Avengers the Initiative

It would be a good way of bringing her back and not have to get her involved in X-Stuff for a while. The X-Men need there books right now to focus on other stuff besides Jean Grey. I say go for it, bring back Jean as Mutant Zero in The Initiative of all places. Even if her identity is revealed to us that doesn't mean the X-Men will know who she is. Of course, eventually when the time would be right in X-World, thats when you have her return. Let the X-Men get things sorted out before they get all wrapped up in The Phoenix.

But one of the more powerful beings on the planet killed for the umpteenth time by Magneto and ends up as Gyrichs personal bodyguard. Seems kinda stupid. All signs point to Jean unfortunately.

Yea it does seem stupid, but Slott is still the one writing the Initiative up to this point, plus Cage said that he liked pretty much everything him and Slott had planned and that he is still gonna be working with most of Slotts ideas until he has to really go solo. Anyway Slott is a continuity master if anybody can bring back Jean in a random book like the Initiative it's Slott. He's really the only and Cage that I trust to bring Jean back like this. Maybe she is a clone of Jean, maybe the Government had samples of Jean's DNA and have been trying to Clone her. If it's her she looks to have amnesia, so that would explain why she is Gyrich's *****.

morald's pet theory is Copycat.

Jean Grey seems the obvious choice, which is the problem. Firestar is possible, although she never had super speed or TK. But having Pryor appear in X-books eliminates her as a suspect. Hmm.

Yea Copycat is a good random choice, she is really the only other mutant I want Mutant X to be instead of Jean, and Copycat seems like a Slott-like character. But I honestly think this is potentially the best way to bring Jean back with out making it redundent.

Jean is the Phoenix so people shouldn't really complain about how she constantly comes back to life, that goes for most if not all other cosmic beings. Honestly if they wanted to bring her back in X-Men I'd say no, because the X-men have been doing good without getting all caught up in Phoenix/Jean Drama. Cyclops is doing really good as a character right now, I really dont want Jean to be around to F him up. Same goes for Wolverine, and the rest of the X-Men.

Jean being Mutant X keeps her away from the X-Men, they're in California, she's in Connecticut, I also think she has amnesia or something so she doesn't even know she knew the X-Men. Eventually Jean and the X-Men will cross paths and I'm sure when we reach that point it will be the beginning of THE NEXT Big Event atleast Big X-Event.

To Mr. Slott(you're always lurkin around here)

1. Dunno whether it was you or Gage who thought up that chick who's powers change everyday(Spinner is her name I believe), but kudos to you. Pretty interesting power.

2. Why is Cloud 9 so bloodthirsty and sarcastic now? What happened to her, she was supposed to be the innocent one. :(

I think that was the point of Cloud 9; to showcase how the Initiative took someone who was innocent and cherub like and turned her into a battle hardened soldier, for good or ill. For some it may be a case of innocence lost; for others, a sense of grasping the deadly realism of the modern Marvel Universe. Or a bit of both.

She seemed to be recovering after seeing MVP get destroyed. Wonder what could have happened to her since graduating Camp Hammond that "hardened" her?

Also Clor is returning, what do you guys think about that? I'm sure most of you think it sucks but we'll see.
I'm looking forward to it. My only problem with Clor is that he was marketed as the return of the real Thor, which made Thor look really bad.

Shame that was the inevitable conclusion to her character arc. I liked her initially. Now she's just another *****ebag with a mask that passes for a superhero in the Marvel universe.

I forgot; In the Annual they revealed who actually shot Connor Hawke.

Damn you Cloud9!

Wonder if Clor will be bad or will he be fixed?

A "good" Clor would be pretty pointless. That's what the real Thor is for. And if people want a "good" Thor wanna-be...there's always Beta Ray Bill.

Yea he's probably bad, but if he's back I'm sure they're orginally intend to restore Clor but fixed, it probably doesn't go right. I just think it would be cool if he was fixed and had to deal becoming more human, etc...

I'm fairly certain he'll be bad. There's absolutely nothing compelling about him if he's a good guy.

Yeah, it was classic bait-and-switch. It also proved to be one of many distractions to CIVIL WAR. Rather than properly set up the ending, Millar instead had a parade of shocker moments he thought were cool. Which made no sense until a recent Newsarama interview where he notes that is how he writes stories.

I did that too....when I was 20. Who knew I had what it took on the professional level?

As for Clor, I don't know. He/it seems like a rather one note threat.

True, but honestly, wasn't that what The Initiative sought to create? Violent soldiers with superpowers who are willing to kill (and seem to regret it; apparently being capable and willing to kill means you no longer feel remorse when one is forced to do so) and follow orders.

I liked Hardball and Komodo more than Cloud 9 by this stage; and, well, they're on the pits now.

I honestly don't find him compelling as a bad guy, either. I wouldn't mind if Clor were just left in comic book limbo.

Hey, you never know. Garth Ennis started writing Hellblazer at 21.

No idea, I think it comes out the tenth. Am I the only one who likes the whole nightmare rape situation.

I love it. But why did Trauma get registered as a mutant? I know he didn't know he wasn't a mutant, but how could he come up as one if he technically doesn't have an X-Gene?

NO this isn't what The Initiative sought to create. Besides the the majority of the New Thunderbolts, and the handfull of actual villians we've seen registered, the Initiative is a success. Their are shady things going on like covering up MVP's death, and the cloning of MVP, but these things were going on way before the Initiative was even thought about, even in Marvel Time.

I'm okay with him as a villain. Every hero worth his salt has his "evil twin" villain--Zoom to the Flash, Venom to Spider-Man, Owlman to Batman, etc. Clor shouldn't pose much of a threat to Thor, but the more I read of Thor, the more it becomes clear that Thor's a total ***** now in spite of having the Odinpower, so there's probably no difference in power between them.

Well, it seems to have been what Gyrich was going for; and he was apparently the one in charge of Camp Hammond (at least in the begining). Remember, he's the one who hired Gauntlet to be a literal drill sergeant.
