Assassin´s Creed III

I gotta say I'm pretty jazzed about the direction this game is going. There really hasn't been a major game that has explored this particular setting and I love the fact that you're playing as a Native American (also going against the grain). The only hesitation I have with it is the possible lack of sprawling cities to climb and jump around in, but I think that can still be accomplished with the big settlements like Boston and New York, as well as the trees and mountains that would be in the wilderness. I can't wait to put that tomahawk to use. Scalping... lots of scalping.

Agreed.

I think we'll get the Ninja Assassin eventually. Assassin's Creed, I believe, has ALOT of steam in it...mostly because of the endless possibilities.

I can EASILY see them do some spin-off, outside of Desmond's bloodline to get us into very different places.

The Egypt setting, was one concept that still sounds interesting to me if done right.

THIS! This is why I think the AC franchise can last a VERY long time. It can keep going for years & not fresh because of all the different locales, times & civilizations they can have.

I would fancy an Assassin's Creed installment set during the First Civilization, such as someone using the Animus, but for a twist, I wouldn't mind seeing a Templar going back and that makes him switch sides. To have a new character in the form of an ex-Templar would be nice, imo, and stray from the already assassins in the form of Desmond Miles.

So apparently we're getting a trailer on Monday. I hope its more than a simple teaser and more like the one we got for Revelation, which was awesome.

I could not be more excited for this game. It's already shot to the top of my most anticipated list for games this year and I haven't even seen any gameplay footage.

More Woodkid please!
:awesome:

I agree, I'm excited although I was going to get this regardless. I don't know too many games that are coming out this year, but this is one of the few that I'm definitely getting.

Yeah, one of the main reasons I loved AC 2 so much was because I'd always had a vague knowledge of the Italian Renaissance but didn't really know that much so I loved getting immersed in it all, reading all the location data, people, etc

It's pretty much exactly the same with AC 3, since I'm not American and only know the general facts about the Revolution, I'm really keen to get immersed in the political climate, the history, the people etc.

Who do you guys think the Templars are going to be? Many game sites are claiming that is George Washington on the box cover... Do we think he is a Templar? I know he's like, some great president and all that, but it would definitely fit the Templar profile :P

I'm calling Washington as an ex- Templar. I don't think they'll make him a bad guy.

Why not? Templars have always been in seats of power. Either Washington will be the Templar or the people in Government alongside him are Templars and the Assassins need to warn Washington.

/shrug I don't have any reason to go either way really. They looked chummy in one of the art pieces tho.

Well Washington was a Freemason, so it depends how they tie that order into the AC universe, either as a branch of the Knights Templar or of the Order of Assassins.

I'm not that big on US history, except for the time around WWII, but IGN has an interesting analysis about the first couple of images and what it could mean.

The guy on the cover that the Assassin is killing is wearing a Red coat, meaning he is a part of the British Army, so I'd imagine that those are the bad guys in this one. Also, going back to the IGN video, based on that, I think Washington will be more of an ally similar to Da Vinci who gives the Assassin some inside info about the US military's plan. I can also see someone like Ben Franklin play a similar role as Da Vinci in ACII where he helps with new weapons.

i find north america to be the most boring place they could have taken this series. i'll still get it and probably enjoy it. maybe you have to be american to really love this?

The thing about this is that Washington helped fight for freedom, so to make him a bad guy would not really fit his character, especially if the British are the main enemies.

Not to mention, vilifying one of the Founding Fathers would definitely be a controversial move. Although if the Assassin is of Native American descent, historically speaking, he would have more reason to oppose the Americans than the British since there is the threat of taking their land away. But I still feel, especially based on the coat of the Assassin that he'll side with the Americans and they fight for freedom against Britain.

Well I'm not American and I love the idea of it. In fact that's probably why I love it more, it's still exploring history for a significant country.

I think the Red Coats will be enemies, sure, but I don't think it will be as cut and dry as 'Americans = Good and British = Bad'. I could see there being Templars in US Government too, orchestrating things in co-ordination with the British, sort of like how Cesare Borgia involved the French in Brotherhood and how in AC 1 there were Templars on more than one side of the Crusades conflict.

I'm not Italian, and yet I love Assassin's Creed II...

That's really the dumbest thing I've read in a while.

@Soapy,

Exactly. If anything, a different countries history should be MORE interesting...

Also, I think since Ubisoft is largely a European based developer with a multi-culturtural development team, it's not like we're going to get a MW 3 style 'America, **** yeah!' version of AC.

except italian renaissance was something new. american revolution gets so much media exposure

Well yeah I don't think it will be as simple as black and white. They might have someone in the American army that is plotting against them, such as Benedict Arnold. I almost feel like the new Assassin might be a One-Man army kind of thing, where he is actually against both sides, but eventually sides with the US because the British have more Templar involvement. And with that, I'm curious to see what happens with the Brotherhood. I believe the Assassins have decreased in number throughout history and I wonder what happened to all that Ezio did in forming the Brotherhood around the world. There's about 200 years in between the periods to deal with.

I'd love to see this Assassin have something to do with establishing the Assassins order for the modern age, perhaps he is the one who decides the spread out farms and camps is the safest way to position the order.

Yeah, I really don't think the Revolution has been overexposed, especially as a Non-America. Civil War? Sure. WW 2? Definitely. But the American Revolution? No way. Past the iconic imagery and picturing Yankee Doodle playing, I really don't think it has, which was the same as the Renaissance setting, when you just thought of Da Vinci and a harpsichord.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. You almost never hear anything about the Revolution here, and you'd figure that that would be the most important time in our history.

I'm confused because I don't even think I've ever seen a video game focused on that period at all, which is why this game is even more exciting, because its doing something new and different. Not to mention most games that focus on US History have been FPS that focus only on war and battles. But here, I'm sure the war is going to be more of a backdrop to the bigger picture.
