I never got AC4 because I was pissed with how AC3 ended. I'm one of the ones that actually liked Desmond's story and the modern gameplay. So to see it all build up for it to end the way it did, annoyed the hell out of me. But Unity I would have gotten if I had an Xbox One. And Rogue for the 360 isn't my cup of tea. I just don't see the appeal really. But I'll probably watch some walkthroughs of both. Unity looks epic and I love the new movement mechanics. Soon he'll be friggin Spider-Man.

I think the appeal for Rogue is the bridge it'll create between AC IV and Unity. Thats the key reason im interested in it. I wanted a little more info on the Kenway side of things.

It just seems bizarre to suddenly now hunt Assassin's after all these years playing as them. I'll still watch a walkthrough and see what it's like. Don't get me wrong, if I like it I'll buy it. Just sucks that I can't get Unity. I'm totally loving the trailers so far, awesome graphics and advanced engine.

Well I saw this coming. I knew we'd get a game like this sooner or later. The war between the two sides isn't nearly as cut and dry as it was during say the first game. Ubi has really expanded this narrative of Templars v Assassins.

Yea unity I'm really looking forward to. I hope Ubi brings rogue to the new consoles tho, iv moved on from the 360/ps3 for the most part.

I get that sooner or later it would happen. Seeing the story from a different angle. I am interested to see how it plans out, but I won't be pre ordering or anything.

And I'd love to get an Xbox One but I love my older games so, that's the big issue for me.

really looking forward to this. My only concern is the new combat system, i hope it's not too difficult/frustrating to get the hang of.

Rogue will come to next gen.. I don't think any last gen game at this point won't. Same with Borderlands the PS.

I think the combat will be okay to pick up. Most of the games have had the exact same combat style and controls. I don't see them completely changing it to the point where it's like walking on ice. That's one of the things I loved about the games. Being able to just jump right in and play, back to familiar ground with each new instalment.

The main thing is, there's no more insta-counter. It's now a parry, which just leaves the enemy open to attack. You also have to dodge a lot more often and it seems if you're outnumbered, things can get very chaotic.

They way they've described it, if you WANT to be a brawler, you can. You're just going to have to level up your weapons and skills that cater to fighting. But they also want running away from fights to be a valid strategy.

Wait what? No more of the stylish quick kills? For which game, Rogue or Unity? Cuz that seriously blows

I think he means they're overhauling Unity's combat system so you can do graceful kills and such, but you need to practice and learn how to do the fight. They want you to focus on stealth and cunning over brute force, but are leaving you an option to be a hoss of you want to be.

In contrast, Rogue seems to be taking the stuff they know works, like the ship to ship combat and counter mechanic, and focusing on them and injecting steroids into it. While Arno in Unity has to pick his way around the city to find his targets and figure out the best way to kill them, Shay gets to cut into assassins with an out-dated broadsword, an air rifle that's virtually silent and able to launch a damn grenade, and a ship with repeating cannons.

As long as I can do sick executions I'll be golden. I don't have an issue with a more strategic combat system, but I still want good sword to sword combat with cool kill moves

I'm still so mixed on this game,It looks awesome but something about it is not clicking for me yet,Will still keep checking on it though

I actually just got into this franchise, so I'm curious about this game.

I just started III.

I have to say, I'm not crazy about the framing device. I really think this series would have been better if they had just told it as period pieces, with an overarching plot line.

Yea that seems to be the one dividing thing amongst AC fans. Some are all for the sci fi stuff, others, like myself, would of much preferred it just as period pieces like you mentioned.

How did you feel about 3? Would be interesting to hear the opinion of a newcomer. I know many who just came off of the Ezio Trilogy were disappointed with it

I have not played any of the previous games, though I am somewhat familiar with the overarching story line (watched a few videos on youtube).

Bear in mind, that I am playing it on the Wii U.

Gameplay wise, I am not crazy about the combat system, though it's grown on me a bit. I don't really feel like I'm in control, so much as, pushing action commands in a quick time event. The animations however, are very nice, and generally satisfying. Gunplay is even more limited. Changing weapons is a pain, and your actions are limited once combat begins.

Fortunately, the platforming is pretty good, so that evens it out.

Story wise, Haytham Kenway (most British name ever right there) is somewhat unusual protagonist. I heard someone call him an 18th century James Bond, which sounds about right.

That said the story definitely kept me engaged. They really put a lot of work into the backdrop of 18th century America. I just started playing as his son, which is a pretty interesting change (though it was fairly predictable).

Also, a nitpick, but, I appreciate that the creators tried to give the Indians their own language... but the voice acting sounds extremely wooden when they speak it, so, I really wish they would have just had them speak English.

I do find that the Desmond framing device takes me out of the experience. Given that past events are touched upon in the actual 18th century story, I don't see why we even need Desmond.

So, so far, it's definitely keeping my interest.

I'm actually a lot more interested in Rogue than Unity, just concept wise.

wish Rogue was a current gen game, too. but I'm betting they'll release a remaster in the future.

that being said, what I really want is a more "open" AC game, where we can create/customize our own characters and choose what side we're on initially ( with the option to switch as the story progresses ).

That would probably change the series too radically, but if they ever did a spin off rpg type game that would be pretty cool

I'd just be happy with less loading screen and better gun gameplay.

I'm sure this franchise will get to the point where characters have revolvers.

Actually, I would really like to see a game set in Meiji Era Japan, or Russia during the Revolution.

Both seem like good fits, given what I've seen so far.

The gunplay gets improved in ACIV compared to what it was in ACIII. You can free aim in IV where as in III you pretty much just locked on to a target to shoot.

I personally hope single shot muskets and the like are as far as they go with the guns. Don't really care to see this game get too much more 'modern'.

Oh I don't know, there's so much to explore.

You know they're going to do a game set during the Civil War.

I don't know. They've gone into the 1800's now. I can't imagine them skipping the Civil War.

Though that would be funny: Revolution, War of 1812 and then, inexplicably Spanish-American War.

No one would see that coming.

The only reason I could see them skipping the Civil War was because they did the Revolution. Ubi seems to be more concerned with the place rather than the event going on at said place. But I wouldn't rule anything out.
