Are there any banned Members that you kind of miss? - Part 2

This is really more of an obituary thread these days, rather than an "I miss _____" thread. Sure we miss a majority of them, but there's always a few ne'er-do-wells that get banned, and really... who wants to mourn them? :o

There's a few banned posters I liked , but mainly check here for updates. Anytime I see the thread is bumped I wonder, "who was it this time?"

Sounds like something a troll would say.:o:oldrazz:

I must say however, from the little I know you I don't think you're a troll so I'd have to see the specific example.

I was hit for trolling in the TDK shooting thread. I posted something from way back that someone disagreed with. I got hit with trolling when I was only trying to make a point about letting children watch violent movies. I have been on this point for a while, so I was never sure why it was trolling. If I can find the thread I'll post it so you can judge for yourself.

LOL....When I troll the mods always call it flaming. The one thread I KNOW was a troll in has been deleted it and it was like 5 or so years ago so it's history now...but I always let people know when I am going to be a troll.

Digging up an old post to start a heated discussion long since passed is often seen as baiting which is a form of trolling.

One of the most common problems though as regards trolling are the posters that feel their view needs to be heard 60 times on a single subject, they quote every person with the opposite view in the thread to try and browbeat them into changing their mind, it ceases being a debate and becomes trolling. Alexei was a prime example of that with his obsession over Wolverine's hair.

One other thing to keep in my mind is someone can make a trolling post without being a full blown troll.

Or....you can not troll.

Again, what is trolling? Is that just your name for posters you don't like?

Please, Darth, don't start with me. I don't care about you. I have now learned the value of ignore. It works and is useful.

Okay, I guess I can see that.

Are we in a relationship? Are you breaking up with me?

All the smart people have. I haven't. Hi Darth!

Trolling is against the rules. Letting us know ahead of time doesn't make it permissible.

Girls, play nice... :o

Believe me.......if I wanted an infraction I am sure I could get one. I have done so in the past.

This is not an instance of that, but moreso my questioning of calling people trolls. Some people are not trolls. They just don't agree. That should be recognized, but people in the "Are there any banned members you kind of miss?" just call them trolls and that is not always accurate.

Again, I'm not trying to start a fight, but I'm not willing to be marked by some folks who feel it's their cause to mark me.

Wow, he seemed like a right pretentious *****ebag, glad he bit the dust.

Oh, you have no idea. Alexei at one point had the entire Avengers forum gridlocked with his arrogant and often nonsensical arguments. He couldn't just make a point once or twice and drop it, but felt compelled to post the same things incessantly. The man was relentlessly negative about Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, Robert Downey Jr. and the interconnected Marvel Cinematic Universe. Every interview with Feige set him off; every promotional image featuring Downey and Iron Man led to a rant about the actor and character ruining The Avengers; every rumor caused another Alexei jeremiad about how Marvel was creating mediocre movies with no critical or dramatic merit. He was the only poster who derailed entire threads for days and he seemed to revel in the discord he caused.

It wasn't just that Alexei disagreed with people, but that he was so very disagreeable about it. All of us have disagreements from time to time, and many (if not most) manage to remain civil about it. Alexei, however, often resorted to condescension and personal attacks. He claimed that anyone who disagreed with him simply had no idea what constituted good cinema and lacked the taste and discernment to understand the points he was trying to make. Even though he occasionally admitted that he had not read much of the comics source material, he acted as though he was an expert (i.e., insisting that the Inhumans were Loki's army, then switching to the Knights of Wundagore, even though neither group are aliens). And he acted as though his opinions were facts, while accusing others of the same mistake.

In short, Alexei was the kind of person the "ignore" list was created for. I'm surprised that he lasted as long as he did, after all the bad blood he intentionally caused.
