Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

I’m 100% sure, that I will enjoy it on my TV more than with HFR in IMAX (where I’ve seen it)

Enjoy

Saw it last night and wasn't terribly impressed.

The visuals of course were grat but there was too much dead space where nothing happened, and the Sully kids being constantly in danger got tiresome. It's like the writers didn't know what to do with them except put them in danger. The sea clan was interesting but they disappeared halfway through the big last battle.

And we get it, Earth people are evil, greedy bastards who all deserve to get eaten alive. They really pounded the 'Na'vi good and innocent nature children / Earth people evil incarnate' idea into the ground here.

I also can't believe Sully would leave the Quaritch clone alive knowing that he had sworn to destroy Sully and his family. If you have your enemy incapacitated, you don't just walk away, you break his neck or slit his throat so you know he's dead. And Spider saving the clone later on didn't make sense either since as the clone stated, he's not actually Spider's father.

But the thing that really puzzled me was the apparent fact that the avatars don't need a human counterpart to function. If all you needed to have a functioning avatar was the memories of the human they're cloned from, why have the human counterparts who have to be in the tubes? And why didn't they make a backup for Grace so the Grace avatar could function, instead of just floating around in a vat?

Lastly, it amazed me that Cameron had all this time to write a sequel and all he came up with more or less a rehash of the first movie. The Na'vi kick the butts of the evil earth people with the help of the Pandoran wildlife. Here's hope the third movie does something more original.

In bold.
Classified tech. Grace and Co didn't have access to it. They maintained her Avatar corps alive with the tech available to them.

Here's my question:
If whoever cloned Quaritch has his DNA/personality/etc. on a flash drive somewhere, doesn't that mean that even if Sully kills that clone, they'll just clone Quaritch again? So, really, Sully can NEVER kill him?

Some employees could have called out sick but theaters by me are understaffed and have been for quite a few years now. The box office is now mostly automated kiosks and there'll be one person who'll run a register and also simultaneously take/scan tickets.

And sometimes not even that. I went to the movies yesterday, bought a ticket at the kiosk, and then just walked into the movie theater. Nobody took my ticket and nobody ever asked to see it. I honestly think I could have walked up to the kiosk, fiddled with it like I was buying a ticket, gotten some random slip of paper out of my pocket to pretend it was printing something, and gone right in. Who would have stopped me? Either my movie theater has a HIGH level of trust that everybody who goes in actually paid for a ticket, or for some reason they just don't care anymore and are letting everybody in whether they pay or not.

That's happened to me before too. If they're understaffed and the only ticket taker is on a bathroom break, it's the luck of the draw.

fair point...
but, the new clone wouldn't have the memory of anything this last clone learned of his where-abouts.... so, any future clone would just be rest to its default memory, and Sully can still stay one step ahead of them...

Be interesting to see what happens to the dailys now people are back at work and kids back at school etc.

Its fair to suggest this will take a dip going forward and it reaching 2 bil with everyone back to the grind is a question mark. Crazy though its only real competition is Antman 2 over a month out

Maybe they'll have him go down the redemption route, then have the RDA send another clone later down the line so we sort of get a Toy Story 2 style "old Buzz vs new Buzz" situation.

How dumb do you have to be to bet against Cameron at this point? Seriously, you gotta be the dumbest fool on earth to be against him. Just dumb as a pile of dung.

But it still rings true, never bet against James Cameron.

Once again, never bet against Jimmy C.

On its way to becoming the highest grossing film of 2022. And people still bet against Cameron.

Never bet against Jimmy Cams.

So the overseas Tuesday number was $28.3m!! This thing has a long way to go before it peters out. Also over a billion overseas now and no. 9 overall all time.

First weekday gross post holiday period is a $10.5m for Tuesday. That’s still massive! Also the highest ever 3rd Tuesday ahead of Incredibles.
I'm back to work this week but judging from the near absence of rush hour traffic the past two days I can confirm that a lot of people are still off from work so the weekday numbers still being strong makes sense.

This is great but Ferngully was the first movie, this one is more Free Willy. :o
