Assasins Creed

hmm, it seems to me a lot of the people being apologetic for this game are using the same excuses I heard for Shadow of the Colossus, "It doesn't matter if you just do the same thing over and over! Its a beautiful epic!" blah blah blah. :cwink:

I haven't played it yet...but I must admit, I am quite discouraged by this negative feed back :csad:
do yourself a favor and rent it first. It wasnt worth a purchase for me and you may want to test it out a bit first before buying

It's worth at least a rent for how gorgeous the game is and how awesome free running through the ancient cities is.

But like I said, I'm the kind of gamer who can just mess around in a game, like GTA I love just popping them in and messing around, so I still like to pop in AC and explore, get into fights, and just marvel at how far gaming has come since Mario Bros.

If you're a gamer who can handle repetitive missions, which a lot of games have, then you'll be able to finish AC and enjoy it the whole way through. If your a gamer who can't stand repetitive missions, which a lot of games have, then you should at least play it to see how great the physics are.

Assassin's Creed has MUCH more gameplay per square foot than SOTC did. SOTC was just boss fights, Assassin's Creed has flags, side-missions, more lively locations, etc...

But but but....IT'S REPETITIVE!!!

Yes very much so. And boring. That kills the game. I think the only thing that everyone can agree on that they got right was the free running. But the problem is even that gets old after a while. Look I'm not bashing the game just to bash it, but this is not the GOTY type quality game people are making it out to be. Far from it. Every gamer should RENT this game just to try out the free running. By the time you return the game you will have known why it was wise to just rent it. In short term it's fun, just for the free running. But everything else, forget about it. The rest of the game isn't up to par. This game was a victim of it's own hype.

No, its just that the people who really like it, know genius when they see it. Some ppl just cant see the beauty within the game. Its why some gaming publications hail it, others bash it, those who bash it just dont truly understand whats in front of them. The combat is just brilliant. There has been no sword combat this good in a game in a looong time, if ever. I can agree on the repetition, but everything else is so spotless that it just gets overshadowed. There is an incredible story thats MUCH deeper than whats presented in the game. This is the start of an amazing franchise!

So everyone who has a differing opinion on it is just flat out wrong? The combat is part of the repetition. It gets old soon after you unlock the counter ability. Push a button to counter, watch an animation that kills the opponent. That is seriously all you need. Hold down the defense button, push the button to counter and watch an animation, repeat ad nauseam one guard at a time. That is all the combat is. There is no need to actually attack, it takes longer.

I think Gametrailers review of the game pretty much nails it, even though I don't agree with their final score. They don't hold back about the flaws on the game and even go as far as calling them "game breakers". The only thing that saved the game was the free running. Some publications and websites were able to overlook the flaws because of the free running, others weren't.

I had to start all over cause my game glitched.

I started seeing a ghost image of myself repeating all my movements. I killed it and then I died.

Also if I just left the ghost alone and played I would just fall through thr ground and die.

:(

Wow, that's a really bad glitch.

you hit the nail on hte head. Some people here feel that there can only be one opinion on this game and if you dont conform to them, then you are automatically wrong. You have to claim this title as a perfect game with no flaws and theres no room for discussion bc thats how everyone should feel, at least that seems to be the vibe over here

I question the credibility of the reviewers in those publications who gave the game 10/10s and 5/5s. Huh? Those scores should be reserved for teh very best of the best and a game that has very little to no flaws at all. AC has them and obvious ones at that. That alone should have taken it out of the running from getting any perfects

Oh and IA with you on the combat. Too simplistic. At least the free roaming across buildings was fun for a while

Wow, that's a really bad glitch.

I just ran thru a building, fell down into the infinite abyss of the game, and got an achievement. Supposedly I had remained undefeated for 100 battles in a row, despite the fact I was not in battle or been in one for awhile...

Anything gets repetitive "after a while". What type of argument is that, really?

When it is rampant in just about EVERY aspect of the game it can't be ignored, along with poor AI. It makes this thing called fun factor become non existent after the first few hours. If it weren't for the free running this game would be a total waste. But because of the free running I have to say everyone should try it just to play around with that. But again, the fun fades with that as well, because there is really nothing else in the game to look forward to. You won't find yourself saying "Man I can't wait to go to the next city and do the same exact side missions and same exact investigation processes with characters that look and sound and in some cases have exactly the same lines as in past investigations."

I wasn't even doing the entire investigation process after the first few times because it was so goddamn boring. Graphics wise the game is great. Gameplay, forget about it. Not anywhere near the same level of quality.

every one of the assasinations follow the SAME format. The side mission types are teh same and there are plenty of them and its all pretty much teh same task. AC is alot more repetitve than your average game. Its not like theres much to switch things up

By those standards, Halo 3 is repetitive.

I don't think anyone is really going to argue that other than WHF, who in fact would argue that AC is a masterpiece as well. Halo 3 is just the same recycled bull**** with a new feature added in the Forge.

I really liked Assassin's Creed. Granted, I would play like 30 minutes of it at a time over the span of a month (I have like a life you know?). So maybe that's why I didn't get the whole repetitive vibe.

i killed 4-5 assassination targets already... i can't remember...what was it again? 9?... i am already bored of the game.... hehe

in my opinion i think assassins creed gets very repetitive.... and I've only had it for a week now, :woot:

I haven't been bored of Halo 3 yet, and i have had that since it came out. 2 player has been the best, and has been the most fun i have had playing xbox 360. Me and my cousin had a great time playing it, especially on legendary.

AC was great at the beginning, but then gets old. If they make a second one i wish they'll add in more places to hide, like in bushes, or behind unlocked house doors...and the ability to climb trees.. also being able to swim :oldrazz:

*looks at post count* Right, a life....:whatever:

i wish i would have went through this thread first before i plopped down 40 buckaroo's

Consider yourself lucky. Some people bought it for 60, some even more if they bought into that limited edition bull**** these games always pull. 10 dollars more for a bonus disc I'll watch maybe once in my life and a mini strategy guide to help me through this incredibly boring and simplistic game play? Sign me up!

The reviews of this game were really misleading, especially some of the final scores a few publications and web sites gave it. Like Havok said before, scores of 9 or 10 should be reserved for games that are near perfect, and even the biggest AC fan here can admit the game is far from perfect.

Plenty of people really liked it, me included.
