No the rendering has nothing to do with the resolution of your tv. This game is rendered at 900p by Ubisoft. A TV's on-screen info however tends to say that the image is in 1080p or 720p even if it's actually 900p.

On another note:

Game updates seem to let developers fix problems. However, it also seems to let them be lazy and release very flawed games at launch.

I don't think people are keeping this straight. Is the game not 1080p? I thought the problem was that it was 30fps instead of 60fps.

If it's on a 1080p TV, is it not rendered in 1080p?
The X1 and PS4 can not output at 900p. They can only output an HD image at 720p, 1080 i/p. Anything that falls in between is upscaled

Tho upscaling a 900p image to 1080p isn't the same as something being rendered in true 1080p. But a difference of 100 pixels is negligible to most human eyes.

Actually its closer to 200 but the point remains

Its not unplayable its just unacceptable. The frame rate issue is my biggest beef. At 900p this game should not be struggling like this on the PS4, cause if this game is struggling it says a lot about what we can expect from Ubi on PS4 and it may be saying a lot abouy the long term viability (or lack thereof) of the PS4. Something somewhwere is very wrong with this whole picture. I hope to God its all Ubi and not the PS4's fault.

Uncharted 4 will be the real test of what the PS4 is capable of, IMO.

AC3 is the only AC game that put me to sleep. Literally. Ive dozed off and dropped my controller while playing that game. The first half of that game is the cure to insomnia. I cant speak for the quality of its second half cause Ive never made it that far into the game.

Agreed one hundred percent. I didn't even get to the adult stage of the main character in that game. The child/father segments was such a bore that I shelfed the game even till now. I just coulden't get into it, but I loved AC1 and i beat the **** out of that game. I never played an another AC game so It was risky for me to pick this up Day One back on Tuesday.

I got a little further last night, and i have to say the game is indeed playable, but extremely disappointing in the sense that it's nowhere near the game Ubisoft marketed. The free running is fun, and so is the combat. But the mission structures are thinner then hair on Donald Trumps head, and the sneaking is pretty horrible compared to other games.

I say Ubisoft will be taking a break next year with AC games, and will release a port of Rouge to X1 and PS4 to keep the fans occupied next year, then release AC5 in 2016.

I'm still going to finish this game by the end of the week, but damn Ubisoft....

What kind of weather effects are there in the game? Is there rain? How does it look?

That's one thing I really liked about AC3 - the seasonal weather effects, a bit of everything.

I keep getting let down by next gen stuff so far, I started playing this yesterday, rented from gamefly, several times it has me thinking my xbone controller is broken, it's like press B ok Drop please...press B ok Drop please...PRESS B....DROP DAMNIT! I'm like 4 feet off the ground hanging, insane.

The game not responding to button presses has happened to me several times as well. I've also encountered several instances where (I guess) Ubisoft has hindered free-running/climbing - where in past games you could easily scale certain parts of a building/steeple/ledge, but in this game you cannot even if there is no discernible reason not to. It's left me getting frustrated, thinking its the button presses not being recognized or a bug with that particular part of the building, but I've since realized that its been done purposefully to force you to ascend a very certain way.

Ugh Ubi wtf.

It depends on how the game ends but this is shaping up to be my favorite in the franchise next to Black Flag. God the setting is gorgeous. I'm liking Arno so far, not quite as much as Edward but still I'm diggin the dude. Love the new combat too as well as the tweaked free running. Love being able to free run off a building now. I do miss the sea exploration, but I can't complain too much as France is just awesome. It's an incredible feeling to be perched on a roof just looking and hundreds of people violently protesting. Incredible scene.

That's one of the things that frustrates me about this game: there is a lot of GOOD stuff - I'm loving the various side missions, and (so far) the main missions are fairly varied without being too long.

I'm also really impressed by the amount of buildings you can go into and explore. The amount of NPCs (while likely a huge cause of the frame rate problems) helps sell the life of the city, as does the little events that the NPCs go through. There's almost always some interesting event you can just sit back and watch (and at times intervene in). At one point, I came across a large courtyard packed FULL of NPCs who are yelling and cheering as a line of prisoners are lead to the gallows. I sat in the crowd and watched a few beheadings, and then pulled out my gun and shot it into the air. Seeing half the crowd of people run off screaming and others look around as if confused was pretty damn satisfying, lol.

I know most of my posts have been *****ing about the game's faults (of which there are MANY), but none of the faults can't be fixed. But the problem is that these faults have a high impact on the game and it's easy to forget that a lot of love and work DID go into making this game.

A little positivity, eh?

:p

Seriously tho, the fact that its enjoyable in spite of the bugs and glitches is a very good sign.

I'm in the same boat. Seriously. It has some flaws but once fixed in a patch this will be second only to Black Flag.

You should have it.. It's a good game that's just a bit buggy right now. I love Halo.. I can't play the MP at all right now.. I don't instantly hate Halo. Bugs happen.. Ubisoft should learn from this tho and make AC an "every other year" title.. At least the main ones. Spin offs and side stories can be filler.

Seriously once a patch hits this stuff will be gone.

Ubisoft now working to fix Assassin's Creed: Unity issues

Following a rough launch earlier this week, Ubisoft wants to assure fans of Assassin's Creed: Unity that the development team is working to patch the game's many glaring technical issues.

Just how glaring are these issues? According to the analysts at Digital Foundry, though it appears exclusively on new hardware, Assassin's Creed: Unity performs worse than its prior-generation predecessor Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, while featuring more graphical glitches (see the faceless abomination above) and relatively frequent crashes. Despite the controversial decision to display the game at 900p resolution, Digital Foundry finds that Unity struggles to maintain a steady 30 fps framerate, and that crowd scenes often plunge the game as low as 20 fps. Though Digital Foundry plans to investigate Unity's shortcomings in more detail over the next week, the analysts diplomatically state that "there's certainly the sense that both console versions of the game aren't running at their best."

As for Ubisoft's plans to fix these problems, the publisher claims it is currently working on an update to fix a number of specific glitches discovered by players, including protagonist Arno Dorian falling through the game world and getting stuck inside hay bales, and the game crashing without warning. Ubisoft is also investigating the performance issues outlined by Digital Foundry, though it has yet to offer word on any fixes that might be in the works.
