like Howard the duck in that he doesn't really have powers, but still manages to get into his fair share of weirdness. In any case, the reason he shows up now is that he is claiming to be a super-hero in protest of the SHRA. The very fact that he has no powers, no super-skills, and no tech means he can't be drafted and his basic retort is "So whatchya gonna do about that?"

Of course it'd be a great character to humiliate too. constantly picked on by any character with a sense of humor, Deadpool, Spidey, Wolverine, Torch... actually. The Mighty Marvel is an old Ex-boyfriend of Susan Storm, one that Johnny never liked. the Torch hates him. Given his age, he can also give "In My day" stories while he fights, talking about Golden age and Silver age villainy.

Hero-Verse

Powerful: the story of Amelia Jenson the daughter of Icon and Wonderous, two of the world's most powerful and beloved heroes. She has two secrets she keeps from her parents. The first is that she doesn't want to be a super-hero, and is glad that she was born with no powers. The other is that she is lesbian. Now as she starts public school at the age of 16, she will face new challenges including the love she's been denying for years.

Lovers: the classic tale of boy meets girl with a super-hero twist. When she vanishes leaving him with only a magic sword, he sets out on a quest to find her, and finds himself a hero in the process. She returns home to her lost island home to take her place as Queen of the Amazons, however she carries with her what may be a deadly secret.

Outlaw Princess of the Oceans: the bastard daughter of the Prince of the sea is born with birth defect that makes her skin tone the same as a human, and able to blend in with the surface dwellers. Her mother sends her to live among the humans.

The Prince, the Pauper: A street thug has discovered some abnormalities about himself. After accidently electrocuting three cops he escapes the surface world and finds that not only is he, in fact, a mer-person, but one of nobility.

The Dead-Man: A brilliant scientist working on regenerative medications and formulas mistook an upscale mobster for a legitimate buisness man. When the scientist realized his mistake and demanded an out, the mobster had his apartment torched... with the scientist still in it. To save his life, the scientist imbibed his his formulas. The combination gave him amazing regenerative abilites, enhanced intelligence, and the inability to feel pain. However, his body doesn't full regenerate. He now ressembles a walking corpse. He no longer sleeps, so he spends his days healing the homeless and street folk, and spends the nights reaping his vengence upon the men who killed him and all their ilk. No one knows his name, for we all know that Dead Men tell no tales.

Riddi'Kiks: High God of Vahl. The supreme monarch of an alien world has come to earth to explore the possibilty of allies. The way of his people clashes with the way of his world. Is this being a tyrant or Diety?

Rebel March: God of Rock. He has been watching from the world of the Aesir. He is Rebel March, a diety from another time. He is the god of music of the revolution. He sees the world and wonders what could be done better. he has come to aid those who seek change.

Powerful is as always a good story idea.

The Prince, the Pauper not so much.

The Prince, the Pauper not so much.
fair point, I have another story that does what I really want to do with it, without involving sea-folk or super-humanity of any sort really.

Oh, and "Wonderous" has been changed to "Artemis" as her story has been changed. She is still called "The Last Amazon" but that's becuase someone made a type that has never been corrected. She originally introduced herself as "Artemis; the LOST Amazon". She left the Isle and could never make her way back. so she moved into Man's world.

furthermore, can I get some feed back on "The Dead-Man" I mean he's really the fresh one of the group.

With the Prince, The Pauper story just do away with the atlantis slant.
