Anyone afraid POTC 2 might break any Spidey Records?

It looks like POTC might catch Spiderman... I thought SM3 was a lock to win next year... POTC 3 clearly has the edge

I doubt POTC3 will be so good like POTC2 was.

POTC2 was the only summer blockbuster in July (except SR, which couldn't make $60m opening), that is the case.

But Spider-man 1 had SW-II as very serious competitor and it won this battle.

So I think POTC3 won't make more than $350m this time.

About Spidey 3 vs. Shrek 3, I think there will be the same situation, which happened with Spidey 1 and SW-II.

POTC is now 9 million behing Spider-Man's domestic total of 403 million. It has passed Spider-Mans WW total of 821.7 million. It will be only the 4th movie alltime to break the 400 million domestic figure in it's initial release. Spider-Man, Phantom Menance, Shrek 2, and Titanic are other 4.

Spidey aint skurrred.

I liked POTC2 ,and i will see 3 at some point. But i'm gonna be there for Spiderman 3 Opening night, or Midnioght they day before if they do that. Nothing will stop me from being there. Pirates def takes a backseat to Spidey.

Actually I though POTC1 was better movie than Spidey 1.

But POTC2 wasn't so great like Spidey 2.

I will rate both trilogies after I see Spidey 3 and POTC3.

But now I am much more hyped about Spidey 3 than POTC3.

the only "hype" Potc 3 has is the cliff hanger in 2. Spidey 3 definitly has alot more buzz around it, with venom and all. There are teasers and posters and all that good stuff, where as i haven't seen anything related to Pirates 3.

It's outgrossed spidey's opening weekend with a whopping 20 million.
It's outgrossed spidey domestic and worldwide total. Heck no spiderman movies has ever come close to the 900 million mark and POTC 2 is about to hit 1 billion soon.

POTC 3 will give SPiderman 3 some very tough competition. Spidey 3 has the edge that it's got 2 weeks before shrek arrives. I could see spidey 3 outgrossing the second movie but outgrossing the first is going be hard.

I don't want to soud negative but POTC2 is near the 1Billion$ mark. I think there is no way spidy3 is gonna beat that.
I think this movie will be just for the fans and not for the average movie goers (Allot of people don't even know what the symbiote is)
And i have a feeling this one is gonna make less money than the 2nd. But for us, fans, it will be the best movie ever. (we can only hope)
