Assassin's Creed - Part 2

The best video game movie of the year is Angry Birds with a rotten tomato score of 43%.

Persona 3: Winter of Rebirth was good.

Pitch Black-7.5/10 (good monster movie)
Chronicles of Riddick-6/10 (so-so Space Opera)
Riddick-4/10 (bad rehash of Pitch Black)

Expecting a good video game movie is like my expecting to get welcomed at a KKK rally.

It's hard to count the Persona movies. They are anime films and not produced for wide audiences.

I think I will enjoy AC... simply because going into it I know it is supposed to suck all sorts of farm animal ass.

Had a feeling this would suck, but I was still rooting for it (I loved Macbeth). The review embargo pretty much solidified my fears.

Bummer. I'm unsure if I'll see this in theaters now. On the one hand, I'm sick of paying $15+ to see a film I'll hate, but on the other hand I've been looking forward to it since it was announced and I like seeing big budget movies on as big a screen as possible. I've also been listening to the score recently and really digging the Johann Johannsson vibe.

Decisions, decisions...

Two biggest hopes for video games movies sucked miserably this year.

Hopefully The Force Awakens has one.
The Force Awakens had good reviews and good word of mouth. It doesn't need another cut.

BvS had bad reviews and bad word of mouth. There is no good cut of that trash movie.

Yup.

This is so disappointing. I used to rail against Nintendo for refusing to allow properties like Metroid and Zelda to be adapted to film, because I thought they had gotten scared off by the Super Mario Brothers fiasco. But I think they really just took a look at all the other video game adaptations out there, and were rightfully like, "F**k that." Maybe this is one genre Hollywood should just give up on. Warcraft and AC were probably our best hopes at ever seeing a good video game adaptation, and both were atrocious (I mean, I haven't seen AC yet, but it's getting ripped to shreds). Now our hopes lie in... Sonic the Hedgehog (yeah, okay...), Tomb Raider (maybe the third time's the charm!) and... the Tetris Trilogy (what?).

Uncharted just hired Shawn Levy (Stranger Things) to direct, with filming set for late spring/early summer. I guess we'll see what comes of that.

I think Levy is a terrible choice so good luck with that one. I don't think Tomb Raider will be good either but at least the director choice is more interesting and the lead actress is good.

That avatar of yours fits this post.

I had no hopes in either one.
The first one I didn't even care about.

Blade Runner is a good movie, and there are 5-7 different cuts of that movie.
But it didn't make $2 billions and earned praise from majority of critics and other movie patrons.

I don't think Blade Runner is a good movie. It's pretty and has a good score though. Certainly I at least respect Blade Runner as a film though, a great deal more than that trash heap that was released in March.

I was not a fan of the pick. Never liked his movies, and I'm one of the few it seems that thought Stranger Things had significant problems.

But it is what it is. I'll wait for the reviews (if it finally gets made) before getting excited.

I disagree with this, but I've only seen the Final Cut so I've never had to disregard subpar versions.

Amazing how both those video games have awesome cut scene acting and immersive stories and both Warcraft and from what I've read AC, are pretty dull and lifeless.

Blade Runner is an issue of final cut. If Ridley had it the first time around, there would only be one movie.

I've watched the final cut of Blade Runner. The theatrical cut is problematic because Ford's, "I obviously don't want to do this" voice over is atrocious.

I'm now debating weather I even want to watch this movie anymore. Such a shame.

I feel for the people who were looking forward to A.Creed. Personally I never was though. I never liked the corny trailers.

if hollywood cant even do hitman or max payne correctly they will royally mess up Zelda

I wasn't expecting it to get stunning reviews, but I thought they'd be better than this.

It probably is, everyone recommending that movie suggests the final cut.

Glad I did not watch that version.

You ignored critics with other movies you enjoyed.
If you're afraid of paying for it, HBO wait it.
