AZRAEL: DEATH’S DARK KNIGHT #1

Written by Fabian Nicieza
Art by Frazer Irving
Cover by Guillem March
He was a husband and a father. A brother and a friend. A cop and a dark knight. But he had all that taken away. And in return, he was given a suit of sorrows, a quest for redemption and a new name. He is Azrael, avenging angel for the Order of Purity and a new protector for Gotham City's troubled times. But who will protect the citizens from him?
Guest-starring Robin, Nightwing, Talia and the League of Assassins, this miniseries runs alongside BATTLE FOR THE COWL and features the dramatic presence of a strangely familiar, troubled hero with two things on his mind: crazed vengeance for the wrongs he has suffered and salvation for the sins he continues to commit!
On sale March 18 • 1 of 3 • 32 pg, FC, $2.99 US

Say 'nay' to this you nay-sayers. Azrael's back. Not sure who the Order of Purity is or where St. Dumas and Jean-Paul are, but hero is back.

Awesome cover atleast. :P Love the templar tabard hes having.

Agreed, not sure how I feel about the white suit. I'd prefer the red, but I do like the Templar look he seems to have.

I prefer the red as well but the suit looks cool. I'll check it out but I'm more apprehensive about what they're going to do to Dick and Tim.

Seriously are we wanting Azrael to come in and be Batman again?

Yay...Frank Miller's Azrael.

I think it would be a good idea to play off the whole "Sons of Batman" thing from TDKR and have Azrael maybe lead a group of vigilantes so brutal that the Dark Knight has to take them down.

In all seriousness, though, Azrael's "training" making him go nuts and go for the cowl every time it's remotely in question is becoming something of a comics joke.

Whatever happened to Jean Paul Valley? Last I remember was his attack on Bruce during FUGITIVE, and then he was supposed to die or something...

Oh, and the new costume sucks. All three prior costumes were better.

I cant wait for this, finally Az is back. And i love the new costume too. :woot:

I used to be a big fan of Az.

Anyone notice that his cosutme looks alot like the assassain from Assassain's Creed?

Assassin's Creed's assassin slay Templars, which is the tabard Azrael is wearing. =)

i loved assassin's creed, a little bit repetitive, but still damn awesome

I heard AC2 will be about the france revolution, maybe we get to kill Napoleon lol! :P

I love that cover although i'm not too sure about the boots.

I really wish he would get some gauntlets. That was the coolest thing, the bigass gauntlets with flaming swords.

I'm pretty sure this isn't Jean Paul Valley so they did leave the person dead, but the legacy is moving on and its about time. Now we just need the next Aztek.

I really hate DC's policy of "If they're dead, bring 'em back, don't bring 'em back? Get a replacement"
Seriously, I highly doubt every time a hero or villain dies someone will just go and take over their job instead of creating their own identity. The only ones I liked were Tim Drake, Cass (cause she's awesome) and Scarface because of how Dini did her.

i heard that this is in fact JPV.

could be wrong, but then again, so has been the last 6 months of batman comics.

But its different for someone like Azrael, its a Legacy, there were Azraels before JPV and rightfully there should be some after, its only natural.

I wish DC would clear the slate and start fresh. The ENTIRE DCU seems so garbled right now. Bringing old characters back, killing old staples, killing new characters, bringing in newer characters. In moderation it works, but lately, it seems so overwhelming. The whole "legacy" thing just seems like a cop out reason for bringing back a character.
