Comics Back In Black Discussion Thread (Spoilers)

Really? It's quite rare that you and I disagree :oldrazz:

But I totally dug all of BIB. Very much to my surprise actually. I thought JMS is really back on track, PAD had ups and downs, but had some really good moments, and RAS showed that he really 'gets,' Peter Parker, and had some real character defining moments with all the female cast.

Garney, Crain, and Medina were badass. There was some dodgy art on FNSM imo though...

I decided to make a stand and not buy ASM, (like I missed much:whatever:) But I came back in time for Civil War. I'm glad I did. All the CW stuff were some of the high points out of all the CW tie-ins, and all the cliff hangers in BIB had me on the edge of my seat. I've genuinley not read ANY thing like this before, and it has been pretty daring.

Let's just hope they don't screw up my happy streak in OMD and BND, (but I'm not counting on it though.)

Same here. I've been more entertained by the core Spidey books this past year than i have....in a LONG time.

That's the thing, everything has been great. And as important I think the marriage has been to the Spidey-verse, (like you,) I can't justify stopping buying Spidey comics for one supporting character.

But at the same time, it very much looks like what's going to happen is going to be a rehash from the past, and an attempt to make Spidey stories more stagnat, (or timeless, as some writers would put it,) like Supes or Bats. As well as getting rid of LOTS of continuity, (once again, like Supes or Bats.)

Now THAT, would be more than good enough reason to stop buying Spider-Man comics, sadly.

I WILL pick up brand new day... But for how long will ASM be on my pull list? Only time will tell...

I liked "Back in Black", it was cool to see Peter let go a little bit. And the issue where he kicked Kingpin's butt was awesome.

Yea, that was the 1st comic in a LONG time that I read multiple times.

The stuff Peter said...... DAMN

I think BIB started off interesting but ultimatley had no ending.
In the end it was nothing more than a drawn out set up for OMD.
How lame.

Re the religion debate: Personally I think Peter is definatley not religious.

He talks to himself a lot, but as for him 'speaking to god' the only time that has ever happened is w/ writers who are religious and I take it as them just leaving their imprint on the character. Jenkins and JMS mainly.

Peter is not religious. Look at the Stan Lee run, that is Spider-Man.
Nothing there. No talking w/ God, no going to church, no mention or clue towards a religious upbringing- Nothing.

Like Shin said- we all like to relate to Peter and imagine him to be like ourselves, But Peter just ain't religious. Does he believe in a god? maybe, but that has never been confirmed.

I don't believe he does, but then I am an atheist, plus I love to argue. Heh.

Anna Watson?! Anna ****ing Watson was in SSM 39 and no one says anything??? I'm just glad she's not dead or something. I thought we'd never see her during the unmasking thing or ever again.

The last page of SSM 40. That is what life would be if OMD didn't/doesn't happen.

Btw, I miss Harry.

FNSM 22. First, I was sooo happy to see randy... my happiness quickly droppe when he blamed Peter for Joe getting fired. **** you, randy. This guy was your friend. second, Betty... ***** HAD A SHOTTY!!! That's what I'm talking about!

FNSM 23 was really good. Too bad it may not matter after OMD.

ASM 543... uh, peter can't drive...

Who needs a car when you can webswing?

Lol, remember that ish if ASM where Deodato had thpse panels with Peter driving to work?:whatever:

Talk about wasting Spider-Man visually:huh: :oldrazz:

Didn't ONE PERSON think about that before it went to print:huh:

How about th fact he DOESN'T have a car:huh:

BTW, didn't Peter actually get a driving license aat some point?

ASM 543... uh, peter can't drive...

I'm sure JMS didn't have this in mind, but according to 'Spider-Man: The Final Adventure' (where he lives in Portland, fights Tendril and loses his powers temporarily) ... uh... yes, he can.

I just read the issue where he kicked Kinpin's ass. What happens the issue after? How does back in black end? Also what happens in the Spectacular issue of Back in Black where he lets JJJ kick his ass?

ASM #543 Spoiler

This last part of BIB shows the desperation of Peter. Some police figured out something is fishy with Aunt May and her family. He went to investigate and almost arrested MJ. Peter knocked him out and forced to move Aunt May to another hospital, committing 10 felonies along the way. The issue ends with Peter feeling lost

Aloha,
Peter used to ride a motorcycle, so we know he had one of those. At the time of the Spider-Mobile he did not have a driver's license.During Clone Saga he did, but that never happened.:wow:
Spidey rules in real time continuity

I agree, I like that Spidey can't drive because I am a loser who can't drive also.
Not that Spidey is a loser.

no, he is. that's why people love him.

yeah, a loser with a hot supermodel wife. LOL

Spidey can drive. He has a driver's license. He just can't drive well. (And the clone-saga is still in continuity since it just got a fleeting reference in the last Sensational issue).

This is true, a couple of years ago here I told someone off as they said Peter had a driving license, and I said that's not true.

They showed me up by getting the exact storyline/panels to prove me wrong.

Makes sense when you think about it. He's Spidey, not Supes. Being able to drive will come in useful to him at some point. (When he's not in any major cities, or going between cities.)

Yeah, Spidey gets around town faster than on car and foot. Even though he did drive a motorcycle and he did use it. Web-Swinging was still the greatest transportation though.
