Astonishing X men discussion.

I liked that ish, I haven't read that much X-Men though so I haven't gone through the whole Scott is a big tortured ***** thing before. I actually really dug that stuff with him pussying out as a kid. What a *****.:)

LMAO! Hopefully, someday someone will save Scott from being such a puss.

Nah, he's a puss through and through and anyone with decent writing abilities knows it. He's a puss who has really done well for himself, though, so good for him:) He bangs the sexies and even does something badass once in a while:up:

Probably why Havok is so angry all the time. Damnit, im badass!

This is basically the only regular universe X-Men title I read. Minus the Deadly Genesis miniseries, because Brubaker is an awesome writer.

I'm not a Whedon fan, and don't take that the wrong way, I really don't have much of an opinion on him as I didn't watch Buffy or Firefly, etc.

But he knows how to write an X-MEN comic. It seems a lot of writers lost that along the way. I hadn't read an X-Men comic in a little over 10 years before picking up Astonishing once again, thanks to a recommendation from Elijya and others.

But the latest issue, # 15, was definitely picking put pace for this latest arc. And when Wolverine got transformed, holy crap, probably the funniest moment in comics THIS YEAR, by far. I laughed for a good five minutes at that.

But props to Whedon and especially Cassaday...his art is just beyond fantastic at this point. I hope that Marvel has this guy locked down for their sake.

Boy you guys are hard to please. I mean seriously what more do you want from a book? I liked to new Avengers but the last issue made me want to kill myself, cause Magneto is Xmen territory not these fools( I don't care that Wolverine is there) why the hell is Magneto still getting blamed for what Xorn(whatever the hell he is) did, the man is innocent. MAGNETO RULES

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Magneto poos as Xorn for a while?

I just read the the 15 issue from astonishing   Very good...
I hope kitty saves the day or emma makes up her mind

I've stated before that I HATE Emma Frost as one of the X-men. I'm glad that she's seemingly going back to being a villain. Also I LOVED the return of Collossus.
I Loved the majority of the Astonishing issues so far. The exception being the cyclops has issues episode that you guys mentioned.

And yeah. Joss Whedon is great. I didnt know who he was till Serenity came out. I loved that and I went out and bought firefly on DVD and i've been interested in his stuff ever since.
The man's dialogue is brilliant and he really knows his characters for the most part. I hope he stays on board Astonishing for a good long while.

I doubt Emma will have a full turn to the darkside.

There were a few great moments in this issue:

  • The four panels where Emma puts on her hysterical face.
  • Wolvie being brainwashed into thinking he's a 6 year old girl - an homage to the scene in X2 where Prof X reprimands him for smoking in the Cerebro room?
  • Shaw letting Peter pound on him, knowing that he was going to make him pay for it.
  • And the last panel nod to Uncanny #132. I can't wait to see Kitty go ninja on their asses...

This title has finally picked up steam again.

Emma so planned this from the time she brought Kitty into the team.Emma won't return to evil(it's been 12 years rt since) and i think it will end up Emma+Kitty vs. The Hellfire club.

That's quite the overstatement but whatever.

I read the first trade and followed Dangerous with the monthlies.I really wasn't grabbed by anything special or blown away at all.So many people were hyping it up bigtime as so great.I found General Ord and this Breakworld to be quite boring.Sure this would make a great X-Men primer for someone new,but personally I was left feeling flat.

Best book out there? Not in my opinion.

This is how i feel, the book is so overhyped. It reads fine but it comes out like once every two months, then reads in like two minutes. The art is good but the storylines havent been that great. I dont know why i should care about breakworld, I dont see how colossus 'ressurection' was anything special except for the fact that it was collossus and i know most people thought danger was silly but it was also nothing new (remember when cerebro gained sentience ). This last arc has been a lot better and if perfection turns out to be Illyana i will jump for joy, but until then id rather read x-factor or cable/deadpool and wait for the new writers of the other two books.

So in other words, you hate it because you bought into the hype and were underwhelmed. Ok.

No, I dont hate it. As i said it reads fine and i still think its better than most stuff out there but at the same time i am definatly underwhelmed.

I thought this was more of him turning Logan into the little "proper", timid, pansy kid James Howlett that he was. I thought it was him being a little girl too, but then there was the line about "a Beast who thought he was a man and a timid little boy who thought himself a monster" or something. I could be wrong though.

You may be right. I haven't read the "Origin" mini. Anyway, I was immediately reminded of the line from X2: "...continue smoking that in here, and you'll spend the rest of your days under the belief that you're a six-year-old girl." :)

That's what I thought, too. I don't know if it's because less people than one what would think read Origins or they simply want to block out what a nancy Logan was as a kid.:o
