Anyone feel the Batman Trilogy won't be regarded as perfect?

While I wouldn't say the trilogy is PERFECT, it doesn't have an overwhelming weak link. I personally do think that while the vast majority of TDKR was very good, the end of it was bad to me (this is all just my opinion, of course). I would say it still goes down as one of the all time great trilogies with Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Back to the Future, and Indiana Jones (I consider the last one to be almost a stand-alone, potential start of a new franchise, as opposed to being part of the trilogy, like the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie).

This Dark Knight trilogy pretty much parallels the Star Wars trilogy perfectly. You start with the first movie, which is amazing and opens people's eyes up to this awesome cinematic universe. The second steps its game up and, in many people's opinions, outshines the first one. They also both include the awesome "downer" endings for our heroes. The final chapter cranks up the action and brings everything to a close, and while so many things about them are pure awesome, they each, in my eyes, have a few cheesier aspects that aren't so great.

I felt like TDKR was Transformers: Dark of the Moon completely deadpanned. Which is fine, I actually like TDotM. So the trilogy is not perfect in the sense that I think TDKR was in fact a step down from the first two, but it's a very, very good trilogy. As some point out here it's not a piece of sh** sequel like X3 or SM3. I feel the reaction to TDKR is very hyperbolic though, at least initially (I think I can see it dying down already frankly) because I think people wanted it to be as good. In my opinion it may not be better than X-Men: First Class and is no Avengers but it's up there in terms of comic movies. Maybe not top 10, but certainly not far from.

It may be like a Return of the Jedi situation.

It definitely won't be regarded as perfect. TDKR is getting mixed reactions from many Nolan-fans.

I personally like all three and think they're incomparable as they each add to the story. At first the pacing of TDKR threw me off, but then I liked it the second time because it really felt like the end.

BB will drag the trilogy down a bit for me. I've never been wild about it though I don't hate it anymore.

I liked it a lot more after watching Rises. I think the series came full circle for sure. However Begins does have some flaws.

I saw TDKR again, and honestly, there's literally entire sequences of that movie that make no sense, and are just plain stupid. It's not a bad film per say. It's just like they took everything that was bad away from the Schumacher films and made them serious. Alfred got to me a little emotionally, and actually I thought the characters overall were way more colorful, but moments were unintentionally hilarious. Bane's voice, Talia's bizarre nonsensical babel, half the dialogue, the lack of any characters you really cared about and some *very* tacked on plot points...but well acted...so it was consistently entertaining even during the groan enducing sections.

[blackout]The threequel curse is alive and well I suppose.

Plus the ending really makes no sense even when you're NOT thinking about it. "Wait, so why does Bruce Wayne fake his death?" He didn't have too? What the hell does the city think? Couldn't he have just lived in Gotham with Selina Kyle, dawning the cap again if he needed to like he was basically doing before. Wouldn't matter if the city thought Batman was dead, they didn't know he was Bruce and he could still run his orphanage or whatever.

Outside of the Alfred speech, which didn't need to be there really, the ending was just tacked on. Lacked any connection to the character motivations. He fights so hard to become Batman again...FOR A FEW HOURS THEN NEVER AGAIN. Weird really?

Also, wouldn't coming back from the dead kind of f*** with criminals anyways. Wouldn't they be like "I hear he can't die".

Why'd he give up Bruce Wayne again?

Since when did Selina Kyle agree to stop being Catwoman. She seemed perfectly happy with that.[/blackout]

Nothing is perfect. Why should this be any different?

I dunno I felt like it was a pretty close to perfect trilogy. TDKR was my favorite of the three batman films (although Heath Ledger's Joker is still the best villain of the series). I loved the ending, it was the ending that I felt Batman deserves and it works for this movie universe. At first I did not know what to make of Bane's voice, but I actually like it and think it suits Nolan's Bane and makes his character appear more sinister (that is just my opinion though). Like I said I felt like this series was pretty close to perfect in my opinion. I like how JGL acted as a Robin to Batman without actually being Robin. It made Batman seem less like a dad and mentor, and I like how Bruce let him take over the reins as Batman

Of course it wont get into history books as a perfect trilogy. Because it isent! Batman Begins and TDK were flawed already.

Actually, I cant think of any "perfect" trilogy. Like already said, nothing is perfect.

I think TDK is the best by a wide margin. The Joker is just too good, and the stakes are more interesting in that film.
