I just want to explain why I've been so disappointed with this season. I can easily forgive a movie or a show for its plotholes, even if they are kinda big, as long as I'm moved by the journey. If I feel engaged in the storyline, and it provokes some emotion in me, plotholes won't be that important. Which is why I really love the dark knight rises, even though there are a lot of plotholes/flaws.
Sadly, I wasn't moved by Oliver's journey here, especially since his journey basically is about be romantically engaged with Felicity. This storyline wasn't satisfying nor convincing to me, and that's not the kind of story I4m interested by when I watch a show about a superhero. I like a good romande, but I don't want it to be the ultimate goal of the story. For instance, I think Daredevil did a great job at showing an interesting and convincing romance, but it didn't take anything from the actual hero journey.
In this season, Oliver was like "I can't have you because the city needs me". Then he was like "I have to make questionable choices, even though they make no sense, because drama". Then he was like "it's okay to leave starling with people who barely managed to survive without me, as long as I can leave with Felicity". Of course, I'm exaggerating, but it's not that far from what I felt about this season.
I didn't like this journey, I wasn't moved by it, which explains why I wasn't that forgiving about the plotholes and flaws.
That said, I like the actors and the characters. I will be back for season 4, and I really hope it will be more consistent.
