Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie Sheen in Two and a Half Men

can people stop trying to compare Ashton to Charlie? they're not even suppose to be the same type of characters on the show... and it would be stupid for them to even attempt that.

It's hilarious that people call Ashton one-dimensional, considering his predecessor. :o

Aston Kutcher still sucks. The show just uses him as a straight man because he is so freaking wooden as a actor. Kutcher makes that other block of wood Brandon Routh look like a Oscar caliber actor by comparison.

i dont know... ashton was pretty non-wooden in both valentines day, and no strings attached... and seriously? haha... there's a big reason why ashton actually HAS a career and routh does not.

Ashton was great in the second episode. I'm really looking forward to his interactions with Jake.

Why not compare them? One was funny and one currently isn't and since this is a comedy show it makes sense to compare their relative comedic skills.

because people arn't just simply comparing them to that... there comparing him to a comlpetely different character. Some wanna compare him to charlie, like he's Daren Stevens vs Daren Stevens. He's not suppose to be Charlie 2.0.

if you want to compare him for humor, then do so. But i also think 2 episodes in (and for who his character is suppose to be) it's a bit ridiculous to judge so harshly. Also.. I really like seeing Ashton in this straight man routine, it's something completely different for him, and i actually thought he was funnier in the 2nd episode.

I said I'd give him another episode to win me over.

And I am just comparing how funny I find the two characters, I know that Walden isn't Charlie 2.0 and I´m glad that he isn't. It doesn't change the fact that the show isn't as funny this season as it was last season imo.

because 2 episodes represent the entire season?

that being said....

I do wish the made Walden Charile's son... I would have had hm at the funeral and had his mother be one of Charlies first conquests at like, the age of like 13.... I think having an arch of him trying to get ot know his father (while sharing some characteristics) and inheriting the house would have led to more humor.

The thing is, if Sheen had left amicably I'm sure Chuck Lorre would've done something like that. But with that public drama with Sheen's drug problems... Lorre wanted to have a clean break from Charlie Harper completely.

CHUCK LORRE PRODUCTIONS, #351

Sometime last year I realized I had become the unwilling contestant in a reality show. I didn’t understand the rules, wasn’t sure if there even were any, and pretty much hated every second of it. For many months I kept hoping and praying that it would end. But it did not. Somewhere along the way, something inside me died. Anyway, now, suddenly, I’m being told that the reality show’s been cancelled. Apparently, it was just one of those things that somehow got out of control. Sorry. Whoops. Live and learn. Moving on. Game over. And that’s fine. I am so good with that. Yes, please, let’s all move on. There’s just one problem. That thing inside me that died? It walks at night. It’s angry. It’s hungry. And worst of all…it’s writing a tell-all book.
:hehe: What a *****ebag...

To me the show doesn't make any sense without Charlie.
And anyways the last 2 seasons weren't that good, the characters had reached they full potential and became they own caricature.

Oh, and come on, casting the same girl who played Herb's sister as Ashton wife is such a lazy move, like we would be fooled by a simple hair coloration...:whatever:

What this show needs is more Herb! I loved Ryan Stiles on Drew Carrey and loved his appearances on this show.

He was great on Drew Carrey because of his interactions with Deidrich Bader.

Well, watched the show again tonight and I'm really not sure. I'll stick with it for now, but I'm not loving it. I'm just not buying that Walden is that socially awkward and Alan is the one to show him the ropes.

On the plus side, I'm glad they've started to mix Jake in and I love that Herb made an appearance. Bring on the Herb!

Yep, I don't buy it either, the genius acting like a total ****** it's not fun,
He might not have matured 'cause he made a Gazillion very soon in life but still, there are limits.

As for Jake, now that he is grown up, I wish they took the character in a new direction, the farts and food jokes are getting old and aren't cute anymore.

Amazing how they're deliberately dragging their feet (now 3 episodes into this season) till they ret-con the status-quo with the characters.

Yeah, I had higher hopes for this episode. I new the premiere(s) would involve setting the new stage, so my expectations were kind of low to start.

Things need to pick up soon or it might be time for me to move on.

i watched yesterdays episode and it reminded me why i dislike kutcher so much. he cant act, he cant do anything...this show should be over as soon as possible..

Id liike to point out that this role for ashton really is unlike any other he's played before... maybe the closest was his character in the butterfly effect....

doesnt change the fact that he cant act. butterfly effect...probably a lucky work day..

Didn't think the episode was that bad. Making Alan the go-to guy for all things women is pretty funny IMO.

ehhhh....yeah, after last nite's episode i really don't see this show lasting another season.

Walden is a pretty pathetic character and they've really dumbed Alan down a lot. i'm not liking where the show is going. there's still a slight chance it might get better, but i highly doubt it.
