The Avengers Avengers Score : Singular, Or Multiple Composer?

Thought I would bump this because of the new trailer.

I know trailer music these days is typically not from the composer of the actual film score, it's just a temp track, but I really like what was used in the trailer. Thoughts? Does anyone recognize the temp track used, can we confirm it wasn't actual film score?

I really hope Silvestri does this.

I don't see why he shouldn't re-use his 'Captain America' theme. I think Kevin Feige will 'insist' on Silvestri doing some thematic continuity, music-wise. I've said this before, Silvestri's not averse to referencing other themes, if he's asked to. (Silvestri incorporated the 'A-Team' show theme into the movie's score, and he rearranged Christmas carols into his Imagemover Digital movies with Zemeckis.)

Any more news about the score? I know this is a Marvel Studios movie, they'll have Silvestri record in London again to avoid that pesky re-use fee. And considering Disney is fronting this movie, they'll have a CD release too.

Its actually called Prince of Darkness. It was made by City of the Fallen. Its just standard trailer music. Not made for the movie.

Joss Whedon says that Silvestri's score has "blown his mind for the past several days" when he went to the scoring sessions at Abbey Road last week:

My anticipation level for Silvestri's score has risen higher. Maybe it's even better than his Captain America and A-Team scores?

It should be. This film is much bigger. If its in whedons head, then it must be pretty memorable!

That's good to hear. But I have a feeling this score is going to be another GIJOE and A-team (though I liked that more than GIJOE and think it's a pretty good action score just ain't up there with Silvestri's best, imo) I hope to be proven wrong though. I found his CA:TFA score to be good but it lacked a lot of things that make a score for that kind of movie to be "amazing" and "mind-blowing". I still look forward to this score. There's so much potential for it to be one of the best in a long time.

I hope there is a distinct Avengers theme. These composers need to work backwards when composing a comic book movie. They should try to compose a catchy ring tone and then turn it into an orchestrated piece. All the great movie themes can work well as a ring tone even on a non polyphonic phone.

You can't really have something like Hulk or TIH or Iron Man, Thor, X-Men, Spider-Man as ring tones. Even Captain America isn't that great as a ringtone but it's better than the others.

I'm quite serious about using this method. Themes like Superman, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, ET, Star Trek the Motion Picture are instantly recognisable and work great as ring tones.

The score for captain america was great. It was catchy and patriotic. Ringtone worthy I'd say.

Was that some of the score at the end???!!! :wow:

Sounded very Alan Silvestri-esque

The Captain America score is my favorite Marvel Films soundtrack. Alan Silvestri really delivered the goods. The entire score had that epic, old school action adventure sound. The Captain America March is one of the most stirring pieces of music I've ever heard on any soundtrack. I get goosebumps listening to it.

Compare that (from about :15 in) to the Captain America March I posted above. The sound is rather similar. If that's what we can expect from Silvestri for The Avengers I'll be a very happy fan.

Seeing the footage along with that music makes me view the movie in a different light than before. It makes it feel more like Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

It sounded more David Arnold-esque than Alan Silvestri to me, so I suspect it's just generic commercial production house music meant to sound "superhero-y", but I suppose it's possible that it was from the score.

What about that music from the Japanese trailer
BTW? That didn't sound very Silvestriesque to me but it did sound awesome, would like to know where thats from.

We should be hearing our first samples of the score within the next week or two.

Those were fantastic... Silvestri definitely delivered on the heroic sound. "Subjucation" sounds like Loki's theme.

I just heard "The Avengers". THAT score and scene sounds like they're going to be magnificent.

As much as I like Hans Zimmer, I'd really like to see more traditional orchestrated film scores make a come back. We really need more of them. I know that some movies already have them, but I wish that it was more common, like it was about a decade or so ago.

Hopefully, this score does that.

Sound like it is getting a good reception .
Good.
I never listen to the score in advance .
Nice to know that I have something to look forward to .
