Assassin's Creed IV

You knuckleheads realize this game features Pirates right? Pirates. Wake the f**k up.
I could care less for pirates. Pirates brings about sailing and I hated sailing in AC III. This game will have about 40% of that. That right there is a reason for me to stay away

Yeah, the whole Pirate aspect of the game doesn't really do much to get me more excited, and the sailing stuff, as cool as it was in ACIII, is not what I look forward to in an AC game. I want to be an Assassin doing assassin things, not a pirate doing pirate things.

Anyone gettin this for ps3 or 360? Or is everybody here going next gen

Next gen is still at least a month or two away, right? My pre-order for ACIV comes in next week for the 360.

The DLC needs to feature an expansion pack that sends Edward to 18th century Japan to fight ninjas.

Pirates vs. Ninjas: AC Edition

I'm holding off on getting a PS4 until next year, so I'll be getting this for PS3. But I am interested in seeing just how different the two versions wil be.

Yeah same. Dont care if the graphics are better in the next gen edition. I just hope the 360 and ps3 versions dont get too jipped on the gameplay front.

A little less than a month for the PS4, and just about a month away for the X1.

Now Ninjas are something that I've been hoping for for a while now, especially after watching AC: Embers.

As a guy getting the wii u version this doesnt bother me in the slightest. Assassin's Creed dlc have always been meh at best

Oh I actually may have been wrong about that, though. The Wii U version won't get the season pass, but apparently ACIII didn't either but still got all the DLC, I think?

See, where I'm coming from is that I couldn't care less about Assassin's Creed at this point. I think it's played out. I have little to no desire to do more "assassin things" because Ubisoft ran that stuff into the ground. You know what I DO want to do? Be a ****ing pirate. And Assassin's Creed IV is the first real modern pirate game, which is something I've always wanted to play. I would very much prefer it if Black Flag was completely divorced from Assassin's Creed, and instead an original, new pirate-themed IP from Ubisoft, but I'm willing to accept whatever "assassin things" they shoehorn into it in order to play a game I've wanted forever.

Sailing was the ONLY good part of ACIII.

Which I guess doesn't say much for the game

graphics aren't the only thing that can improve. With an open world game, stuff like framerate, load times and several other technical issues all could stand the chance of benefitting from more powerful hardware

I've played this game and it delievers in equal measures as a pirate game and Assassins game. In many ways, it perfectly ticks all the boxes that people have be complaining about. No major compulsory modern day component? Tick. More mission variety? Tick. Refined stealth engine? Tick. More interesting and contextually relevant side missions? Tick.

It feels a lot more like Assassins Creed 2 than it does 3. My only complaint is sometimes the combat feels too busy. Slashing a dude like, 6 times with dual swords feels lame when 1 or 2 slashes should be a kill. Minor nitpick though. Going from sea to land to sea again feels so good.

I'll get it for 360 & XB1.

Yeah, I plan to play some sections on the 2 consoles at the same time on 2 TVs next to each other so that I can really see what the difference is. I'm a big AV fan in case that seems excessively weird. :woot:

Everyone would buy that, even those who pretend they won't. :yay:

What is AC: Embers?

Same here. I loved the games but I was reasonably confident that this new AC title would be lower down my priority list as the novelty was starting to wear off. Changing the setting completely like this and doubling up as a great looking pirate game on the open seas (which hasn't been done in a AAA game that I've played before) has got me really excited again. Way more than a traditional AC game could at this point. Although I prefer Ubisoft keeping the AC element in this open sea pirate world than making it a new IP as it combines the awesome of both into an even more awesome pospect. I wanted the AC story to continue through other descendants even if was getting tired of it the way it was and this is a great way to do that and also have a big time lead character for this new pirate game.

Yeah I've always wanted a game like this, AC or no, although the inclusion of the AC background just makes it all the better. And glad to hear about all those ticks, all complaints that I've had in the past with the series. I played it for maybe 15 minutes at the end of last month and really enjoyed both the sea and land sections and as soon as I was in one of the 2, I was itching to get back to the other.

What is AC: Embers?
Its an animated short set after the events of Revelations, highlighting Ezio's time with a young female Chinese Assassin, as well as his final moments.

Thanks, will save these to watch later.

Just saw "the ultimate trailer" for this game on IGN.

Dear god, this game is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Pure sex. It's the only thing that's going to tear me away from GTA V for awhile.

You might want to temper expectations if you were hoping for major differences in next-gen versions of AC IV.

What’s New in the Assassin’s Creed IV Multiplayer?

Scott sneaks into Ubisoft Montreal to find out what new features are coming to the multiplayer in Assassin's Creed IV, including the ability to create your own maps and modes.

It Did indeed pick up the DLC for ACIII. This time around both the Xbox one And Wii U are locked out for DLC well at least with the Avaline stuff( the other stuff DLC wise have yet to be detailed) and it's a timed Exclusive.

As for being at sea versus land issue with others on this thread they have said with this you can spend more time on land then you ever can at sea "if you choose to" this was said in the aftermath of E3 with Q&A session. And is on YouTube for people to see. But the main director made it clear if you want to spend your time at land more it's doable. But some people are stubborn to receive that message.

I'm about 6 hours away from having this game within my hands :) So pumped.

Saw a few intros online. I really love that you start with an action scene. AC 3's beginning was unbearable. Soo boring.

You know, I think I realize why my level of hype for this is not as high as it should be, and I think it can also apply to the next Mass Effect sequel, whenever that is revealed. But basically, it's because the biggest thing that drove the game for me was not the narrative around Altair, Ezio or Connor, but more about Desmond and his role in all of this. So to see that Desmond's story is over, it's hard to get back into this knowing that this is also sort of a new beginning. It's just weird, especially since its so soon.

Holy ****, I honestly thought I was the only one here haha. I was always really fascinated by the future/present story. If anything, I sort of found the ancestor's stuff rather boring (storywise). The story of ACIV has little appeal to me, it's the gameplay that will get me to pick it up whenever I do.
