Awww crap... Saw VIII

People recognize the puppet design & know it's from Saw, that's sort of what I meant.

In a parallel universe, Saw would have never had a sequel and would be lauded as one of the greatest horror films ever made. But then they done went and tarnished that s***.

:down

Yeah, I pretty much agree. I enjoyed the second and third installments well enough, mainly because we got to learn more about Jigsaw and Tobin Bell absolutely KILLS it in the role (no pun intended). But It should have ended after that. The other ones were awful. I have no idea why I watched them. Morbid curiosity I guess.

I still think 4 was pretty bad ass. Better than 2 IMO. 2 was only good cuz of Tobin. I thought the people in the house was kinda dumb. 5 and 2 were the weakest for me

Yeah, the people in the house were idiots but I liked Saw 2 because you got insights into Jigsaw's origin. Plus the cop subplot and its resolution was pretty good.

I think my favorite character was the white man in 5 who was like, "**** you, I wanna live!"

I liked how ****ing NOBODY had a good ending lol. They were all ****** people for the most part. Maybe Agent Strahm and Perez weren't but nobody else in these films, aside from children, were innocents.

Well, Jeff in the third movie was pretty much an innocent. And honestly, Adam in the first one wasn't a bad guy; he was just a guy doing his job.

SAW - the original classic

SAW II - great sequel

SAW III - good movie, but Jeff was an annoying protagonist. The gore went anted up due to Hostel.

SAW IV - Absolute dogsh** with the timeline twist and bringing back Eric Matthews to use him in pathetic fashion.

SAW V - It was good. It tried to be different from the previous films in many ways and I appreciated that.

SAW VI - A masterpiece. The franchise should've ended here.

SAW VII - The worst of the series. It was a soulless cash-in as evidenced by the fact that the protagonist was treated like an afterthought throughout the entire film. The last 5 minutes are the only reason to watch.

The only question they really had left was what happened to Gordon after the first and we got that.

SAW VII was so terrible, I feel they have to have to make another one to make up for it plus I want to see how Gordon continues the games.

There's also a few questions they left hanging:

1.) What were Hoffman's motives? Was he loyal then went rogue after seeing Amanda being favored over him or did he just never care since he was blackmailed into being an apprentice to begin with?

2.) Did Amanda rig the traps or did Hoffman rig them to set up her and make her look bad in front of Jigsaw?

I always forget to include 7. That's how much I hated it

VII was so bad. I can't believe the same people were involved.

I'm surprised they haven't turned it into a TV show.

If it was on HBO I'd watch the **** out of it. Another network I would just, watch it normally or something lol

I seem to remember the original plan was to have 11 of these movies. And honestly, they could easily go for it at this point.

I support this reboot (if that's what it is). Whatever keeps the horror genre kickin'. *shrug*

I've actually only seen Saw I, II, and III... Are the others worth checking out? I'm not much of a gore fan (I'm more into suspense and tension than blood and guts), but a well conceived story always sucks me in, so I consider Saw to be a genre masterpiece.

Saw 1 - Classic Horror

Saw 2 - A Decent Cash Grab

Saw 3 - A Decent End To The Series

Saw 4, 5, 6, 7 - Pure Fanfic

III sucked big time. IV was pure agony. Didn't bother with the last three.

That said? I hope this makes all the money so the Spierigs can keep working. Daybreakers and Predestination are the goods.

Saw 1 is a modern day horror classic.
Saw 2-4 forget most of what happened. I remember enjoying them for the most part.
Saw 5 is definitely the worst one for me.
I enjoyed Saw 6 as the whole healthcare commentary was a bit intriguing.
I mostly enjoyed Saw 7. The the protagonist who lied about being a survivor and then died because the trap he said he survived wasn't actually possible to survive was neat. The ending was pretty good.

I'm looking forward to the new one. The break from Saw has been long enough.

I just realized the The Spierig Brothers are only directing it... sh** what a waste of great talent.

That was my favorite thing about Saw 7.

Why do they need to bring this back? Wasn't the franchise on life support by the time the sixth film came out?

BREAKING: title is now "Jigsaw". October release date re-confrimed:
