Sci-Fi Avatar: The Way Of Water

Exactly what I was talking about with the building shots looking as if they came straight out of Aliens, although I suppose it does look like Alita too. I guess Cameron is just really unoriginal when it comes to this type of thing and just has one industrial design he applies to every movie he's involved with. :hehe:

I did double-check and saw that Avatar and Aliens are set in the same century though, so would still like to see that crossover. And Predators can fit into any timeline, so might as well add them too!

Does anyone else think it odd that...

Miles Quartich is back in an Avatar body? He had real disdain for them and believed in human superiority. Doesn't seem like something he would do.

Also why did they wait over 10 years to make a sequel? Avatar was an ultra mega success back in 09. Why didn't they make a sequel within 5 years after the first?

Because this stuff takes time. Plus, this new one is going in real-time in that regard. Cameron is VERY meticulous with this stuff, so let the guy take his time. He's made an entire career out of both being a perfectionist and proving naysayers wrong.

As for Quaritch, I'm sure the movie will explain things. Again, patience. For the record, he didn't hate the idea of using Avatars (go back and look at the first major conversation he has with Jake in the first movie; it's foreshadowed there). He just doesn't like the Na'vi cause he's a racist *******.

Nah it wasn’t specially made. There are plenty of nine-foot people who went to Stanford. She just got one of their shirts.
True, they hand out generous basketball scholarships.

Earth in Avatar is implicitly a cyberpunk future. I wouldn't entirely exclude the possibility of nine foot tall basketball players made via either genetic engineering or cybernetics. ;)

I saw the trailer in IMAX with Maverick yesterday and DAMN...Cameron is a madman, crossing my fingers this is good.

It's Jim Cameron. 99% of the time his movies are amazing. Only Titanic and maybe The Abyss are the ones of his I didn't like.

Even if there’s a Cameron film that isn’t your cup of tea, you have to admit that he’s got a near flawless track record.

The obvious exception to all this is Piranha 2, of course. :o

Have you actually seen Piranha 2?
