Animation Arcane (Netflix)

Just finished this. The first few episodes were a bit slow but then it started getting really good and I totally binged the last few. Enjoyed it a lot and look forward to more.

Who else is wishing that Warner contacts this studio to do a Batman animated movie for them?

Uh, no more Batman please. Supes, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, or the Flash would be great though.

So why Jinx suddenly turned into Harley Quinn when she grew up? Kid Jinx and adult Jinx feel like two different characters.

Death of her parents, parental figure, burying the knowledge she killed her friends, her sister abandoning her.... she cracked.

And, possibly feeling her previous persona was a major contribution to her being rejected, finding her cracked persona being accepted and encouraged by a morally questionable character pushed her even further...

I think it's clear I'm not a psychologist hehehe

Edit... Didn't mean to post here haha

The Harley Quinn type is the rebellious Jinx that doesn't want to see any potential reconciliation as being genuine while the innocent kid underneath is Powder. I saw them as different alter egos brought on by the torment she faced. She's Powder (and hopefully would go back to just that if there was a happy ending to all this) but has let Jinx take over to permanently remind her of when her sister rejected her (and called her a jinx).

I saw the first three episodes last night. Not overwhelmed by it, but coolly impressed. The animation and artwork were quite beautiful, clearly influenced by the video game "Dishonored", with its "steampunk" motif. A good story so far, with excellent pacing and a few unexpected twists. Looking forward to watching the final six episodes today.

Nice. I think it picked up a lot from episode 4 onwards.

I finished watching the first season tonight. Its one of those series where while I recognize and acknowledge that it is a very good show, at the same time it simply was not my cup of tea. Just overly dramatic for my taste, and the pace, which was quick and energetic to begin with, slowed down to a sluggish crawl by season's end. The character Jinx had so much potential IMO but it was annoying how she dithered all season long about whether she still had feelings for her sister and whether she was willing to forgive her or not. That should have been decided right at the close of Epsiode 3, where she feels Vi abandonned her and Silco rescued her. She should have been firmly against Vi from that point on.

Again, its one of those series (like Invincible) where I both recognize and acknowledge its greatness and still just don't care for it much at all, for the reasons mentioned.

Jinx struggling with how she feels about Vi and her struggling with her split personality and split loyalties until the end of the season was much more realistic than her just deciding immediately after she is reunited with Vi.

Looking forward to news of season 2.

Same. I'm really looking forward to see what they do with Warwick.

Well deserved! One of the most engaging animated shows I've seen in a long while. :D
