I don't read UXM, so no, I missed it.

Grevioux's NEW WARRIORS run wasn't easy to like a lot of the time. It was decompressed, had at least 2-3 more characters than it should have had, and sometimes was confusing. But I guess the fact that I never cared for Jubilee much before helped me accept her new status there. I liked the idea that even without powers, she was experienced and give some new technology, could still be a capable heroine. Jono's sound based powers would have seemed better if at any point he claimed he asked for them to honor his deceased Generation X headmaster/mentor Banshee, but whatever.

At any rate, Donyell apparently joined Justice's team after the dissolution of his team and seems to be acting as Vance's number two, barking orders when Vance isn't.

Jono's powers weren't tech based, Jono recieved those powers after House of M, when he was depowered. It happened in a stand alone issue of New Excalibur, the art was done by Scott Kolins. The story also takes place shortly after the Blood of Apocolypse story. There was some reason Jono was givin his powers and similar appearance to Apocolypse, it just hasn't been stated yet. Jono himself doesn't even know.

I could mention a few times in post-2000 films when Sabretooth wasn't taken down by Wolverine in cartoons and film.

I do agree with the point, though. The New Warriors need to take Clor down, but Tarene should help in that, at least.

It makes snese for so many reasons.

New Warriors FIRST appeared in THOR.

She has a kind of connection with Namorita, as a female version of an existing male character.

She is a cool chick and a badass! Her lines to clor about the Ragnarok alone were killer.

The only problem is then the New Warriors roster is absurdly large: Justice, Night-Thrasher II, Rage, Debrii, Slapstick, Scarlet Spider 1, Scarlet Spider 2, MVP (sometimes), likely Ultra Girl again, and then adding Prodigy and Tarene would make it an 11 member roster, 10 if MVP stays with his dad. Part of Grevioux's problem on his stab at NEW WARRIORS was having far too many members than he was capable of fleshing out; you could have eliminated about three of them and the series would have barely been effected. The more members you have on a team, the more focus has to be split and the less each individual does. Team rosters almost never work out well beyond 7-8 members. I have never, EVER, seen any writer handle a team that had reached up to 10 or more members well without obligating some characters to the sidelines. The Scarlet Spiders are dead weight but even without them it clogs the roster to 9, which is a lot. Not even Geoff Johns could handle JSA without just abandoning may characters to background fodder for years.

Of course, I doubt Marvel is giving the NW's another ongoing so soon after canning their last one, so they may exist as another batch of characters on A:TI that Gage has show up every now and again, which can work for a while, I guess.

Donyell Taylor/Night-Thrasher II has potential. If anything, the last NW series taught him some humility and not to repeat his brother's mistakes.

But my thing is, a team shouldn't have any dead weight members. If only 4-6 members are worth a damn, then only have 4-6 members, period. No one likes those characters who exist to stand in the background, say one token line like "What's that!?" and get scattered to prove how tough a bad guy is. Just focus on the characters that count, that's what I like.

I agree. You just so rarely get that from any team that i've given up on hoping for it.
Ideally every roster would be only members I'd like but it'll never happen. Instead i'll just settle for the characters that I do like just being included with the ones I dont care for.

Justice, Night Thrasher: the remix, Rage, Slapstick, Tarene, Ultra Girl, and the Scarlet Spiders. That's a solid New Warriors line-up and only 8 characters total.
