ARE YOU A VOYEUR? THE WORLD RIGHT OUTSIDE THE WINDOW

"These are just simple observations... natural side effects of chronic boredom."

When you're bored out of your mind and have nothing else to do, do you sometimes look out your window to see what other people are doing? This would most likely relate more to a close-knit environment where the buildings are closer together such as apartment complex and dorms. Do you watch ALOT of reality television? Etc.

Personally I am a voyeur, whenever I get bored I have a tendency to look out my window to see "what are these people doing? who are they?" Not in a creepy way, just interested in what other people are doing. I'm not a reality television watcher, but I do have the occasional tendency to look out the window and 'watch' people from a distance.

To get a closer recognition with voyeur aspects check out these film trailers:

So, just wondering does anyone else have voyeuristic tendencies? :ninja:

well voyeurism has a nasty association but we are all guilty of people watching im sure.

Don't mention Rear Window and Disturbia in the same breath, unless it's to say 'Disturbia is the ******ed rip-off flipper cousin of Rear Window.'

I like to watch, Eve.

...

A no-prize to whoever can tell me the film from which I just quoted. :o

/\ actually it's the same term there are just various degrees of vouyerism. There is common vouyerism and then there is it taken to the extreme.

Btw, couldn't find the Simpsons clip to add to the first post, but that's a great vid about it too.

I associate vouyerism with sex. The opposite of exhibitionsim and all that

That's the EXTREME of it- so in a sense you are correct. In psychology class one thing that I learned is there are various degrees of a psychiatric "problem," they all use the same terms and the thing that makes the difference is the degree of the problem. So, yeah that is voyeurism- but, that's the EXTREME of it. However, it is all labeled the same.

Some one who talks to themselves has a psychiatric problem when taken to extreme, but those who don't take it to the extreme are still labeled in the exact same way; but the first is the extreme and is therefore a pyschiatric problem that needs to be analyzed. Best example I could think of.

Guess so, I talk to myself a lot.

a LOT, LOT!

Lol. Everyone does- I think? That's why there are "levels," being at the extreme end is the time to worry... being at the casual end, means your just like everyone else.

"Everyone is a little crazy, not everyone is a psychopath." That is what it all really comes down to.

It's not voyeurism if you know they're there... and you charge them.

When I'm in a fairly crowded, outside area, I like looking around seeing what's going on around me. I wouldn't go as far as calling it voyeurism, though.

Sex, Lies, & Videotape?

I do a lot of watching. I ride the bus, so just sitting on the bus can be hella entertaining. I usually watch people while waiting on the bus as well. I find that watching people can be a lot like watching nature in africa. It is dang fascinating.

People-watching can be a fun way to pass the time. Sometimes. But there's a limit. I don't care to watch what people do in the privacy of their own homes.

And those people seem to act like the wild animals of Africa, too.
I people watch too often. I can sit beside my window and stare, watch people on the bus and gaze whilst I'm sitting eating inside.

I just like to watch people and how they act. Sometimes, it ain't clever. They always seem to look back at me, and I get weird looks back.

Funny thing is, two women were half naked in the centre of my town a few months back. There's two men in a cow costume, and two naked women with only billboards to hide their naughties...what do I look at?

The men in the cow suit.

When I have to resort to watching someone else's life instead of living my own, I know I have problems.
