This looks absolutely stunning, but I am unable to spot any bump between the 2009's CGI quality and this one.

They look the same, especially the daylight scenes.

I might be the only one, but as a sequel prolonged for so many years and with advancements in technology, I expected a bigger leap towards perfecting the CGI, especially from someone like Cameron. It still looks a bit uncanny valley territory.

That being said, I might need to view the new stills back-to-back with the first film's ones. Might spot the difference then.

the Jake Sully looks like it was rendered in 2009 and other 3 look modern. i think the first pic looks unimpressive because of the boring sunlight sharp shadows. you have 200 millions and modern technology with 100% freedom. put sun shining through clouds for christ sake. i think the water scenes will look the best

is the Navi on water Cliff Curtis? it looks like him.

Honestly the more advanced movies become, the more and more difficult is to have movies like the first Avatar or Titanic. But CGI is basically texture and motion and we haven't seen the latter yet.

I wonder if they are gonna use the other elements for the title of the other sequels? Fire, Earth and Air.

This just reminds me of how much they tried to push Sam Worthington on the audiences in the early 2010s. He was in this and then the Clash of the Titans movie (that used 3D horribly) and Terminator Salvation. He’s really no better or worse than some other actors though.

He's a genuinely good actor. Its just that, outside of stuff like Man on a Ledge, Avatar, Terminator, and the first 2 Black Ops games, dude kept getting saddled with crap projects. Wasn't his fault.

Is it just me or do their eyes look slightly bigger?

Not seeing much of an improvement over the first one, but the underwater shot looks gorgeous which isn't surprising given James Cameron's love of the sea.

Last movie I heard he was in was Hacksaw Ridge, I think.

The Sam Worthington vs Courtney Jai debates were interesting

Wrong Avatar. You're thinking of Avatar: The Last Airbender. This isn't that.

No, actually, we got the other 3 titles a while ago: The Seed Bearer, The Tulkun Rider, and The Quest for Eywa.
Oh I didn't know about that

The Seed Bearer though is very Earthy.
