Looking forward to seeing the trailer next week with MoM. It's been a long time since a trailer was exclusively in theaters for a few days to a week before dropping online. I think the last time that happened was with either the TDKR or Interstellar teaser. It was definitely for a Nolan film.

As a Maya user, first Avatar was spectacular from CGI standpoint...and this new footage looks spectacular....its far better HFR than the Hobbit was

a lot of positive HFR(high frame rate) reactions. yeah thats because they are using adaptive HFR. higher for longer camera movements and action and low for dialoge scenes.

i am reading that every movie will have a standalone story? lets hope so.

I loved watching the first one when it came out in IMAX 3D. I was all about it back in 2010 although the long stretch between films made me lose interest a bit, no matter how hard Cameron tried to make the Na'vi language as nerd-famous as Klingon or Elvish or Dothraki. Sorry, Jim.

I still really like it although I haven't watched it in at least five years. I don't find it as rewatchable as other Cameron films like T2, Aliens or even Titanic but I do plan on revisiting it before seeing The Way of Water.

I'm liking the standalone story aspect myself. When you look at the other two James Cameron sequels, those work pretty well as standalone stories themselves. I don't think he's much of a fan of open-ended cliffhangers. Yes, watching Terminator before T2 does help, but it isn't crucial to enjoying the movie on its own.

I saw T2 on TV (censored) when I was maybe 11, a good couple of years before I watched the first Terminator and I was able to follow it just fine.

I'm curious to see if they'll actually be able to turn this into a big franchise. Between the game, the remaster, and attaching the trailer to MoM, they are obviously trying to make a big splash. To be perfectly honest, I always thought the story was the weakest part of the original movie, so we'll see how the remaster feels in 2022.

The USP of the original was always "you have to see this in theaters because of the visuals". Not sure if that selling point will work as well this time around. They really have to make us care about the world and the story.
