I could never jump on the Avatar bandwagon I think because I never saw the movie in 3D. I saw it in 2D in theaters. While the movie was good, it wasn’t this groundbreaking thing when it came to the story and its characters. Now I’m sure the 3D was fantastic (personally I can’t watch 3D, I would always get sick), but the majority of people will be watching this movie at home on their tv screens and that’s why it’s important for a film to have more going for it than just the special effects. It’s why I don’t see it as having this kind of “cultural impact” that some people are claiming…at least not right now. It’s only been 13 years, you would probably have it give it more time to see if it had any real impact in the general population.
