The Amazing Spider-Man Anyone hate the shoes?

I don't see why so many comic book fans will criticize anything that tries to portray a superhero realistically. Not talking away their powers, but simply trying to base them in the real world. Because that's apparently the biggest mistake in the world. So much complaining, jesus christ.

I have my opinions but don't wanna be a daegenspear on this thread so I'm just gonna drop it. We're getting off topic anyway.

I like a hero to be shown how he would be in real life. I don't see a live action film to pretend there are new laws of physics and social norms. That, is actually why I watch cartoons.

Webb could've very well still had some kind of realism to Spider-Man without giving him old sneakers to wear. As I said, Raimi's suit wasn't so fantastical, or even the "boots".

Bottom of sneakers will easily be more comfortable to walk with on the street than spandex

So, even though the can lift a car with one hand, climbs walls, and fights a giant lizard-man that's all balanced with the real world physics:whatever: of him wearing sneakers.

Because a character in fantasy would never do that.

So you started a thread asking if anyone hated the shoes. Then when some folks say they do, you're bothered by it?

So you you lack any drive to stand by your beliefs? Okay. And it's DAGENSPEAR. Don't write someone's name (especially mine) if you can't even spell it or understand how to use proper capitalization. On topic though:): I could'nt give two ****s about the damn stupid shoes. Why anyone would is beyond me.

Padding on the bottom of those will not be uncomfortable

Speaking as someone who occasionally enjoys the comfort of slippers, simply having some padding on the bottom of ones feet does nothing when outside of your home. A well placed piece of gravel or other small, sharp object will still hurt like hell.

The whole costume was pretty stupid. I mean there was no point in changing it. Supermans and Batmans I get, but Spider-Man is running around in red and blue full body spandex with a web pattern all over his body. It's not like one's more ridiculous than the other.

That's what I saw in ASM. Even if I disagree with a few of the smaller design choices of the suit, it's still remarkably faithful. Red mask, red torso, red gloves, red boots, spider of the chest and back, black lines/webs on the red...blue everywhere else...it hits all of the major points of the comics suit. EVERY iteration of the comics has some change/version of the suit, even if it's just down to the differences in how each artist draws the same suit. Some have a lot of webs, some have a few. Some draw soles on his boots, others draw it as a sock. Some how thick red strips down the arms, some have small ones. Some have big eyes, others have smaller eyes. Some have a big chest spider, some have a small spider...The ASM changes as a whole are miniscule.

Where does it say that the soles of Peter's feet were made thicker when he was bitten?

:funny:

So your body has the same durability as Spidey does too?

Peter is still human. He still feels pain just like the rest us, and would have a healthy desire to avoid pain as well.

Does his spider bite grant his "sock" boots powers to be impervious to wear and tear while climbing brick walls and jumping and fighting?

The shoes might make him jump higher or run faster like it does for some humans. I'm just spitballin' here. Also, like Spider-Who mentioned, he would probably have to repair the boot portion of his costume after every time fights with them on. Not necessarily the case with rubber shoes.

What the hell are you talking about? In that reply I posted, where in it do I talk about the shoes?

Since his body can withstand blows from other superhumans with nary a scratch, I think his widdle feet could withstand a little pain from a widdle pebble.

To the people who don't like the texture on the suit or the shoes, what do YOU think the suit should've looked like if it kept the whole realistic thing going on? (NOTE: The Raimi trilogy suit DOES NOT COUNT!!!)

The shoes are stupid and ugly...you can rationalize it all you want but it doesn't make them not stupid and not ugly. Had they shown him using the shoes to make his costume, then it would have served a purpose. They didn't. All it was, was an ugly costume design. The End.

You can say you like them and think they look great but I think that's because you either dislike Raimi's movies and wanted a drastically looking costume to differentiate the movies or you think Webb is a genius film maker that went hyper realistic. Why do I make this assertion? Because back when we first saw them, everyone thought they were stunt shoes. Nobody on here thought they looked great. You can go back and look.
